Ep9|S1| The Garden of Eden in Zimbabwe☺️| La Rochelle Botanic Garden, Mutare| Zimbabwe Vlog|

All you need to know about La Rochelle Centre & Botanical Gardens (which is another Zimbabwe travel destination in Penhalonga, near Mutare Manicaland/Easternhighlands) is shared in this vlog by a Zimbabwean Travel Youtuber.

Plants are what made me fall in love with nature & that is thanks to my mum. Every step, every turn in this garden kept on reminding me of my childhood & my mother. In my opinion, La Rochelle Botanical Garden is by far the most beautiful garden we have here in Zimbabwe that is open to the public. You will see just how picturesque it is. Walking around & hearing nothing but just birds chirping & singing is beyond magical. Many activities are offered there including boating, swimming, among others... ???? I hope you enjoy the tour!

For a quick reference on detailed directions, road condition, best type of vehicle to use & entry fees at La Rochelle Botanical Gardens (a destination in Penhalonga, Manicaland) check this link:

The Old City of Jerusalem splits into four quarters; The Jewish Quarter, The Armenian Quarter, The Christian Quarter, and The Muslim Quarter. You can enter the walled city through one of seven entry gates, although the busiest for tourists is the Jaffa Gate next to which is the Tower of David Museum, providing the history of Jerusalem within the Old City Walls. Each quarter has its own unique atmosphere and observations, sites and smells, and experiences.
The Old City of Jerusalem is one of the most special places on Earth! At the heart of the Jewish, Islamic, and Christian religions, this one-kilometer area in the center of Jerusalem is beyond words and cannot be missed. The Old City is home to the Western Wall (aka Wailing Wall and in Hebrew Kotel). This is the last remaining wall of what was once the Jewish Temple. It is today the holiest site in the world for Jews.

Above the Western Wall lies the Dome of the Rock, which is important for Muslims as the site where the prophet Muhammad was thought to rise to heaven. Just a few minutes’ walk away lies the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. This is where some believe Jesus was crucified and buried. One of the best ways to experience the Old City is with a tour. Consider joining the Half-Day Old City Tour or the Jerusalem Day Tour to get a full experience.

HISTORY OF THE OLD CITY
The Old City of Jerusalem could be as old as creation itself: as biblical legend holds, the Temple Mount in the heart of the Old City is the very same place where Abraham nearly sacrificed Isaac in the bible story. It’s been the center of Biblical scenes ever since: the ancient Jewish temples of 2000 years ago, of which today only exists the Western Wall, the last remnant of the second temple; Golgotha, the site where Jesus Christ is thought to have been crucified, now sanctified inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcre; the Dome of the Rock, one of the most significant sites in Islam where it’s thought that Muhammad ascended to Heaven; and countless more incredible sites.

The layout and structure of today’s Old City is relatively more modern, but by our standards, still ancient. The walls were built during the Ottoman reign of Jerusalem around 500 years ago, and still stand strong today.

Gan Hashlosha National Park - The Modern Garden of Eden- One of Israel's Famous Water Parks #israel

Gan Hashlosha National Park is a well-known water park to the west of the Valley of the Springs (Bet She’an Valley)
The national park contains a tower and stockade site that reconstructs the early days of settlement at Kibbutz Tel Amal. The kibbutz – the first of the tower and stockade settlements – was established on the day of the second Chanukah candle, December 10, 1936. This was at the beginning of the Arab revolt, which broke out in 1936 and continued on and off for three years. The Arabs demanded that the British authorities prohibit Jewish immigration to the land of Israel and the sale of land to Jews. In the outbreaks of violence more than 600 Jews, 200 members of the British forces, and some 5000 Arabs were killed. Under pressure from the Arabs, the mandatory authorities began giving in to their demands.

The Zionist institutions were afraid to send settlement groups to remote and dangerous areas. A team of members of the Kibbutz Tel Amal group, headed by Shlomo Gerzovsky (Gur), came up with a bold idea: to prepare everything that was needed in advance, and set up the kibbutz in a single day.

The Tel Amal settlers organized themselves for a few weeks in Kibbutz Bet Alpha. On the chosen date they set out at dawn in convoy to the intended site, and in one day they set up three huts for accommodation, one hut for a dining room, and a tower that rose to a height of 12 m. The settlement was surrounded by a double wooden stockade filled with gravel, 1.60 m high. This protective layer was capable of stopping bullets. The wall was surrounded by a barbed wire fence intended to prevent grenades and Molotov cocktails being thrown at the settlement.

This method, which acquired the name “tower and stockade”, was a great success. It was adopted by the Haganah organization, and during the period of the Arab revolt more than 50 settlements were established, one after another, which to a considerable extent determined the borders of the State of Israel.

The name Nir David was added to the name of Kibbutz Tel Amal later, in commemoration of David Wolfson, the second president of the Zionist Federation. Today the official name of the kibbutz is Nir David (Tel Amal).

...Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was an olive grove, and he and his disciples went into it. (John 18:1)

Built in 1924 on the traditional site of the Garden of Gethsemane, the Basilica of the Agony enshrines a section of bedrock identified as the place where Jesus prayed alone in the garden on the night of his arrest. Although it is not certain that this is the exact spot, the setting does fit the Gospel description, and the present church, designed by the architect Antonio Barluzzi, rests on the foundations of two earlier shrines: a 12th-century Crusader chapel, abandoned in 1345; and a 4th-century Byzantine basilica, destroyed by the earthquake in 746. (A rock on the way up to the Mount of Olives is mentioned by the Pilgrim of Bordeaux in 333, who identifies it as the place where Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus.)

The windows in the present church are made from translucent purplish-blue alabaster, which gives an intended dimmed-lighting effect to the interior. Six monolithic columns support 12 cupolas, the insides of which are decorated with mosaic tiles depicting the national emblems of the donor communities. This decoration gave rise to the popular name, Church of All Nations.

The name Gethsemane is a Greek form of the Hebrew gat shemanim ([olive] oil press). Eight olive trees in the adjoining garden are very ancient. (The dating of olive trees is difficult as they renew both trunk and root structure so that a young-looking tree may in fact have ancient roots).

In the garden is an open altar, placed there by the Franciscan fathers in an ecumenical gesture to the Anglican community, which holds Maundy Thursday services there on the eve of Good Friday.

My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered licensed tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.

Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.

In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)

Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water, and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many-faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be implanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
