FORT LIBERTE 2024. STREETS, FORT, DRONE FOOTAGES.

Fort Liberté is a town located in the Nord-Est department of Haiti. It is situated in the northeastern part of the country near the border with the Dominican Republic. Fort Liberté is an important historical and cultural site in Haiti.

The town's name translates to Fort Liberty in English, reflecting its historical significance. During the Haitian Revolution (1791–1804), which led to Haiti gaining independence from French colonial rule, Fort Liberté played a strategic role as a military stronghold.

Today, Fort Liberté is known for its historical sites, including remnants of forts and other structures that date back to the colonial and revolutionary periods. The town is also part of the larger region's agricultural and economic activities. Haiti, as a whole, faces various socio-economic challenges, and its towns and cities, including Fort Liberté, have unique histories and contributions to the country's development.

La Bonne Nouvelle Ouanaminthe

Dajabon, Dominican Republic

An unforgettable experience in Dajabon, a city at the border of the DR and Haiti. We visit the city as a cultural experience. The bridge between the DR and Haiti is only open on Monday and Friday morning between 9am and 12pm, and the Haitians cross over in order to buy and sell products in the market. It usually is EXTREMELY busy and crowded especially on the narrow, old bridge. There is even a hole in the bridge, and often cars will try to get over it, so many of the Haitians will wade across the river below or even wash themselves in the dirty water. It's hard to explain how eye-opening and overwhelming this experience is.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC | Visiting the Dominican-Haitian Border (Dajabon)

How did we end up in the Dominican - Haitian border ? To be honest we don't even know!
Our plans for this vlog was to visit the city of Santiago in the Dominican Republic as a day trip from Santo Domingo. Next thing we knew, we ended up going to a random concert we got invited to. We drove 2 hours north and got to an amazing beautiful town called Montecristi, which is only about 36 minutes from the border town of Dajabon, so we said, why not? So, in this Day Trip (That lasted about 2 days lol) we got to see 3 incredible places in Dominican Republic and also another country we hope to visit one day.

5-day Adventure in Nothern Haiti, 5 jou nan no Ayiti, 2024.

The northern region of Haiti consists of the Northern Plain and the Northern Massif. The Northern Massif is an extension of the Cordillera Central in the Dominican Republic and stretches from Haiti's eastern border, north of the Guayamouc River, to the northwest through the northern peninsula. The region is known for its diverse geography, including mountainous areas, coastal plains, and numerous small islands. The main cities I went to visit are Cap Haitien and Fort Liberte.

Cap-Haïtien, located on the north coast of Haiti, is a commune with approximately 274,000 residents. Initially known as Cap-Français, the city holds historical significance as it served as the capital of the colony, then known as Saint-Domingue, until 1770. Cap-Haïtien was also the site of slave uprisings in 1791. Today, Cap-Haïtien is known for its colonial architecture, UNESCO sites, beaches, cuisine, and vibrant music scene.

Fort Liberté is a commune and administrative capital of the Nord-Est department of Haiti, situated close to the border of the Dominican Republic and is one of the oldest cities in Haiti 1. This town has a significant place in the history of Haiti, as Haiti's independence was proclaimed here on November 29, 1803 . Fort Liberté was also one of the cities where French forces landed during their effort to reconquer the colony in 1802 . Visitors to Fort Liberté can explore the Fort Liberté Fortress, which played a crucial role in Haiti's fight for independence. The fort offers panoramic views of the town and the coast . Jenny in Haiti 🇭🇹| Vlog 1| Fort-Liberté| Milot

Hellloooo, it's been a while. After so many failed Haiti vlogs, I finally committed to this one. I spent a couple days in Fort-Liberté and visited Citadelle Laferrière in Milot on my final day.

Fort-Liberté is a chill commune in the NW department of Haiti, there you will find many beaches, abandoned fortresses. The hospitality is amazing and the food is *muah*. Citadelle is a MUST SEE, I definitely have to go again.

It's so important for me to know and learn about my country and my heritage. In this series Jenny in Haiti, I will take you to Haiti whenever and wherever, so get excited.

Let me know where you'd like me to take you and let's discover Haiti together....Stay tune for more!!
