In this Lake Atitlan travel guide we explore 5 villages around the lake. Including Santiago De Atitlan, San Juan La Laguna, Santa Catarina, San Antonio Palopo and Panajachel. I would say this is the best place to visit in Guatemala because there are many villages to explore around the lake and culture to explore. But best of all is probably going to be the incredible natural beauty and scenery of the lake Atitlan.

Such as San Marcos, which is popular with new age explorers, San Pedro La Laguna with foreign tourist and San Lucas for its proximity outside of the lake region to the Pacific Ocean. Our travel guide is from Santa Cruz La Laguna and says that one is the best. If you can get around to many of the towns and villages you will certainly feel culturally enriched and as if you really met the Mayan people.

Lake Atitlan, Guatemala [Amazing Places 4K]
Lake Atitlan in Guatemala is known for its amazing natural scenery, Alexander von Humboldt called it the most beautiful lake in the world. Lake Atitlan is 130 square km large and 340 meters deep, it is a volcanic lake with 3 volcanoes on one side, surrounded by mountains and towns where Maya culture is still alive.
In the video: scenes from main viewpoints around the lake, from the trail between Santa Cruz La Laguna and San Marcos La Laguna, from the towns of Panajachel, Solola, San Pedro La Laguna, Santiago Atitlan, San Juan La Laguna, from San Pedro volcano and the Indian Head.

There are many towns surrounding the lake but we chose to base ourselves in Panajachel and take a day trip over to San Juan la Laguna. We will visit local villages along the lakeside like Santiago, San Pedro, San Juan, and San Marcos de la Laguna where we will discover what makes each village unique unto itself. You will learn what inspired Antoine de Saint-Exupery to write The Little Prince and even learn how to make Colombian arepas. By the end of the video, my hope is that you not only share a laugh, a dance and maybe even a song with us, but that you experience something emotional that will inspire you and your family to want to come visit Lake Atitlan and see her awe inspiring beauty for yourself.
