Saint Martin (French: Saint-Martin; Dutch: Sint Maarten) is an island in the northeast Caribbean Sea, approximately 300 km (190 mi) east of Puerto Rico. The 87 square kilometres (34 sq mi) island is divided roughly 60:40 between the French Republic (53 square kilometres (20 sq mi)) and the Kingdom of the Netherlands (34 square kilometres (13 sq mi)), but the Dutch part is more populated than the French part. The division dates to 1648. The northern French part comprises the Collectivity of Saint Martin and is an overseas collectivity of the French Republic. As part of France, the French part of the island is also part of the European Union. The southern Dutch part comprises Sint Maarten and is one of four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Netherlands Antilles was a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The country consisted of several island territories located in the Caribbean Sea. The islands were also informally known as the Dutch Antilles.

Maho Beach is known for its location at the end of an airport runway, with the airplanes coming in just overhead. St. Maarten is the smallest landmass shared by two different countries, with one-half of the country (St. Maarten) being Dutch and the other half (St. Martin) being French.

WHAT AN AMAZING PORT!! Our First Time in St. Maarten - Harmony of the Seas
I love visitng a cruise port we have never been to before!! Today we are in St. Maarten for the first time! We did not make any plans, no excursions, so we just decided to hop off the ship, take the water taxi into town and go explore.
Let me say, this was such a better experience than we expected!! The water shuttle was a fun ride and the port was great! There was beach access with beautiful water... and a breathtaking view, lots of shops and restaurants... and bars. It is the perfect port to meader for the day and just enjoy the town!

In today's video, I am going to give you a tour of Philipsburg St. Maarten cruise port and city. This Philpsburg cruise port and city tour can be used as a guide for what to do at the cruise port and things to do in walking distance of the cruise port in St. Maarten.
I haven't done to many port tours because usually it's my first time there and it's hard to make a cruise port video and city tour while I'm still discovering the place myself. However, I think I came up with a cruise port tour format that not only gives you useful information but allows me to explore and learn more about the area without having to worry about shooting a video explaining where I am in the moment.

???????? What to do in St. Maarten! - Philipsburg Cruise Port Tour
St. Maarten is known as the friendly island. Today we are at the Philipsburg St. Maarten cruise port and will tell you everything you need to know about the port. We are going to review the port atmosphere, what is near by and how you can prepare for your day in St. Maarten.
Philipsburg St. Maarten has two docks. They are able to accommodate the largest ships at sea, like Royal Caribbean's Oasis class. If both piers are full it would get pretty busy at the cruise port. When stopped at St. Maarten we were the only cruise ship there and we were not at full capacity so it was not pretty quiet.
The name of the St. Maarten Philipsburg cruise port is Harbour Point Village. The atmosphere is really about shopping. There are lots of shops and a little market area. You have all your typical cruise port shops like Diamonds international. There were lots of souvenir shops that were locally owned and had a good variety of gifts. St. Maarten what to do is a question we got asked a lot. As the port area is mainly shopping we recommend heading into town if you are looking for a restaurant or beaches. The water taxi is only $7 which will get you into town and back.

Harmony of the Seas - Day 4 - St. Martin / St. Maarten - Royal Caribbean Cruise Line
Join Zach & Collin in St. Martin / St. Maarten for Day 4 of their Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas 7-Night Eastern Caribbean & Perfect Day cruise from Port Canaveral! Zach & Collin toured the entire island of St. Martin beginning in Philpsburg. They then took a taxi over to Maho Beach to watch the airplanes take off and land. They also ate lunch at Sunset Beach. They then traveled to the French portion of St. Martin to explore Orient Beach and made their way back to the port. Back on Harmony of the Seas was meant for some pool time and relaxing before getting ready for evening activities. They saw a show at the Aquatheater and then went to the Royal Theater to see juggler and comedian Billy Prudhomme. Zach & Collin had dinner at Chops Grille before turning in for the evening.

AIRPLANE BEACH! St. Maarten Shore Excursion with Royal Caribbean
Our 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise onboard the Harmony of the Seas brought us to St. Maarten where we hit the popular travel bucket list item: Maho Beach (AKA Airplane Beach). We arrived early in the morning, and our shore excursion was very organized and easy to follow. You simply find your meeting point outside the ship. Once you get with your guide, you board a 20-25 min. bus ride/tour of the island before arriving to Maho Beach to relax. This is the beach where airplanes fly right over your head before landing at the International airport just across the street. Next to the beach is also a large bar and grille where you can get into some shade, and enjoy a nice, cold, refreshing beverage before your excursion comes to an end.

St Martin or St Maarten was a wonderful place to visit while we were on Royal Caribbean Symphony of the seas. St Martin has a lot to offer for first time visitors. You are able to visit Maho Beach, Paradise Peak, and Cupecoy Beach while there. After getting of Symphony of the seas Royal Caribbean, we had one day to see all of what St Maarten had to offer.
