French Guiana: the treasures hidden in the forest | WIDE
Olivier Dummett grew up alongside the Approuague river. One day, when he was exploring the river, he discovered an old abandoned cacao plantation. Since then, he has been harvesting the cacao trees and protecting the areas. He advocates that leaving the forest in its wild state can be more profitable for humans than cutting it down.
Mimiséku shares his beliefs. He is a medicine man and one of the last people alive to still know the secrets of French Guiana's plants. He is living proof that the forest has infinite therapeutic potential that could prove a treasure for our future.

The Guyanese cuisine is like its cooks: cosmopolitan and spicy. And Cayenne’s central market is as colorful as the dishes.
We meet Marie Therese Louise with whom we discover fruits and vegetables coming from Laos’ land, Guiana’s being to hard to labour. With them, the cooks here can do wonders. They show us three irresistible recipes: Amazonas snapper, shrimp tempura and croupia sandwich with cardamom butter.
