Another cool thing about this trip is that this route through Colombian Eje Cafetero or Coffee Axis is in the top 9 routes in South America, bucket list items not to be missed for the adventure rider! according to AdventureBikeRider.com
ITINERARY
Day 1 - Medellin - Guatape
Recommended Hotel: Zocalo Campestre
We will cruise out of town in the coolness of the early morning, just as the city begins to wake, onto the highway east toward the resort town of Guatapé. About a 2 hour ride from Medellin, the colonial town of Guatapé sits on the shores of a crystal blue reservoir.
Climb the nearby “El Peñon de Guatape” for an unforgettable 360-degree view of the landscape the is known as the “the top of the rock with the best view in the world.” We will then walk the streets of the town, snapping photos of the brightly colored houses. We will also have a chance to dine on fresh empanadas and drink ice cold cerveza michelada.
Day 2 - Guatape – Sonson
Recommended Hotel: El Tesoro
We head to Sonson via a beautiful winding road with spectacular views around almost every curve. Arriving in Sonson we will stay at a 200 year old hotel filled with an amazing eclectic antique collection. We will grab a pizza on the balcony that overlooks the main square and the green countryside.
Day 3 - Sonsón to Salamina
Recommended Hotel: Casa de Lola Garcia
Today we take a short drive north to Salamina, a beautiful town located on top of a hill with steep streets which was declared a National Heritage site in 1982.
Day 4 - Free Day in Salamina
Recommended Hotel: Casa de Lola Garcia
While staying in Salamina, we leave one day aside for a trip over to the hamlet of San Felix and the nearby Samaria Valley. Here we will find the national tree of Colombia, the Quindío Wax Palm. The wax palm (also known as Palma de Cera or Ceroxylon Quindiuense) is the tallest palm in the world, and was officially adopted as a national symbol of Colombia in 1985. Found along the central and eastern Andes of Colombia, the Cocora valley of Quindío department is the popular place for visitors to see these magnificent trees that can grow up to a height of 60m (~200 ft). The trip is filled with spectacular scenery and once you arrive you feel like you have somehow discovered a special place that hardly any other foreigner has set eyes upon.
Day 5 - Salamina to Manizales
Recommended Hotel: Termales de Ruiz
Today we tackle the worlds longest road climb. Alto de Letras is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.679m (12,070ft) above the sea level, located in central Colombia. It’s said to be the longest road climb in the world. The climb starts at a sub-tropical 468 meters, in the town of Mariquita, and tops out at an arctic 3.679 meters. We end the day in the mountain town of Manizales located next to the Nevado de Ruiz stratovolcano.
Day 6 - Manizales to Jardin
Recommended Hotel: Casa Passiflora Boutique Hotel
Jardín, is a gorgeous and authentic colonial town and is known as the most beautiful town in Colombia. Jardín is known for its colorful houses, vibrant floral displays, and delicious milk candies. You may take a walk through the main plaza of El Libertador Park which features rose gardens, water fountains, and the neo-Gothic Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
Day 7 - Jardin to Medellin
Recommended Hotel: Diez Hotel Categoria
Sorry dudes, today we have to go back to Medellin. The trip is beautiful though and its a great way to end an awesome motorcycle adventure in Colombia.

Sonson Antioquia, Colombia is a small town that is full of color and charm, and one of the most unique things about it is the mixed truck that runs through the streets. This truck is a bus that has been decorated with bright, bold colors and is a true work of art.
As I watched the mixed truck make its way through the town, I couldn't help but be struck by the energy and vibrancy of the community. The truck was filled with locals, all laughing and chatting as they made their way to their destinations. It was clear that this truck was an important part of daily life in Sonson.

Sonsón es un municipio del departamento de Antioquia en Colombia. Está ubicado en la subregión del Suroeste Antioqueño y limita con los municipios de Guarne, San Rafael, Yarumal, Santa Bárbara y Donmatías.
Historia
Sonsón fue fundado el 25 de enero de 1690. Los primeros habitantes de la zona fueron tribus indígenas de la familia Arawak y los Muiscas. La zona fue poblada por colonos españoles durante la época colonial. En 1760, el pueblo de Sonsón fue reconocido como municipio por el gobierno colonial español. El pueblo fue reconocido oficialmente como municipio el 28 de junio de 1817 por el Libertador Simón Bolívar.
Geografía
Sonsón está ubicado en la subregión del Suroeste Antioqueño, en la Cordillera Occidental de los Andes. El municipio tiene una extensión total de 536,87km2 y se encuentra a una altura de 945m sobre el nivel del mar. El municipio se encuentra en una zona de transición entre las montañas y las tierras bajas del Caribe. La temperatura media de la zona es de 22°C.
El municipio está dividido en 5 secciones: El Carmen de Viboral, Sonsón, San Vicente de Chucurí, Catambuco y El Caromol.
Economía
La economía de Sonsón se basa principalmente en la agricultura y la ganadería. Los principales cultivos del municipio son papa, maíz, fríjol, yuca y plátano. La ganadería y la avicultura también constituyen una parte importante de la economía. El municipio también cuenta con una importante industria turística, con muchos visitantes que vienen a explorar los atractivos naturales de la zona.
Datos demográficos
Según el censo de 2005, el municipio de Sonsón tiene una población de 24.046 habitantes. La composición racial de la población es principalmente mestiza, con un pequeño porcentaje de afrocolombianos, indígenas y otros. El tamaño medio de los hogares es de 4,5 personas. La principal lengua hablada en el municipio es el español, aunque algunas personas también hablan lenguas indígenas.
La cultura de Sonsón está fuertemente influenciada por su herencia indígena y colonial española. La música tradicional de la región se basa en la música de las tribus indígenas locales y de los inmigrantes españoles. El pueblo celebra cada abril el Festival de las Mujeres Mulas, que conmemora la labor tradicional de las mujeres mulas que solían transportar mercancías por los estrechos caminos de montaña de Sonsón.

In this thrilling video, join us as we take on the rugged offroad terrain of the Caldas mountains in Colombia on our trusty motorcycles. As we navigate through the dense foliage and steep inclines, you'll get to witness the beauty of the Colombian wilderness up close.
