/// ABOUT US ///
Hi! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Central America. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! During our last year of university, we spent 4 months in Honduras on a semester abroad and fell in love with #LatinAmerica and #Spanish. Since then, we began planning and saving to do an extensive Latin America tour. 2020 delayed those plans by half a year but during this time stuck in BC, we explored a new hobby (like everyone in the pandemic) of videography and photography. We are now using our new skills to document our adventures around Central and South America. Our desire through these videos is to provide helpful and inspiring content for other travelers while also showing people around the world how beautiful Latin America truly is! Thanks for following along and please leave a comment to say hi!

Antigua Guatemala 2019 - Antigua Guatemala Things to Do

Today we head from Guatemala city to Antigua Guatemala 2019. This is another one of our stops for Central America travel. Join us as we enjoy Antigua Guatemala. Antigua is our second leg after arriving in Guatemala City a couple of days prior. This Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala trip is a birthday gift and trip for my girlfriend. I knew Antigua Guatemala would be nice, but it was way more than that. I can't tell you how many times we said, Oh my God, I love this city. Guatemala City was nice, but Antigua was incredible. Lots to do, great food and live music to top it off. Visiting Antigua has been my best choice for a trip. Antigua Guatemala City should be at the top of everyone's list. Visiting Guatemala and visiting Antigua Guatemala is a must if choosing a place to visit in Central or South America. There are plenty of things to do in Antigua Guatemala, from nightlife, nature, shopping and short trips to other smaller towns. And of course Lake Atitlan Guatemala. Lake Atitlan should be your second stop when visiting Antigua Guatemala. And Antigua Guatemala nightlife was off the chain; at least in Antigua. Antigua Guatemala 2019 will be a trip that we never forget. This is truly our best trip ever.

You'll be treated to a little action from Fuego volcano. Lot's of action. Guatemala City 2019, again, was great; but Antigua was AWESOME. Visiting Antigua Guatemala, Antigua Guatemala and Lake Atitlan are my top three to do recommendations. Antigua guatemala hotels are mostly basic, but you can find some true gems as well. Such as the hotel we had on our return to the city. Visiting Guatemala City should be your first stop, but then, on to Antigua at only a $22 average Uber ride. Guatemala City to Antigua took us about an hour and there are two sides of one main highway. Each going one direction. Makes for safe travel through the mountains. Travel Guatemala people! Guatemala travel is easy too. For us, we had only one flight from Houston. Travel Guatemala City first since this is where you'll more than likely land in the country. Living in Guatemala is actually something we're looking into. Being an expat is a dream for us down the road. The food in Guatemala was incredible. We voted Guatemala our best food trip. The Guatemalan food was pretty good. I'm not as adventurous as my girlfriend, but I'll try anything once.

Antigua Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

Antigua – In the sparkling Caribbean Sea, just 3 hours from Miami and 8 from London, is the largest island in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. Check out the coolest things to see and do in Antigua.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Antigua:

Begin your #Antigua #vacation in the port town capital, St. John’s. Mix up a little history and shopping down by the city’s quays, where old shophouses have been given new life as cafes, bars and duty-free boutiques. #Visit the old Courthouse, now the home of the national museum; walk the ramparts of the harbor’s fortifications.

North of St. John’s, find Runaway Beach and Dickenson Bay, home to some of the purest sands and finest resorts in the West Indies. On the island’s eastern side, visit the historic sugar plantation, Betty’s Hope. A few miles east, feel the power of nature at Devil’s Bridge, a natural arch carved by Atlantic waves. #Explore Half Moon Bay, Mamora Bay and English Harbor.

From English Harbor back to St. John’s, it’s just one perfect beach after another. Some say there are 365 beaches in Antigua, one for each day of the year.

For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Hiking Acatenango w/o a Guide:
While in Antigua, find a shop with wifi so you can call an uber to take you to the trailhead. We ended up making a deal with the driver to pick us up the next morning to take us to the airport, so there was no need to find wifi once our hike was completed.
We got to the trailhead around 10:30am or so and there were many tour groups around. There were also tons of locals selling anything you might still need for the hike! (water, gloves, coverups, walking sticks, snacks).
On the hike, you’ll pass through 4 different ecosystems. Farmland, Tropical Cloud Forest, High Alpine Forest, and Volcanic!
The trail starts at approximately 7,000 feet and increases to 13,000 feet above sea level so it’s suggested to acclimate before starting. We brought altitude sickness pills to help combat any altitude related symptoms and had no problems.
After about two hours into the hike, you’ll arrive at Registration. It was 100Q for two persons to camp overnight.
About 3 hours in is a rest area to use outdoor restrooms and purchase food and drink.
Total time to make it to our campsite with a view of Fuego was just under 7 hours total! This was comprised of approximately 6 hours of hiking and 1 hour of combined breaks.
Time to get down the volcano was just under 3 hours. We were not running on the way back (you will see some guides doing this) but we were moving pretty quickly and only stopped briefly once.

Wilson’s Tips for Guatemala:
Utilize Uber when you can. Uber is fairly cheap in Guatemala and a great way to safely get around. Use local restaurants and cafes for wifi if you need it.
Chicken Buses cost about 5Q per person to get around Antigua. Most of the locals use them to get to and from work if they have to travel a distance. They get their name for the fashion in which some buses can become extremely crowded. But it's not a bad way to get across town if you're up for it!

Visit ANTIGUA | What you NEED to see | Guatemala TRAVEL VLOG

Antigua, a UNESCO town in Guatemala. Bright houses and cobbled streets, surrounded by volcanoes and charm. In this video we show you what you NEED to see here in a short time. We pack in 24 hours of exploration into the city and cover all the main sites, and some that you wouldn't always see in a guide book.

We took tips from local people to see everything in a short time, from the hilltop view of the city, to the markets (the touristy ones and the local ones). We saw some chocolate making, the famous yellow archway and other stunning colonial style architecture.

There is also great food in Antigua, Guatemala. We checked out the typical local food and places to go and get healthy snacks (I could eat banana bread all day). These are the things you NEED to see, and in this travel vlog we hope it shows you some inspiration if you are planning on coming here, as there doesn't always seen like much to do on the surface, unless you are staying for Spanish Schools.

The Real Antigua And Barbuda | Antigua Island Safari Tour | Caribbean Travel Vlog

Antigua and Barbuda have had a pretty rough past! Known for their Caribbean beauty, this Island Safari Tour showed us the real...⬇ More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop —

Antigua and Barbuda have sadly both experienced some tough circumstances over the years, but these little Caribbean beauties continue to pull tourists to the amazing beaches, food and people each year. We decided to take an island safari tour around Antigua to get a real feel for what Antigua is like outside of the tourist resorts.

Barbuda wasn't on our itinerary this time, but hopefully on our next visit to the Caribbean we will get the chance to also tour around Barbuda safari style to scope out how the island is/has recovered.

Thats a wrap on our Caribbean travel vlogs, this time in Antigua has been exactly what we needed... an eye opening experience, a luxury state and a chilled vibe. We've got nothing but love for the island and everyone we had the pleasure of meeting.
