Cadaqués is the most famous village on the Costa Brava, very close to the Spanish-French border, about 2 hours drive from Barcelona. Cadaqués is a very popular holiday destination in summer, and its beautiful turquoise waters and long coastline have attracted many famous artists to live here. Such as Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Juan Miro and so on. Dali's former residence has been converted into a museum.

The Cami de Ronda that runs through Cadaques is one of the most beautiful hiking trails in Spain. After visiting the village and Dalí's former residence, it is very pleasant to continue walking in nature.

Vilafranca del Penedès is a municipality in the province of Barcelona in the community of Catalonia, Spain. Capital of the Alto Panadés region, around 40,000 inhabitants. It is situated in the Penedès Depression on the left bank of the Foix River. It is known for its sparkling wines, Catalan cava, and wines from the Penedés designation of origin.

The town was founded in the middle of the 12th century as a result of the decline of Olèrdola, which had been until then the main local centre. Vilafranca is known internationally for its wines : Catalan cava and wines from the Penedès Designation of Origin (DO), with multinational brands such as Bodegas Torres . Apart from wines and cavas, Vilafranca is also known for the Castellers de Vilafranca and its Festa Major, which has one of the oldest dragons in Europe (around 1600) and about twenty dances, snacks and casteller groups.

The Castellers de Vilafranca group was founded in September 1948, by Oriol Rosell, who was its first leader. The beginnings were marked by the achievement of the first castles of seven and by the close relations with the other gangs of the time. During these years, the gang leaders were Oriol Rosell (1948-1952) and Ramon Sala (1953-1955) and the color of the shirt was pink, first, and red, later.

Great Mediterranean Coast Hike | From Occitanie in France to Costa Brava in Spain

Explore the beauty of Mediterranean coast hiking with us! Discover the variety of landscapes and scenic beaches, its flora and fauna, historical places and small villages. These video series is devoted to the Catalonian part of it, starting from the French village Argelès-sur-Mer in Pyrénées-Orientales all the way to the Spanish village of Cadaqués and Cap de Creus cape on the Costa Brava. Immerse yourself in the peaceful holiday mood and we bet you'll find a place to put on your travel bucket list and to visit on your next vacation! Or even dare to do this hike yourself!

It was our first major hike that we ever did, we ended up doing 80+ km and it took us 7 days to accomplish. We chose to go backpacking, carrying our tent, and stay in the camping sites on the way. This hike is great to do in spring(May-June) or autumn(September-October), as the heat in summer can be pretty extreme. We enjoyed so much doing it in the late May-beginnings of June with all the blossom and smells around along with favorable weather conditions that we would highly recommend it to everyone. The hike can be broken up in as many parts as you wish by doing as many kms a day as you can. We did on average 12-15 km a day being loaded with 10-15kg backpacks and found it to be a golden mean, but depending on your physical state you may choose to do more or less. It will also depend on whether you'll go with a heavy backpack or not. The route is very well signed and we have a very little complains about it. On the way you can either stay in the hotels, guest houses etc. or campings as we did, and became the true fans of this kind of stay. The camping sites are very developed in the area and can meet everyone's needs, not to mention the reasonable prices that is available to everyone. This kind of experience you won't forget. Also it is a good idea to stay for longer in a village that you really like to get to know it better and then continue on with the hike. The whole experience makes up for an unforgettable active trip!

I filmed this coastal hiking tour in Platja d`Aro, Spain in the early morning of July 09, 2022 starting at 07:57 AM. At this time most of the wonderful beaches are still empty of beachgoers and sunbathers. Perfect time for a picturesque hiking tour along the coast. I walked all the way from one end of Platja d`Aro`s main beach to Platja de Torre Valentina in Sant Antoni de Calonge, which took me about 75 minutes. Needless to say it was a breathtaking experience for me. If you want to complete the whole walk, make sure to wear proper shoes and bring enough water.
