Eat Local and Go Outdoors! Travel in Cortland, in Upstate New York
Today I am in Upstate New York in the beautiful town of Cortland, home of SUNY Cortland University, with travel writer Carla Marie Rupp.
In this travel vlog, I went to Tinker Falls, an incredible waterfalls that is free to enter, then to Lime Hollow Center to get more in touch with nature -- again all free.
For lunch we headed to the locals favorite called Rex's Pasta. They are very famous for pasta, of course -- because of their huge portions of homemade Italian marinara tomato sauce. The owners are in the kitchen making sauce like their mother and grandmother made it. The portions are large just like an Italian Mama would serve you!
A foodie doesn't quit, and so we then went to the locals favorite homemade ice cream shop, Footie's Freez. This place won't break the bank, since the largest cup with three scoops cost only $3.50.
For dinner, we went to downtown Cortland to eat at Hairy Tony's, which was chock full of people for dinner. People come here for quality food, but in a pub atmosphere.
We went to lay our head for the night at the Hope Lake Lodge Conference Center, with a lovely hotel, restaurant and waterpark. The spacious facilities are beside the Greek Peak ski resort, where enjoyed the summer activities of an exhilarating mountain coaster and adventuresome zipline if multiple platforms. We spent the last hour before bedtime enjoying the waterslide, the wave pool, and the indoor/outdoor jacuzzi at the hotel's waterpark, great for families.
That was a big day. Cortland, NY, has a lot to offer for everyone. You will find natural foods, and lots of outdoor activities. The people are really nice.
