Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is a behind-the-scenes walking tour featuring authentic sets, costumes and props from the Harry Potter film series.

Walk in the footsteps of Harry Potter and explore the wonders of the Wizarding World.

Serving as the backdrop to some of the film series’ most iconic scenes such as the Yule Ball and the Battle of Hogwarts, the Great Hall was first built for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2000 and was used as a key set for six more films. The spectacular Great Hall includes the costumes of students from each Hogwarts house plus two large tables which are set for dinner; at the top of the room is the teachers' table where the Hogwarts Professors sat. The Great Hall is home to some of the beautiful hand crafted props created for the Harry Potter film series including Professor Dumbledore’s lectern and the House Points Counter. Though rarely seen on screen, it is rumoured that when the House Points Counter was first built it caused a national shortage of Indian glass beads.

The Forbidden Forest seen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was a combination of location and studio shooting. This moved entirely to the Studio for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in order to house Aragog’s lair and continued to grow throughout the film series. While shooting for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, scenic artists created backdrops that were up to six hundred feet in length. The Forbidden Forest seen at the Studio Tour is filled with 19 trees each with a diameter of over 12 feet.

The Diagon Alley set constantly changed throughout the film series. Since its construction, walls have shifted, shop fronts have moved and entire buildings have been carefully tweaked, leaning just slightly, to create the street that is seen in the films. Many of the Diagon Alley set pieces were also re-dressed for use in the village of Hogsmeade for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The original design of the street combined the rich details from the Harry Potter books with inspiration from the streets described in the works of Charles Dickens. Diagon Alley is home to not only Gringotts Bank, Flourish and Blotts and Mr Mulpepper’s Apothecary but also the dusty Ollivanders wand shop, where Harry’s wand famously chose him. The shop was home to more than 17,000 individually labelled wand boxes during filming.

MANDRAKES AND MAGICAL CREATURES

You will be welcomed into the Great Hall to the Frog Choir scene as seen in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, featuring the costume of conductor of the choir, Professor Flitwick, as worn by Warwick Davis.

Remember to be on the lookout for your favourite magical creatures as you explore the Studio Tour, as Cornish Pixies, Dumbledore’s beloved Fawkes and the animatronic Monster Book of Monsters can be spotted during your visit. In addition, you will learn how Thestrals and Mandrakes were brought to life using a mixture of scale models and CGI in the Creatures Workshop.

As part of this special feature, we have opened the glass doors of Professor Sprout’s greenhouse for the very first time! Just like a Hogwarts student, you will be able to step into the greenhouse, home to many exotic and magical plants, and stop to pull out a potted Mandrake as part of an interactive display. Based on the scene in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, you will recognise the Venomous Tentacula hanging from the ceiling as you walk through the greenhouse.

In addition to this brand new set, we have expanded the exterior sets in our backlot with new additions including the fountain from the Hogwarts courtyard and a 1:3 scale-version of the Weasleys’ Burrow.

WARNER BROS. STUDIO TOUR LONDON - Harry Potter Tour Review, Movie Sets and Filming Locations

#HarryPotter #WarnerBrosStudio #HarryPotterLondon

We are traveling to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London to visit the authentic sets, props and costumes of the films from the Harry Potter franchise. This is the studio they filmed the majority of the Harry Potter Movies. Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is located about 20 minutes North West of London in Watford, United Kingdom. We drove but there are tour buses that leave from central London. Just make sure to purchase your timed tickets ahead of time. Stepping into the grand open lobby there is a Ukranian Ironbelly Dragon hanging from the ceiling and we know we are in for something special. Here at Doodle the Travel Bug we are no strangers to Harry Potter Themed Travel, We've done potion classes, filming locations in Ireland and the UK, we've seen The Cursed Child on Broadway and Universal Studios Florida. So how does this compare? It far excedes all our expectations. It is a must do pilgramage for all Harry Potter fans. The lobby also has a giant all things Harry Potter gift shop and if you are hungry they have a food hall, a Chocolate Frog Cafe and a restaurant serving afternoon tea (Harry Potter themed of course. ) As our ticket time approached, we were put in a theater for instructions and a welcome video with the stars of the Harry Potter films Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson AKA Harry, Ron and Hermione Granger. But the real magic starts when you are let out into the soundstages of sets, original costumes and props. The Warner Bros Studio Tour is self guided but takes about 4 hours, even at kid speed, because it is so humongous. The doors open on the first set and it's the Great Hall. This is where all the feasts are held. Their collection is so complete. We saw the Grifindor Common Room, Professor Snape's Potion Class, Dumbledoors Office, Hagrid's Hut, The Weasley's Burrow and the props are incredible like the Fat Lady portrait, The Philosopher Stone, Nimbus 2000, there are also tons of photo opps and a green screen so guests can ride a broom inside a game of Quidith. And just when you think London Studio Tour could not get more epic, it takes your breat away when you step onto Platform 9 3/4 . Now in the begining films the Hogwarts Express Scenes were shot on location at King's Cross Train Station in London. It wasn't until the Deathly Hollows that King's Cross was turned into a set. We then move outside where there is an incredible model of the Burrow for exterior shots, the flying Ford Ancgelina (The Weasley's Flying Car) is here, the Knight Bus and The Dursley's House #4 Privet Drive. Now in the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerror Stone Privet Drive was a real house and filming locations. Gringots was the next big set. Gringots interior for Sorceror Stone was shot in Australia House Embassy. The rest of the film was on a soundstage. And remember that Ukranian Ironbelly dragon from the lobby? Well he is back in a realistic digital form and is setting the bank a blaze. One of the coolest parts of exploring Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio London is teaching the kids all the different jobs that go into putting a movie together. There is hair and makeup, lighting, art department, costume design, production design, special effects and more. We step inside the last big set Digon Alley. it feels so sureal perusing the windows of shops in the wizarding world. Leadenhall Market in London is one of the original filming locations and where the Leaky Caldron is located. The tour ends with the crown jewel of the art departmen, a huge itricate model of Hogwarts Castle. The castle is lit for all times of day and the castle is outfitted with 2,500 little tiny fibre lights.
Like all tours we exit through the gift shop. This was a highlight of our family trip to England. It is a must for all fans of movie making and Harry Potter.

DINNER IN THE GREAT HALL! ????????️✨ WARNER BROS STUDIO TOUR: THE MAKING OF HARRY POTTER ⚡️ {ad pr invite}

AD PR Invite • We were kindly invited to the Warner Bros Studio Tour: The Making Of Harry Potter last year for Christmas Dinner in the Great Hall! The tour is dressed for Christmas with the #HogwartsInTheSnow overlay, but we were kindly invited to an extra special (sold out!) event to enjoy Christmas Dinner in the Great Hall, dressed for the famous Yule Ball scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

We started with a drinks reception and canapes under the Dragon in the Studio Tour’s lobby, before moving through to the magnificent Great Hall for a two-course seated dinner. We had the chance to explore the depths of the Studio Tour, exclusively after hours, marvelling at the original sets whilst enjoying dessert on Platform 9¾. We even have my favourite drink, Butterbeer! Big thank you to Warner Bros for having us, don't miss our full vlog from the experience here -
