Here's a complete walkthrough of what applications you need to fill-out in advance and I show you what it looks like to enter customs and go through the airport in 2023~

As I mention, Korea is an incredibly efficient place and you can buy most stuff that you need over here, however, some things mentioned you definitely won't regret packing :)

what to pack for study abroad? ???? realistic packing guide for exchange in seoul, south korea
Hi everyone!
If you're watching this video, I assume that means that you're studying abroad soon (or just curious) and if that's the case, I'm SO incredibly excited for your journey to begin!
My name is Lynne and I recently returned home (the US) after spending a semester abroad in Seoul, South Korea. I was a student at Yonsei University for four months between September and December, and I wanted to give a realistic and accurate guide to what I actually took with me on my way over.
I really only bought clothes during the chillier months and relied on the basic pieces I packed with me for the entirety of my time there. Obviously, you might want to buy more clothes than I did (I can't blame you), in which case I recommend cutting down your packing list to approximately half of what I took.
I imagine that if you're going for the Spring semester, you'd want to think the opposite (make sure to have plenty of warm clothes and then plan to buy the lighter, summerly clothes when you're there). And if you're spending the whole year there (how exciting!) you might want to pack mainly for the first semester you'll be therefore with just a little more balance.
All in all, this is just a record of what *I* did, and it worked out perfectly for me and what I wanted. Please take everything with a grain of salt, but I hope this is informative and helpful in some way to those of you who are studying abroad soon!

Packing Essentials: What You Should (and Shouldn’t) Pack For Study Abroad In South Korea
This video details the essential things I did or wished I had brought! In case you want a written list, here's everything I mentioned:
bed sheets (fitted especially) (everything else like pillow, duvet, lamp, etc for your dorm/apartment I recommend purchasing there. I will be doing another video about where to buy stuff and my favorite shopping areas so look out!)
towels
capsule wardrobe (aka clothes that easily mix and match and can be layered; Korea goes from very hot and humid to extremely cold, dry, and windy real fast so you'll need everything from shorts to a parka. You'll probably also want to buy clothes there too because they're cute and pretty cheap, so take that into consideration!)
toiletries: razors, tampons/pads, toothpaste. Everything else is easily bought there and probably better quality too, especially skincare.
I forgot to mention this, but if you wear face makeup like concealer or foundation that needs to be a certain shade, stock up before you leave, unless you're very pale.
Basic medicine and prescriptions
raincoat/umbrella/sunglasses (Be ready for all weather and to walk a lot!)
Camera, GoPro, lots of phone storage; anything that will remind you to take pictures.
adaptor for charging phone/lamp/laptop etc
food from home (not a lot, but something for the first week(s) of homesickness can help!)
an open mind
