I travel from Italy to Spain, Pisa to Valencia, and discuss what forms and documents, including your CDC (or Europe's green pass) vaccine requirements and the health department's QR code. I also discuss a Covid test and what you'll need to enter Spain for vacation or business.

COVID-19 has changed travel. And that means your next flight may look and feel much different than just a few years ago. That's why we captured the entire experience of flying during COVID-19, from checking in all the way to grabbing your bag after landing.

And there are far more changes in store than simply wearing a mask...

The pandemic has reshaped the flying experience, with changes to how airlines board planes, scaled-back in-flight service, and even when you go through airport security. Some airlines blocked middle seats to give travelers more space onboard.

But after more than a year, millions of Americans are flying every week as travel rebounds. Now, many aspects of flying have returned to normal - or something close to it.

Tips for your first flight during (or after) coronavirus:

Flying soon? Don't assume your next flight will be empty:

Travel To The EU: Download The Latest NHS Covid Pass

Travel To The EU: Download The Latest NHS Covid Pass

✈ In this video:
0:00 Travel to the EU: Download the latest NHS Covid Pass

1:26 Travel to the EU: Download the latest NHS Covid Pass

By the end of October, the NHS Covid pass finally became part of the EU Covid gateway and was recognised by 40 countries using the same electronic covid system.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has advised holders of NHS COVID Pass

to re-download the document before travelling, as the documents issued before 1 November will not be recognised for international travel by the countries that have joined the EU Digital Covid Certificate (EUDCC) gateway.

This means that British holidaymakers who have downloaded or printed a PDF version of their COVID passport before 1 November might not be able to board flights to the EU.
...

3:15 Vaccine Passport Recognition

Since the recognition, EU member states will permit fully vaccinated British nationals to enter without quarantine requirements.

However, a PCR test taken before or after arrival must be presented for those who haven’t been fully vaccinated.

Furthermore, unvaccinated UK nationals are obliged to take a PCR test upon reaching the French territory, regardless of presenting a pre-departure test result or not.

The NHS COVID Pass is issued to those fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with one of the following vaccines:

* Moderna
* Oxford/AstraZeneca
* Pfizer/BioNTech
* Janssen
...

4:28 How to Access NHS Covid Pass

You can access your NHS COVID Pass through the free NHS App on a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet. The NHS App is not the same as the NHS COVID-19 app. Proof of your COVID-19 status will be shown within the NHS App.

You need to be registered with a GP in England to use the NHS App.

If you’re not registered with a GP, you can still access the NHS COVID Pass via the NHS website or via 119 (select the ‘NHS COVID Pass service’) to request a letter.

Germany Easing Travel Restrictions For UK And Others

Germany Easing Travel Restrictions For UK And Others

✈ In this video:

0:00 - Germany Easing Travel Restrictions For UK And Others

01:42 - Germany Opens to UK travellers

The German government will soften coronavirus travel rules for travellers from Britain along with four other countries.

The restrictions for the UK, along with Portugal, Russia, India and Nepal, will be relaxed from 7 July.

The plan, which kicks in on 7 July, comes after talks between British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

02:57 - Changes to German Travel List

Officials in Berlin had feared that British nationals could spread the more contagious variant known as delta variant, however, now that new variant is also present in continental Europe, Germany has downgraded the UK to a high-incidence area for coronavirus infections.

It is the second-highest designation under the German government's COVID-19 travel rules.

Eleven countries remain on Germany's virus variant area list.

They include:
Botswana, Brazil, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Uruguay.

Only German nationals and permanent residents travelling from these countries are allowed to enter Germany.

All travellers from virus variant areas are mandated to self-isolate for 14 days regardless of their personal COVID status.

04:07 - Travel from Germany to the UK

Germany is currently on the UK's amber list for international travel, which means that people returning from Germany to the UK must self-isolate for 10 days on arrival.

Travellers must also take a pre-departure Covid test, as well as a PCR test on or before day two and on or after day eight.

However, UK's travel traffic light system is due to be reviewed later this week, with expectations that people who have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus will have the freedom to travel quarantine-free.

A date has not yet been confirmed for the announcement, but Downing Street stated on 5 July that more information on travel rules will be released by the Transport Secretary in the coming days.

EU Now Accepts COVID Passport From Third Countries

EU Now Accepts COVID Passport From Third Countries

✈ In this video:
EU Now Accepts COVID Passport From Third Countries

Several countries have now opened for international travel for non-essential purposes, however, with the threat of the different variants of coronavirus, countries are still cautiously welcoming travellers.

The European Union (EU) has advocated for the use of the EU Digital
Covid Certificate (EUDCC) to restore freedom of travel throughout member states and allow safe cross border travel.

Although each member state has its own version of the “Covid Passport”, they are connected to one gateway which is universally recognised

As of 19 August, the EU Commission announced that it has begun accepting COVID certificates issued by North Macedonia, Turkey and Ukraine.

The three countries are now connected to the EU system and their passes will be accepted under the same conditions as the EU Digital COVID Certificate from 20 August 2021.

Travellers from the bloc will also be accepted in North Macedonia, Turkey, and Ukraine if they carry the EU certificate.

The digital pass states that citizens have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have tested negative for the virus, or are recovering from infection.

The move by the European Commission to adopt the three equivalence decisions aims to facilitate safe travel between the EU and its neighbouring countries.

I am pleased to see that the list of countries implementing a system based on the EU Digital COVID Certificate
is growing steadily and we are setting standards internationally - EU Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders.

This will help to facilitate safe travel, also beyond the borders of our Union EU Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders.

Vaccine Hurdles

The announcement could however present hurdles related to COVID-19 vaccines that are not recognised by the EU.

So far the bloc has only approved four jabs for use, those produced by Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson, but member states can choose to accept others.

Ukraine, Turkey, and North Macedonia have all also recognised China’s Sinovac jab, while the latter two also administer another Chinese one, from Sinopharm, as well as Russia’s Sputnik V.

The EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi stressed that the support of neighbouring countries was essential to progression during the coronavirus pandemic.

As we fight the pandemic together, our partners are also an integral part of opening up safely together — Várhelyi

I welcome Ukraine, North Macedonia, and Turkey in our Digital COVID Certificate system
and look forward to more of our neighbours connecting soon.

The EU already has an equivalence agreement with non-member state Switzerland.

Do you have access to EU Digital Covid Certificate? What are your thoughts on getting a universal system for the Covid passport?

EU Calls on the US to Open Borders US Travel to Open to Europeans?

EU Calls on the US to Open Borders

✈ In this video:

0:00 - EU calls on the US to open Borders

01:27 - EU Calls on the US to Open Borders US Travel to Open to Europeans?
Despite the EU relaxing its rules to allow US travellers into the bloc, the US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken cut off the hopes of millions that the US could reciprocate the EU’s move to reopen the borders.

02:02 - US Restrictions On EU Travellers

Despite US citizens now being allowed to visit more and more destinations, the country itself is holding firm on its travel restrictions in a bid to prevent importing more cases of Covid-19 across its borders.

As a result, travellers from several countries are prohibited from entering the US.

Passengers who have been present in the following countries in the 14-days prior to their attempted arrival in the US will not be permitted to enter.

The countries are:
* Brazil * China *India
* Iran * republic of Ireland
*Schengen area (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany,
Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City)

*South Africa
* United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)

03:17 - EU Calls for Trans-Atlantic Cooperation

The European Union has been catching up to the US vaccination rate in recent weeks.

The current situation means that whilst EU citizens living in the US are allowed to visit their families back home, they cannot then return to the US, regardless of vaccination status

05:07 - Recognised US Vaccination Certificate

Another looming question of reciprocity is about what kind of documentation travellers will need to prove their COVID-19 vaccination and testing status when they enter EU countries.

Starting 1 July, EU citizens and residents are scheduled to have an EU Digital COVID Certificate, which will indicate whether they are vaccinated, have a negative PCR result or have recently recovered from the coronavirus.

This digital verification system is designed to be interoperable throughout the bloc and allow for easier multi-destination travel.

On the other hand, the United States has no standardised vaccination or testing documentation that can automatically be recognised by EU authorities.

With the reopening of US border restrictions, the United States is also imposing new rules requiring nearly all foreign adult visitors to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

The letter must have the following essential elements:

* Must be signed and dated on official letterhead that contains the name, address, and phone number of the licenced physician who signed the letter.

Germans Can Now Travel: Worldwide Germany country-specific travel advice

Germany country-specific travel advice

The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has decided to end the current travel warning to all third-countries and will be replacing it with country-specific travel warnings.

✈ In this video:
Germans Can Now Travel Worldwide Germany Country Specific Travel Advice

Germany Country Specific Travel Advice

The decision has been taken after the relevant German authorities asserted that the epidemiological situation in third-countries was different from one country to another

therefore Germans can now travel to some of these places even for
non-essential purposes, due to low risks of infections.

The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the current general warning against travel to all third-countries will end on
September 30.

From October 1, 2020, unrestrictedly differentiated travel and safety information for individual countries will apply again, - MFA press release

Currently, Germans are discouraged from undertaking unnecessary tourist trips to all world countries, except for:

The EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, The United Kingdom, Ireland, Monaco, San Marino, the Vatican State

German nationals also encounter difficulties when travelling to the above-mentioned destinations as well, as quarantine restrictions and the obligation of being tested upon arrival.

Therefore, the German MFA advises its citizens to check travel advice to each EU/EEA country when undertaking a trip to their territory, in order to be aware of travel restrictions in advance.

In addition, the MFA points out that some countries sometimes introduce travel restrictions without prior warning, advising its citizens to always stay informed when travelling through the EU or further abroad.

The German MFA, therefore advises its citizens to be cautious of the following when travelling outside Germany:

* Every traveller must have travel insurance that covers Coronavirus-related situations.
* Travel Advice published by the German authorities must be consulted before every trip.

* Travellers must be aware of the entry regulations in their destination country, including quarantine measures and testing.

* german Citizens are suggested to book flights and accommodations that can be cancelled in case the situation in their destination country worsens.

* Hygiene measures as social distance and face masks must be respected at all times.

The last time Germany updated its advice against travel abroad was in mid-August when the travel advice was extended to September 14.

Since the beginning of 2020, when many German citizens were stranded on their trips abroad, the German authorities organised several repatriation flights, bringing back home over 240,000. Which was the largest repatriation process in the history of Germany.

The travel warning has been reintroduced mainly due to fears of the German authorities that the deterioration of the outbreak would leave many outside Germany, stuck amid a health crisis in foreign countries.

New Zealand Travel Update: Foreign Travellers Must Be COVID 19 Vaccinated

✈ In this video:
0:00 New Zealand Travel Update: Foreign Travellers Must Be Vaccinated

1:25 New Zealand Travel Update: Foreign Travellers Must Be Vaccinated

New Zealand’s government announced that starting 1 November, all foreign nationals entering the country will need to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated

To further reduce the possibility of the virus getting through our border, we are introducing the requirement — Chris Hipkins for air travellers aged 17 and over, who are not New Zealand citizens, to be fully vaccinated to enter New Zealand

Hipkins explained that inbound foreign travellers will have to declare their vaccination status when registering with New Zealand’s managed isolation system, and present proof of vaccination or an approved exemption to their airline, as well as to customs officers upon arrival.

New Zealand's borders are closed to non-essential travel so the policy applies to people who have been cleared to travel to New Zealand for essential purposes or those coming from an approved quarantine-free zone.

Foreign travellers will still be required to quarantine for 14 days upon entry, and all arrivals, aside from those originating in a handful of exempted countries, will need to provide negative results from a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their first international flight.

2:54 New Zealand’s Vaccine Passport

Government officials are also working on creating a traveller health declaration system, which will introduce the ability to digitally verify people's vaccination status at the border.

New Zealand is accepting a wide range of vaccines for entry, provided the vaccine is approved by a government or approval authority, though more guidance is expected to follow.

Flag carrier Air New Zealand announced that starting 1 February 2022, it will require all passengers flying on international routes to be fully vaccinated regardless of any destination.

A date on when international tourism will return to New Zealand has yet to be announced, though it's likely to be early next year when most of the population is fully vaccinated and the digital traveller declaration system is in place.

04:07 - Germany’s Safe Countries

Australia Reopening International Travel In November

Australia Reopening International Travel In November

1:21 Australia Reopening International Travel In November

Australia is set to restart international travel next month once the country hits its 80% vaccination target easing one of the toughest COVID-19 restrictions imposed globally.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated that reopening the international border for citizens and permanent residents will be linked to the establishment of home quarantine in Australia's eight states and territories.

The first home quarantine systems will be up and running in November, but the timetable will be set by individual states and territories.

This would essentially remove the caps limiting the number of people allowed into the country.

The plan would see states follow New South Wales' lead in allowing travel for vaccinated passengers with pre-flight COVID-19 testing and one week of home quarantine.

Once changes are made in November, the current overseas travel restrictions related to COVID-19 will be removed Prime Minster Scott Morrison and we'll be working towards complete quarantine free travel for certain countries such as New Zealand, when it is safe to do so Prime Minster Scott Morrison

Morrison also announced that Australian citizens and permanent residents who cannot be vaccinated, including children and those with medical exemptions, will be treated as vaccinated for the purposes of their travel.

2:55 Australia’s Vaccine Passport

Australia's federal government, following the EU, Israel, and the UK, has developed vaccine passports based on QR codes that will certify a passenger’s vaccine status.

The COVID-19 passports should be ready by the end of October.

Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) had previously approved vaccines made by Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson.

Morrison said that two more had been added to the list, China's Sinovac and India's Covishield.
