Why Albania ???????? is Making Weird Buildings? | Tirana
Albania ????????a country known for so many things it’s difficult to choose.
From amazing beaches to cute Balkan-style villages and towns like Berat and Gjirokaster, the most delicious food and the cutest and most welcoming people.
This is my first time here and before I get deeper into the country, I came to visit Tirana, the capital of Albania.
Tirana is an ancient city full of culture, with thousands of coffee shops. Yeah, for some reason people REALLY like coffee here ???????? and they make some of the best coffee I’ve ever tried.
Anyhow, this video is about something that caught my attention in Tirana, and it’s the fact that everywhere you walk there are new buildings being constructed, but not just regular buildings, very cool architectural buildings.
Tirana is a seismic area so the buildings are not very high, but in contrast, they put big efforts into creating something unique. All the new buildings have special colors, shapes, and concepts ???? it’s very interesting to see a city making efforts to create a sense of uniqueness in their infrastructure.
You can see these efforts also in the walking street lights, which are uniquely shaped as a “T” for Tirana.
So far I am really loving this country ❤️????????

TIRANA, ALBANIA | 8 BEST Things To Do In & Around Tirana
Tirana is located in central Albania and has been the country’s capital since 1920. And although it experienced political turmoil until 1991, the city has now evolved into the cultural and entertainment center of the country. Check out the Best Things to Do In & Around Tirana:
8. Free walking tour
The first and foremost thing you should do in Tirana is go on a free walking tour. During the 2.5 hour tour, you explore Tirana’s downtown area while learning about the city and country’s turbulent history, art, and everyday life. The tour runs every day from the Opera House.

7. Visit the New Bazaar
Tirana’s New Bazaar (Pazari ri Bazaar) is a newly renovated market that offers fresh fruits, vegetables, as well as souvenirs, local wine, and raki. Around the bazaar, you will find several bars and restaurants to drink and eat at. Many of these places are called ‘zgara’s’, which is a grill house.
6. Go on a day trip to Kruja
Located only 20 km north of Tirana, Kruja can easily be reached by public bus from the “South and North Albania Bus Terminal”. Kruja played a crucial role in the 15th century when it was the center of the Albanian opposition, led by the national hero Skanderbeg during the Ottoman invasion. Skenderbeg is still celebrated here today and there is even an entire museum dedicated to him. You can find this museum inside the beautiful castle that overlooks the town.
5. Wine & dine at Tirana Castle
Tirana also has its very own castle, located in the heart of the city. Only this fortress has been transformed into a commercial space, filled with restaurants, wine bars, art and souvenir shops. It’s actually a great place to have dinner with a glass of wine, and we found it quite affordable as well.
4. Explore Blloku
Another great area for entertainment in Tirana is Blloku. This small neighborhood really comes alive at night and is a trendy spot among locals. In addition to a variety of hip bars, night clubs, and cafés, you can also find some of the best restaurants in Tirana here.
3. Take the Dajti Ekspres
Located in the outskirts of Tirana, the Dajti Ekspres cable car takes you to Dajti National Park which is 1,613m above sea level. It’s easy to get to the cable car station by public bus. Once you’re in the cable car, the ride offers panoramic views of Tirana and the nature around it.

2. Visit Bunk’art
Bunk’art 1 is a large bunker with five levels, which was meant to be used by communist leader Hoxha and his regime in case of a nuclear attack. The bunker has now been converted into a museum, which covers the history of Albania’s past century in great detail. But it’s the preserved rooms, conceptual art, and sound effects that really bring the story to life.
1. Hike Lake Bovilla
Lake Bovilla is a stunning reservoir that lies within Dajti National Park. Surrounded by two mountain ranges, hiking is the best activity you can do here. Gamti Mountain offers the most spectacular views of the lake and doesn’t require any experience. There are even some man-made stairs that help you get to the top.

First Day in Albania - Tirana Vlog ????????
I traveled from UIcinj, Montenegro, to Tirana, Albania, with a stop at Shkoder, and in this video I captured the experience of the journey to Tirana, my first impressions of a proper tour of the capital city of Albania and my interactions with Albanians. I went to the main mosque, Skanderbeg square, visited the vestiges of Communism and Enver Hoxha's rule (like the nuclear bunkers), saw lots of Mercedes cars around the city and met more than my fair share of friendly people! If you're trying to figure out what to do in Tirana or want to learn more about what makes this difference.

This is a complete Albania Travel Guide for 7 days (and 6 nights), in this video, I will show you how to spend 7 days in Albania. Visiting as many as places, while you won't feel fed up or exhausted.
Albania has so much to offer, and we really love staying here. We rent a car in Tirana, it's like a road trip to the paradise, and we manage to discover many beautiful places along with hidden gem with limit of time. (As we slept as much as we needed :-P No rush for anything.) It is truly relaxing holiday, although we both prefer to spend more time in Albania, as the weather, landscape, food, expense are just right for us.

Albanien ist ein Land, das nach 50 Jahren der Isolation allmählich den Anschluss an Europa findet. Zeugen der Vergangenheit finden sich an vielen Orten, vor allem in Tirana, der Hauptstadt. Die Aufarbeitung der sozialistischen Vergangenheit hat erst in den letzten Jahren allmählich begonnen. Nach wie vor ist die Villa des ehemaligen Diktators Enver Hoxha im Stadtzentrum von Tirana nicht öffentlich zugänglich. Auch die (im Clip kurz gezeigte) Pyramide, die als Denkmal für Enver Hoxha gedacht war, steht nach wie vor als Bauruine in einem Park des Zentrums.

Albania's best beach is not what I expected... | Albania Travel Vlog Day 6 (Gipje Beach)
On day 6 of our Albania Travel, we took a day trip out of Dhermi to visit what many consider to be the most beautiful beach in Albania: Gipje Beach.
This beautiful, secluded beach is located at the bottom of a Canyon and only accessible on foot or via boat. With crystal clear blue water, high cliffs and a laid back feel, this beach is often considered to be a hidden gem in Albania. But is it really? After visiting, I must say I had some mixed feeling.

One day trip to Tirana Albania (2022.6) Jessibaby travel vlog ????????
As the capital city of Albania, there are many things to see and do, one day is totally not enough for visiting. However, if you got a limited schedule for your trip in Albania, and Tirana is the first place you landed, it would be a good choice to choose a city centre hotel and take a walk around.
History is the best mark of this city, although you can see many modern buildings are under construction, I am sure Albania is going to be a tourism and commercial place well known shortly.
There are many places to visit for 1-2 days stay in Tirana, and the places I recommended are all within walking distances.????
????Skanderbeg Square/Skënderbeg Square (Free)
As the main attraction of Tirana, you can resist to take pictures here. It is a huge open space with various different facets on its periphery - gardens, statues, monuments, etc.
The Clock Tower, Et’hem Bey Mosque, Skanderbeg Statue, Bank of Albania, Palace of Culture, and National Museum of History are all the main attraction is just right on the square. In the square you can use free Wi-Fi hence locals tend to hang around. Going from the square, pedestrian streets are full of historical buildings and very worth taking a walk.
By the way, pop in one of the cafe in the Palace of Culture, checking out the sight of the square while enjoying the drinks is a MUST.
????National Historical Museum/Muzeu Historik Kombetar (500 Leks)
In June 2022, the outside is under renovation, although you cannot see the real mosaic above the main entrance of the museum. But the picture which is covered very likely. This mosaic called ‘The Albanians’ is a story of Albanians who fought against invasion throughout the centuries, it was devastating to go through so many wars and occupations.
Housing the most important historical collection in the country, it was opened in 1981, collection from the Paleolithic era to communist times. At the National History Museum, you will embark on a great and fascinating exploration of the history and the culture of this nation.

????Bunk'Art 2 (500 Leks)
There was a rumor that Albania got 700,000 bunkers, but the government officially said 173,000. Today, though many bunkers have collapsed or been destroyed. Many are abandoned, that you can find on the path to the mountain or by the coastline. Some are repurposed and converted to restaurants, cafes, stores and museums.
Bunk'Art 2 is an ex-nuclear bunker that was transformed into a museum. A very interesting historic place in the heart of Tirana - mostly about Sigurimi the brutal police of the communist dictator. It preserved an insightful and painful look into the lives of Albanians under the rule of Enver Hoxha.

???? Pyramid of Tirana /Piramida (Temporarily Closed)
The Pyramid (previously called: Enver Hoxha Pyramid) was designed as a museum by the late Albanian communist leader’s daughter. It is to show Enver Hoxha's power and to maintain his legacy. After the fall of Communism, this unique monument, became a symbol of the previous era and was repurposed multiple times, until it lost its appeal.
Dutch-architecture studio MVRDV is set to convert the 11,835-square-metre pyramid in central Tirana into a peoples monument that contains cafes, studios, workshops and classrooms where free lessons will be available to young Albanians.
