Worst RV Campground Ever // (And How we Saved our Weekend!)
***SHADY GROVE CAMPGROUND, DENVER PA***
One of our biggest camping fears came to life this past weekend as we pulled into possibly the worlds worst RV campground. While the spots were tight, the sewer connections were not and we found ourselves in a bad camping situation pretty quickly.
After a confusing run in with some of the seasonal campers, we decided it wasn't worth the stress we had to save our weekend - and in this case we only had one option. To hook our Shadow Cruiser Travel Trailer back up and head home.
Currently holding the record for our shortest camping trip (19 hours between check in and check out) it taught us a lot about vetting campgrounds, when to call it quits, and what red flags to look out for when looking for a place to camp with our travel trailer.

Coalton Bottoms Railroad Trail | Henryetta, Oklahoma
Take a virtual musical hike on a railroad trail!
Coalton Bottoms Railroad Trail, located near Henryetta, Oklahoma, is in the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge. Originally a railroad for bringing coal out of the area, the gravel trail runs along a forested ridge. A short boardwalk provides a view of the Deep Fork River.
These videos were filmed on June 12, 2023, using my GoPro Hero7 Black set at 2.7K 60fps, then edited and produced in iMovie.

🚨 OKLAHOMA FLOODS TODAY 🇺🇸 USA flash flooding in Okmulgee, Henryetta & Dewar, May 5 2022
Floods hit the state of Oklahoma in the USA on May 5th 2022.
Storms caused heavy rains in Okmulgee, Henryetta and Dewar, leading to flash flooding.
Residents were evacuated as homes and businesses were flooded, with possessions and produce destroyed.
Roads were left underwater, with cars left stranded as travel became impossible. Electricity outages were reported as power supplies were affected.
Emergency services worked to rescue trapped citizens and their pets, with affected residents advised to go to the highest point of their homes

Route 66 Oklahoma - every town along the way - 46 of them!
The fourth state in the odyssey of Route 66 is Oklahoma and it's one of the longest at 375 miles. The uniqueness of the old road definitely started to come out. There were still a lot of towns to check out (46) but, as you'll see, most of these towns have some sort of Route 66 connections left. From Quapaw to Texola, Oklahoma was a lot of fun!

At the Classic Diner in Henryetta, you can have anything on the menu, anytime! If you want a steak for breakfast or pancakes and eggs for dinner, you can get all that and more right here. Yes, you can get classic diner food and the owners classify themselves as great American food. Besides those classic items, there are a customer favorite called the Granny Cake, which is similar to a funnel cake. Solid food, excellent service and reasonable prices are the reasons to visit The Classic Diner in Henryetta.
Elk City, Oklahoma Museum Complex
Driving Route 66 through western Oklahoma, we stopped in Elk City because of the huge Route 66 sign and the museum it promised inside. What we didn't expect was layer upon layer of museums on the same property, some inside each other like nesting dolls. The complex includes not just the National Route 66 and Transportation Museum (which inside it has the Popeye Museum) but also the Old Town Museum (with a Rodeo Museum hidden inside), the Farm & Ranch Museum, and the Blacksmith Museum. What we thought would be a quick stop ended up keeping us busy for several hours, digging into regional history.

Free Lakeside Camping Nichols Park VanLife On the Road
Found a nice free campground. My name is Brian. I live on the road full time in my self built camper van. Join me on my adventures. In this video I leave my camp at Eufaula Lake in Checotah, Oklahoma. I drive only 30 miles to my next camp at Nichols Lake in Hnryetta, Oklahoma. Henryetta is a small town with a beautiful Historic Park called Nichols Park. It was established in 1935. I enjoyed checking out the old stone built structures. I got in some nice bike rides and got caught up on some writing. I also cooked up lunch on my propane grill. This was a nice free campsite I found on

My camera was out of commission yet again for about 5 days. Temps hit over 100 again that day. This was shot in the Mazatzal wilderness area during my solo 800 mile thru hike of the Arizona trail in 2011.

Dan Nichols Park/Trail Review
The Carolina Thread Trail and the Persimmon Rd. Trail in Dan Nichols Park. Even during the COVID shutdown, there is a lot to do in this park. (open 7 days a week). The ducks and geese miss you! There are 10 bridges to cross on this trail.
6800 Bringle Ferry Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146. The entrance is free and plenty of parking. The park offers other features when not in the Covid-19 shutdown. (restrooms are closed during this time).
Carolina Thread Trail is easy. Persimmon trail is easy with a creek crossing that might be moderate for children.

Turner Falls Davis, Oklahoma Van Life On the Road
Stopped at Turner Falls. My name is Brian. I live on the road full time in my self built camper van. Join me on my adventures. In this video leave my camp at Nichols Lake is Henryetta, Oklahoma. I make my way south to Davis, Oklahoma where I find Turner Falls Park. This is a great pay campground. The fee is reduced in the off season. It cost $12.50 per night for non-hookup site and $4 entry fee. There was tax also so it cost a total of $18.07. I enjoyed my first day there. It was 80degrees and humid out so the water was very refreshing. I also found a great campsite by the creek so I was able to cool off in the water back at camp also. Unfortunately thunder storms moved in late that night and forced me to higher ground. Thanks for watching!
