Chinqua Penn Plantation Historical Landmark Cruise Trail is Worth the Visit
This trail doesn't have a boring spot along the way! The turtle drama, Rock Dam, Stew Site Ruins, and the bamboo forest that shades Little Niagara' are some of the sights you will encounter along your hike. The trail is part of the NC Birding Trail with over 190 species identified. Look for the little rock quarry just off the trail where Jeff and Betsy collected rocks for the mansion. If you are a geocacher, you will find challenging caches along the way. (we found only ONE of them).

From Wikipedia:
Madison is a town located in Rockingham County, North Carolina. At the 2020 census, the town had a total population of 2,132. Madison is part of the Greensboro-High Point Metropolitan Statistical Area of the Piedmont Triad metro region. It was home to the corporate headquarters of Remington Arms until 2020, when the company was made defunct by bankruptcy proceedings. It is still home to Marlin Firearms, which was an asset of Remington now owned by Sturm, Ruger & Co.
Mayodan is a town in Rockingham County, North Carolina, in the United States. It is a manufacturing site for Sturm, Ruger & Co., Bridgestone Aircraft Tire, and formerly General Tobacco (ceased operations 2010). Washington Mills Company, later Tultex, operated a textile mill in Mayodan until 1999.
The town is named for two rivers that converge nearby, the Mayo and the Dan, and, according to Ripley's Believe It or Not!, is the only town in the world with this name.

US 158 North Carolina ★ Scenic Autumn Driving
US 158 North Carolina ★ Scenic Autumn Driving
Filmed in early October of 2022, this scenic autumn drive travels from Yanceyville, NC to Reidsville, NC on US158 west through Caswell and Rockingham counties before heading towards Virginia with great views of the fall foliage.
From Wikipedia:
U.S. Route 158 (US 158) is an east–west United States highway that runs for 350 miles (560 km) from Mocksville to Whalebone Junction in Nags Head, entirely in the state of North Carolina. It is also a critical route that connects the cities of Winston-Salem, Summerfield, Yanceyville, and Reidsville with one another.
It then leads further east to Reidsville, where it links to US 29 Business. From Reidsville, US 158 connects the northern counties of North Carolina, going through the cities and towns of Yanceyville, Roxboro, Oxford, Henderson, Roanoke Rapids, Murfreesboro, and Elizabeth City.

US 29 (Future I-785) Driving Reidsville to Greensboro, NC
Relaxing early morning drive on US 29 , Greensboro from Reidsville, NC. US 29 is slated to become I-785 from Greensboro to Danville, Virginia once the improvements are made to the highway that are needed for it to become an interstate. Construction is ongoing. Filmed with a GoPro 9.
From Wikipedia:
U.S. Route 29 (US 29) is a United States highway that runs for 168 miles (270 km) from the South Carolina state line, near Blacksburg, to the commonwealth of Virginia, near Danville. It is signed with north-south cardinal directions, but is actually a north-east and south-west diagonal highway throughout the state. The route serves the North Carolina Piedmont, including the cities of Charlotte, Salisbury, High Point, and Greensboro.
In 1973, US 29 was placed on a new freeway bypass east of Reidsville; its old bypass route was reverted to US 29 Business, while the old US 29 Business through Reidsville was removed. Between 1980-1982, the freeway from Reidsville was extended into Virginia.
US 29 in Virginia is known as the Seminole Trail. Oddly, the 1952 Shell Map shows US 29-74 east of Kings Mtn as the Seminole Trail, but this name appears nowhere else on the map. US 29 is now the step-child for I-85 for most of its existence, but is still nearly all 4-lane. US 29 north of Greensboro is slated to be part of the coming I-785. Improvements to the semi-freeway between I-85 Business and NC 150 have been ongoing for a couple years now to facilitate that designation.

With the Canadian border being closed, we were unable to get out in the Spring to visit family and take a short trip with them. It is unlikely that we will be doing any more trips this year.
So, we are now posting our pictures from prior vacations so you can enjoy some more of our travels. Unfortunately, we were using a camera with no video, no dash cam and no GoPro.
Just remember that all of our videos that you are watching are posted after we get back.
Hope you enjoy these oldies but goodies.
