HOW TO GET FROM MILAN TO LAKE COMO / ITALIAN TRAIN TRIP REPORT
Hello and welcome to another trip report!
This is another 'How To' guide helping you get from Central Milan to Lake Como, while also giving a good review of the new trainset in use on this line. Now there are various way to get here, some fast, some slower and with varying frequencies and this is just one of them.
So today we are riding aboard a brand new Hitatchi Caravaggio double decker EMU which forms the commuter service between Milano Porta Garibaldi and Como San Giovanni
There are many more Italian trains to come along with loads of Dutch, French & German ones among others so subscribe so you don't miss out!

Lake Como Day Trip! - Varenna & Bellagio | Lake Como, Italy | Full Tour
I have to say that I'm really proud of this vlog!

If you’re staying in Milan, taking a day trip to visit Lake Como can be a very easy trip via train. We took the train from Milan Centrale and The trip took about an hour and 15 minutes to the Varenna-Essino Perledo stop in Varenna, Lake Como.
We went to Varenna & Bellagio. The ferry was 18 Euro for a round trip, and it was a quick really nice ride.
The Gelato we had in Bellagio was some of the best, and we got it from “Gelateria del Borgo,” definitely worth the hike up the stairs.
In Varenna we ate at :
and not only was the food good, we had the risotto and lake fish, but the view is incredible.

Welcome to Lake Como, one of the most beautiful and romantic destinations in all of Italy. Nestled in the foothills of the Italian Alps, this stunning lake is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, offering breathtaking scenery, charming towns, and world-class cuisine.
Lake Como is the third largest lake in Italy, stretching over 56 square miles, and surrounded by steep, forested hills and snow-capped peaks. Its deep, clear waters have inspired artists, writers, and musicians for centuries. With its mild climate and stunning natural beauty, Lake Como has become a popular vacation spot for people from around the world.
SUGGESTED TRIP ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Varenna and Lake Como Boat Tour
Morning: Arrive in Varenna and check into your accommodation. Easily accessible by train via Milan, Varenna is a charming and picturesque town with colorful houses and narrow alleys. Enjoy a traditional Italian breakfast in one of the local cafes.
Afternoon: Take a boat tour on Lake Como to explore the stunning scenery and charming villages along the lake's shores. The boat tour will take you to Bellagio, Menaggio, and Tremezzo, where you can enjoy the beautiful villas and gardens. You can also stop for a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the lake.
Evening: Return to Varenna and enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the local restaurants. Try some of the local specialties.
Day 2: Explore Varenna, Vezio Castle, Villa Monastero
Morning: Start your day with a leisurely breakfast and then explore the town of Varenna. Visit the Church of San Giorgio and admire the stunning views of the lake from the churchyard. Stroll through the narrow alleys and admire the colorful houses and flower-filled balconies. Then head over to Villa Monastero, a beautiful villa and botanical garden located just a short walk from the center of the village. The villa dates back to the 12th century and has been owned by several prominent families over the centuries.
Afternoon: Take a hike to Vezio Castle, a medieval fortress perched on a hill overlooking the lake. The hike will take you through olive groves and ancient woods. Once you reach the castle, you can explore the ruins and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Evening: Enjoy dinner in Varenna at one of the local restaurants. Try some of the local wines and enjoy the charming atmosphere of the town. Take a walk by the lakeshore and take in the quiet serenity of the lake.
Day 3: Day Trip to Bellagio
Morning: Take a ferry to Bellagio, one of the most beautiful and charming towns on Lake Como. The ferry ride will take you along the lake's shores, where you can admire the stunning villas and gardens.
Afternoon: Explore the town of Bellagio, with its narrow alleys, elegant boutiques, and charming cafes. Visit the Villa Melzi, a beautiful villa and garden that dates back to the 19th century. You can also take a hike to Punta Spartivento, a panoramic viewpoint that offers stunning views of the lake and the Alps.

We checked out the grandeur of the Duomo, largest church in Italy (second largest in Europe, 3rd largest in the world) ???? where we climbed to the rooftop for a magnificent perspective of not just its architecture but the city itself.

Our last full day in Milan, we explored the canals ???? of Darsena, Naviglio Grande & Naviglio Pavese with an amazing lunch at Signor Vino ????. Later we returned to Sempione Park ????

We journeyed north from Milan to Lake Como ????. After an amazing picnic ???? lakeside ???? ???? we made our way anti clockwise around the lake to our hostel with the most epic view in Menaggio, we even had a double rainbow????.
Menaggio & Villa Del Balbianello 17:54
After a rainy evening ???? we awoke to beautiful sunshine ☀️. After checking out of our accommodation at Lake Como Hostel we walked into the charming town of Managgio and explored this quaint lakeside village. ????
From Menaggio we headed to the nearby village of Lenno to check out the famous Villa Del Balbianello ????????. This summer retreat was built in the 1700’s and was neglected for many years until it was restored in 1919. It is also famous for many films including James Bond (Casino Royale ???? ) and Star Wars (Attack of the Clones ????). We spent some time reenacting the marriage of Anakin and Padmè on Naboo ????♀️ ????♂️ before getting a boat ???? back to Lenno to check out this charming village and have lunch.
Afterwards it was time to say goodbye to the stunning Lake Como and for Miranda and I to say goodbye (for now to Italy) as Francesco dropped us to Malpensa airport, ready for our next adventure!

As a traveling vlogger family, we embarked on a journey through the picturesque landscapes of Northern Italy. Our trip began with a scenic train ride from the bustling city of Milan to the stunning Lake Como. The train journey itself was a feast for the eyes, as we were treated to breathtaking views of the Italian countryside. We passed by rolling hills, quaint villages, and vineyards dotting the landscape.
Once we arrived at Lake Como, we couldn't wait to explore the area further. We boarded a ferry and set off to visit the charming towns of Bellagio and Menaggio. Despite the chilly January weather, the lake was a sight to behold. The water was crystal clear and the surrounding mountains provided a stunning backdrop. We were in awe of the elegant architecture and the historic old buildings lining the streets. Although we were not able to take a dip in the lake this time, we couldn't wait to come back in the summer and experience the water firsthand.
One of the highlights of our trip was the delicious Italian pizza we had for lunch at a restaurant with an incredible view of the lake. The restaurant was located on a hilltop, and we were able to enjoy our meal while taking in the panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The pizza was made with fresh, local ingredients and cooked to perfection. It was truly a culinary experience to remember.
The rest of our visit was spent exploring and taking in all the beauty that Lake Como had to offer. We walked along the waterfront, admiring the colorful houses and boats dotting the shoreline. We explored the charming streets of Bellagio and Menaggio, taking in the local culture and architecture. We even took a trip up to the top of a mountain to catch a glimpse of the famous Villa del Balbianello, which was used as a filming location for the James Bond film Casino Royale.
Overall, our visit to Lake Como was a trip of a lifetime. The stunning natural beauty, delicious food, and rich culture made for an unforgettable experience. As a traveling vlogger family, we highly recommend visiting Lake Como and the surrounding towns of Bellagio and Menaggio to anyone looking for a unique and beautiful travel destination.
