In this video we countdown the Top 10 hotels surrounding the scenic Kandawgyi Lake in Yangon. Kandawgyi Lake is a popular place for tourists to visit due to it's beautiful landscape and historic architecture - such as the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda. This video seeks to guide potential visitors to the hotels that are the highest rated by former guests. To determine the rank of each hotel in the top 10 list we have used the ratings from the booking site agoda. Besides looking at the raw rating we have also weighted it according to how many reviews it is based on. An incredible drivers view of the tunnelled approach and crossing, on Gokteik Viaduct, on the facinating journey from Lashio to Mandalay. The video was shot from the cab of a Chinese CNR locomotive, No. DF 2078, manufactured by Dalian Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co. Ltd., which had a 2000 hp CAT engine.
The Gokteik viaduct is a huge railway trestle, approximately 100 km northeast of Mandalay, in, western Shan State, Myanmar, between the two towns of Pyin Oo Lwin and Lashio. When completed, it was the highest bridge in Burma (Myanmar) and the largest railway trestle in the world. It was constructed in 1899 by the Pennsylvania and Maryland Bridge Construction Company, and opened in 1900. The construction project was overseen by Sir Arthur Rendel, engineer for the Burma Railway Company.
The viaduct is 689 m (2,260 ft) long, with 15 towers, one of which is a double tower. The height of the bridge, as measured from the rail deck to the ground, on the downstream side of the tallest tower, is 102 metres (335 ft), whereas the height from the river, as it flows underground through a tunnel at the point where it passes underneath the trestle, is said to be 250 m (820 ft).

MYANMAR MINUTE | Yangon Circular Railway
I visited Yangon, Myanmar in 2017. Back then all I had was a point-and-shoot Sony Cybershot DSC-W220 12MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization. Although old school, it managed to capture the vibrant colors and friendly people of Yangon. Feeling nostalgic in 2021, I've finally edited them.

#Myanmar is a country that doesn’t often show up on the average Southeast Asian travellers’ itinerary, but it is by far one of the most memorable places you can visit in the region. Although the country has received some negativity due to its political climate and worries from travellers' about safety, none of this entered our minds during our time there.
The country is extremely raw and untouched by our Western societies. From the busy city of #Yangon with it’s nightly blackouts, to the quiet lanes of Inle Lake, the #Burmese are the most friendly people that we came across, and will always return a glance with a toothy grin.

Inle lake is the second largest lake of Myanmar. Rich in flora and fauna it is a biosphere reserve.
The lake is famous for its beauty, the floating gardens, Intha fishermen, Full moon festival, Lotus stem textiles, Mulberry Umbrellas, Long nech females, Seagulls, Silversmiths, Blacksmiths, Carved goods, Tasty Shan food, Lake pagoda and Submerged houses and shops. It's complete world in its own.
It is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations and yet can be covered in minimum budget. :)
Naung Shwe boasts of hot air balloon rides too..but that is slightly expensive. :(

One of the world's most notorious dictators, Than Shwe of Burma (Myanmar) has fled away from its people and away from the seaport, due to the risk of American/UN invasion. Some call him sarcastically as Sadams' brother.
They are keeping this new town very confidential. Use of cell phones are banned in Pyinmana (Naypyidaw). Civilians who photograph in this new town got arrested, and sent for 2 years in jail. Now that his own home can be found via satellite imaging on Google Earth satellite Naypyidaw map.
It is located exactly at East Longitude 19 degree 51 minute 31.43 seconds and North Lattitude 96 degree 19 minute 30.65 seconds, with a helicopter field infront of his home, and Ms.Hippo Than Shwe (his famous fat daughters) by the pool behind his home.

The city of Nyaungshwe
Once you arrive at the Shwenyaung station, tuks tuks, taxis and other strange machines await you at the exit to take you to the nearest town to Inle Lake: Nyaungshwe, located about ten kilometers away. The race is negotiated at 4 dollars and after 10 minutes of racing, the tuk tuk stops at the checkpoint where you have to pay 10 dollars or 10 euros or the equivalent in Kyats. This entry fee is valid for one week And allows you to stroll around the lake..Once in Nyaungshwe, with your bike you will be able to overtake this checkpoint in the other direction, get out of town so without having to repay or show your pass.
Nyaungshwe is a very charming little town, very very dusty, the roads are still dirt in 2016, and every motorbike, car or bus raises a cloud of dust on its way that pierces the eyes. The roads are also smashed, , It is felt especially on arrival in tuk tuk.There are a lot of tourists at Inle Lake, much more than in Yangoon for example, the size of the city and the concentration of restaurants and inns make that one crosses All the time everywhere. Here we eat a lot more western, pancake, pizza, but it is of course possible to eat rice and local dishes everywhere too. More tourists also means more expensive fares.

Begini kondisi jalanan kota Yangon, Myanmar
Yangon (ရန္ကုန္), dulunya Rangoon, populasi 4.504.000 jiwa (2001), adalah ibu kota Myanmar hingga 7 November 2005, saat status ibu kota berpindah ke Pyinmana. Kota ini terletak di Sungai Yangon, dekat Teluk Martaban. Produk ekspornya berupa beras, kayu jati, minyak bumi, kapas dan bijih metal.
Yangon ditemukan pada abad ke-6, pada saat itu berupa desa nelayan. Raja Alaungapaya menguasainya dari orang Mon pada 1753 dan menamakannya dari Dagon menjadi nama sekarang Yangon, berarti kesudahan seluruh permusuhan. Yangon dikuasai Britania pada 1852 sekaligus menjadi ibu kota Myanmar. Yangon mengalami kerusakan parah pada gempa bumi dan tsunami tahun 1930.
Pada 8 Maret 1942 semasa Perang Dunia II, pasukan Jepang menduduki kota ini.
Hampir di seluruh penjuru kota Yangon terdapat pagoda yang besar maupun kecil. Disamping itu juga terdapat beberapa masjid, klenteng dan gereja peninggalan masa lalu yang masih berfungsi baik sampai saat ini.
Itu semua menandakan bahwa masyarakat Yangon sangat religius menjalankan agamanya masing-masing. Penduduk Yangon masih sangat menjaga dan berusaha mempertahankan budaya bangsanya. Sebagai contoh, kaum lelaki dan perempuannya ke mana-mana memakai kain panjang yang disebut longyi.
Gedung dan bangunan di dalam kota tidak ada yang terlalu menjulang tinggi seperti gedung-gedung di negara lain. Malah masih sangat banyak bangunan yang bergaya lama atau berarsitektur peninggalan kolonial Britania Raya.
Kebiasaan kaum lelakinya makan sirih (bida) dan kaum perempuannya memakai bedak dingin terlihat di sudut-sudut kota. Moda transportasinya bus kota misalnya masih banyak yang kuno seperti angkutan di Jakarta tahun 70 an. Becak kayuh penumpangnya ada di samping yang menghadap ke depan dan ke belakang. Mobil-mobil stirnya ada di kanan dan berjalan di jalur kanan. Listrik masih suka padam. Angkutan umum plat nomornya berwarna merah termasuk taksi dan bus. Taksi hampir 90% tidak pakai argo walau ada argonya. jumlah taksi lebih banyak dari mobil pribadi.
Di Yangon tidak ada sepeda motor, karena dilarang masuk kota. Pemandangan ini sangat berbeda dibandingkan dengan Vietnam atau Indonesia.
