10 Best place to visit in Týnec nad Sázavou Czechia

Until 1 July 2008, České dráhy was the biggest employer in the Czech Republic. After experiencing regular losses and requiring government subsidies, the railway reported its first ever profit in 2007 although it receives government subsidies. Attempts to make it more efficient are currently ongoing and a recent plan to move passenger transport to an independent subsidiary was approved by the Czech government in January 2008.

ČD operates trains; fixed infrastructure (such as tracks) is managed by SŽDC. In December 2010, the Czech government proposed bringing SŽDC and ČD together in a single holding company. The government has also changed the subsidies available to ČD and SŽDC.

ČD Cargo, the cargo subsidiary, mainly transports raw materials, intermediate goods and containers. As of 2009, it is ranked in the top five largest railway cargo operators in Europe.

Driving from Praha to Liberec (Czechia) 5.07.2023 Timelapse x4

Driving from Praha to Liberec (Czechia) 5.07.2023 Timelapse x4

Mezi hlavní atrakce patří Pražský hrad, Karlův most, Staroměstské náměstí s Pražským orlojem, Josefov, Petřín a Vyšehrad.

Countdown to Prague 2: Czech in a Nutshell (kind of)

My bad!
1) It is indeed Charles IV even though I said 14th
2) Yes, Chamberlain was for appeasement, not Churchill who came in after Chambs was kicked out
3) Czech's annual GDP is $253 billion (not million), which is still around the same GDP as Indiana and Minnesota

Also, the books in the background aren't mine, but don't i wish they were : )

Where we reveal exciting Czech facts and an unabashedly oversimplified Czech history according to me. (comments, corrections, and suggestions are welcome with open arms of love)

We travel over lines 130 and 140 from the important city and junction of Ústí nad Labem to Karlovy Vary , then onward to the border station with Germany at Cheb. Ústí nad Labem is a city of nearly 100,000 on the Elbe (Labe in Czech). The north south railway through the city is a very important connection between Italy and Austria, eastern and northern Germany and onwards to Scandinavia. The main east to west transit route runs south of us from Prague to Cheb through Plzen – Czech Transit Corridor 3 known domestically as routes 170 / 171. A transit route it may be but west of Plzen the remainder of the route to Cheb (line 170) is largely single track. The line from Ústí nad Labem to Cheb is, on the other hand, double track or better throughout. It passes through the south Bohemia coalfields, is busy with coal traffic and traffic from the industries spawned by coal, such as refining and metal processing. Heading west we visit: Teplice, Řetenice (really just a suburb of Teplice itself with a large housing estate and a glassworks). Bílina, where the whole town was demolished to make way for a lignite mine, Most, Chomutov, Klášterec nad Ohří, Karlovy Vary- the second most visited tourist destination in the country, before arriving at Cheb where we are joined by the international transit route from Austria and Slovakia. This is the border station with Germany -a great place to watch trains as they are classified before their journey west. RT 75 mins Narrated. Published August 2015 ©FHP 2015

Czech Republic: CD Railways Class 742 in action on the Prague - Cercany T210 line

3 clips recorded of train 9057, the 0924 from Praha hlavní nádraží -- Tynec nad Sazavou hauled by locomotive 742-086. During this weekend services terminated at Týnec nad Sázavou due to engineering works to replace the rail bridge over the river Sázavou. 749 034 was on the rear of this train.

Recorded on 22nd September 2013.

Clip 1 - At Praha hlavní nádraží, a walk through the 2 coaches used to form the train. This was unusually formed of 2 couchette vehicles (in 'day' seated format) rather than the usual double decked stock.

Prague main railway station (Czech: Praha hlavní nádraží, abbreviated Praha hl.n) is the largest and most important railway station in Prague in the Czech Republic. It was originally opened in 1871 and named Franz Josef Station after Franz Joseph I of Austria. During the First Republic and from 1945 to 1953 the station was called Wilson Station (Czech: 'Wilsonovo nádraží') after former President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson. His statue stood in the park in front of the station before being torn down by German authorities when the U.S. entered the war in 1941. A new statue of Wilson was installed in 2012.

The Art Nouveau station building and station hall were built between 1901 and 1909, designed by Czech architect, Josef Fanta, on the site of the old dismantled Neo-Renaissance station. The station was extended by a new terminal building, built between 1972 and 1979, including an underground station and a main road on the roof of the terminal. The new terminal building claimed a large part of the park, and the construction of the road cut off the neo-renaissance station hall from the town.

Start of this year´s season at the Military Technical Museum Lešany (HD)

Start of this year´s season at the Military Technical Museum Lešany - show called Armoured day The Military Technical Museum of the Military History Institute in Prague has been located since 1996 in the former artillery barracks between Krhanice and Lešany, near Týnec nad Sázavou. Currently, the exposition contains over 350 historic tanks, cannons, motorcycles, armored vehicles, trucks and military passenger vehicles, manufactured in the period from 1890 up to present. The collections are presented in 8 halls, 6 roofed areas and also in the open air.

By the quantity and contents of its collection, with many items unique in the world, the museum is one of the most important European institutions of its kind. The unique part is particularly the collection of the Czechoslovak military transport vehicles from 1918 to 1939, and the collection of Škoda cannons. By the concept of the exposition, the museum follows new trends of presentation of technical collections. From the very start, the museum has followed the pattern of British museums that set the trends in the current development of the museology. Regular replacements of the exhibits every year, their impressive presentation in motion, and the gradual improvement of the exhibition areas all that helps the visitors better understand the issues of the Czechoslovak military technical history. Every year, when the museum opens as well as during the summer season (every last saturday in August - Tank day), our LEŠANY ARENA hosts numerous events presenting the historic technology in motion.

The museum is open during the summer season in the following hours:

CP Class 1400 locomotives
----------------------------------------
The Série 1400 are a series of 67 diesel-electric locomotives built for the Portuguese Railways (CP) between 1967 and 1969. They have a top speed of 105 km/h.They were ordered primarily to replace steam locomotives then still in use on CP. Designed and engineered by English Electric, they are closely modelled mechanically on the British Rail Class 20 locomotives but using a more powerful 8CSVT 1330 bhp engine. The locomotives were designed for the 1668mm (5' 5⅔) Iberian track gauge and larger loading gauge than possible in Great Britain. The first ten were built in England at the Vulcan Foundry in Newton-le-Willows, but the remaining locomotives were assembled in Portugal by Sorefame. The locomotives share many components with the larger and more powerful Série 1800.
During the early years of 21st century some have been sold for further service in Argentina, but as of 2012 some remain in service with CP, but no longer haul passenger trains.

Castelo Branco:
The city of Castelo Branco is made up of one parish with a population of 30,649. It is located in Castelo Branco Municipality in Castelo Branco District.

Castelo Branco gets its name from the prior existence of a Luso-Roman castrum or fortified settlement called Castra Leuca, on the summit of the hill of Colina da Cardosa. The population grew on the slopes of this hill.
Little is known of the history before 1182. There is, nevertheless, a document, from this date, mentioning the donation to the Templars of a piece of land called Vila Franca da Cardosa, by a noble Fernandes Sanches. In 1213 it received its autonomy or foral and the name Castel-Branco appears for the first time. Pope Innocent III confirmed this in 1215 giving it the name of Castelo Branco.
It was around this time that the Templars built the walls and the castle.
In 1510 a new foral was conceded by Manuel I and in 1642 the town acquired the status of Vila de Castelo Branco. In 1771 Castelo Branco became a city and Pope Clement XIV created the diocese of Castelo Branco in 1881.
In 1858 a telegraph line was opened between Abrantes and Castelo Branco and in 1860 the city received its first public lighting. In 1959 it became capital of the district of the same name.
The most important monument in Castelo Branco is the Jardim do Paço Episcopal (Garden of the Episcopal Palace). It is one of the most beautiful baroque gardens in Portugal and contains statues of allegories, kings and zodiacal signs, arranged around ponds, terraces and staircases.

Economy - The city is home to Centauro a company which produces industrial coolers, refrigerators and freezers. The Portuguese subsidiary of Danone has a factory in Castelo Branco which produces Danone's dairy products for the entire Iberian Peninsula. The district of Castelo Branco is also famed for the Castelo Branco cheese.
Delphi Packard is a major factory and the principal employer, with more than 1000 workers. The Factory makes automobile component for the most important automobile constructors like Ferrari.

Education - Castelo Branco is home to the Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco, a state-run polytechnic institute of higher education, comprising schools of agriculture, technology, management, education, art and health.

Transportation - Railways: Castelo Branco is located at km.93 of Beira Baixa Railway Line which runs from Entroncamento to Guarda via Abrantes, Castelo Branco, Fundão and Covilhã. Rail services are operated by CP - Comboios de Portugal (Portuguese Trains) and consist of stopping trains (Regionais) to Entroncamento and Lisbon and to Covilhã and Guarda, and fast trains (Intercidades) to Lisbon and to Covilhã.

Notable natives - Amato Lusitano, a physician credited as one of the first discoverers of the circulation of the blood, was born here in 1511. Francisco Caldeira Castelo Branco (1566--1619), Captain General, founder of the city of Belém, capital of Pará (Brazil), on January 12, 1616. Was Captain General of the Captaincy of the Rio Grande (now the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte), from 1612 to 1614, and the captaincy of Bahia, from 1615 to 1618. Eugénia Lima, famous accordionist of Portugal, was born in Castelo Branco in 1926. João Filipe Fazendas Vaz, sports journalist well known in Spain for his analysis and knowledge of football Lusophone.

Czech Republic: Riding onboard behind KZC 'Bardotka' 749 253 (T 478.1215) leaving Praha-Vršovice

Czech Republic: Onboard behind KZC 'Bardotka' 749 253-1 (T 478.1215) leaving Nádraží Praha-Vršovice on train KZC1272, the 0817 Praha Vrsovice to Mseno.
Clip recorded 5th July 2022.

The ČD 749 class is a diesel electric locomotive, created through refurbishment of classes 751 and 752 (formally T 478.2 under ČSD).

Class 749 is a dual cab, four axle locomotive. The prime mover is a ČKD K 6 S 310 DR, a four stroke, six cylinder diesel engine, fitted with a PDH 50 V turbocharger.
All four axles are fitted with DC traction motors, manufactured by ČKD.

Following the move away from steam haulage on Czechoslovak railways, it was decided that heating of passenger cars would move from steam heat, where steam from a boiler is piped through the train, to electric train heat. To convert the locomotives to the 749 class, the steam boiler was removed, and replaced with an alternator to provide electric train supply for heating. This process also took place with the locomotives of the ČD Class 753, which were converted to the 750 class.

The prototype for the conversion took place in 1992, with locomotive 751 039 being converted, with a second locomotive being converted in 1993. Following these two, 60 locomotives were converted, with the process being carried out until 1996. The final locomotive was additionally modified with a new electrical control system. The locomotives chosen to be converted were selected from all production series, therefore the new numbers do not form a continuous series.

Especially after 2005 the locomotives were increasingly used in freight transport, mainly to replace the aging unrebuilt 751 and 753 classes, and due to increasing electrification rendering the diesel locomotives obsolete. In 2007, several locomotives were transferred to ČD Cargo, following the separation from České dráhy.

The remaining freight locomotives are based around České Budějovice, where they are used when freight trains are diverted away from the wires. At České dráhy several locomotives are still operational at Prague's Vršovice depot, working weekend services to Čerčany.

KŽC Doprava , s.r.o. is a transport company founded in January 2006 . It operates special passenger trains with a special focus on lines without regular traffic, including sidings, as well as regular passenger rail traffic of a touristic nature, especially with historic locomotives and motor cars from the 1950s and 1960s.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
České dráhy (English: Czech Railways), often shortened to ČD, is the major railway operator in the Czech Republic providing regional and long-distance services.

The company was established in 1993, after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, as a successor of the Czechoslovak State Railways. With twenty-four thousand employees ČD Group is the fifth largest Czech company by the number of employees.

ČD operates trains; fixed infrastructure (such as tracks) is managed by SŽDC. In December 2010, the Czech government proposed bringing SŽDC and ČD together in a single holding company. The government has also changed the subsidy available to ČD and SŽDC.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Praha-Vršovice railway station (Czech: Nádraží Praha-Vršovice) is a railway station located in Prague 4, located at the edge of Vršovice and Nusle, which carried 1,826,000 passengers in 2009. The station is located on the main line from Praha hlavní nádraží to České Budějovice, and the local line to Dobříš and Čerčany via Vrané nad Vltavou.

The mainline to České Budějovice opened in 1871, beginning from what is now Praha-Hostivař railway station. On March 1, 1882, the line was extended further towards Prague to this station, which was opened under the name Nusle. The station was renamed Nusle-Vršovice in 1912, and then Praha-Vršovice in 1948. The station is classed as a cultural monument.
