Rumor has it that this water has mystical healing powers. I’ve heard stories of people being cured of their skin infections and arthritis by soaking in the pond for a while. I’m not sure if I’m a believer but I can say it’s very different from anything I’ve ever seen.

Kevin told me that his great-grandmother accidentally discovered that the water could actually be lit on fire. She was burning something nearby and somehow the flames got out of hand and ended up in the water. Lo and behold, the flames kept burning on top of what was before thought to be a normal spring.

In shock, she ran off to tell everyone what she had seen but everyone thought she was seeing things, until they saw it for themselves.

Largely self-taught, Garvey attended school in Jamaica until he was 14. After traveling in Central America and living in London from 1912 to 1914, he returned to Jamaica, where, with a group of friends, he founded (August 1, 1914) the Universal Negro Improvement and Conservation Association and African Communities League, usually called the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), which sought, among other things, to build in Africa a Black-governed nation.

Fire Water in St Anns Bay, Jamaica

My second trip to Fire Water for the full treatment!

JAMAICA FIRE WATER || ST. ANN'S BAY JAMAICA || VLOG

So for this road trip we visited the famous 'Fire Water' in St. Ann's Bay.
We didn't want to take the full toll so we went across Flat Bridge and also stopped at the well known 'Pum Pum Rock'.

The Windsor Mineral Spring (more commonly known as Fire Water) is a small pool of water with a very unusual quality. The pool contains water which can catch fire! This phenomenon is believed to be caused by a high concentration of sulphur in the water.

Once you arrive at the community of Windsor, you'll be greeted by the residents who will usher you towards a bamboo and tarpaulin shielded enclosure. Inside lies the famous Fire Water. Your guide will demonstrate the fire water to you and let you walk through the flaming water.

There is a mineral spring in St. Ann Bay, Windsor to be exact, the guys there will lit the water and the fire will burn right on top of the water, until you deliberately put it out. It's very high in sulphur, it's just
amazing to see this fire burning on water.
