The smallest city of the Netherlands: Bronkhorst
Bronkhorst has city rights since 1482 and is the smallest city of the Netherlands. It has 90 inhabitants and is very popular for a visit by bicycle. The river IJssel is closeby and you can take a ferry to cross the water. Bronkhorst used the have a castle but it was removed around 1828. You can still see what it looked like. There is a scale model at the former location.

Driving in the Netherlands: N337 & N348 from Deventer to Zutphen
In this video you can ride along on provinciale wegen N337 & N348 from Deventer to Zutphen in the East of the Netherlands. The N337 is a provincial road that connects the city of Zwolle with the city of Deventer. It's quite scenic as it follows the path of the IJssel river.
The N348 is a provincial road that connects Deventer with Arnhem via Zutphen. South of Zutphen it becomes an expressway and eventually even a motorway (A348).
Deventer is a city with about a 100.000 inhabitants in the Overijssel province. It has a historic center worth seeing. Zutphen is a smaller city with about 50.000 inhabitants and also worth visiting.

A walk in Zutphen, a city in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands.
Zutphen is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, home to almost 400 national monuments and over 500 local monuments. It is sometimes called “Torenstad” (city of towers), because of the number of buildings with a tower in the old city centre.
It's a very atmospheric place, straight out of a fairy tale, with its towers, defence walls and old buildings, narrow streets and hidden garden. I hope you'll enjoy this walk!

In this episode, I visit the former Hanseatic town of Zutphen. The town, situated on the spot where the river Berkel flows into the IJssel, is arguably one of the prettiest towns of its size in the Netherlands. Largely untouched by war and industrialisation, the primarily medieval and early modern centre is a gem well worth a visit.

The museum has around 2000 statues of saints and was founded in 1999. The collection consists largely of donations from private individuals, monasteries and churches. The museum is run entirely by volunteers (about 75).
On either side of the church's central aisle are twelve statues of the apostles, all man-sized. In addition to the name on the pedestal, they can also be recognized by the attributes they are holding. These statues are a donation from a church in Tilburg.
Around the Christmas period, the museum also displays a number of nativity scenes.

The Saint Anthony of Padua Church was built in 1856 to a design by dutchman Pierre Cuypers and only consecrated in 1867. It was the second church that Cuypers designed and the oldest church still in existence by the architect. His name is most frequently associated with designing the Amsterdam Central Station and the Rijksmuseum, both in Amsterdam.
Tower tour. On the last saturdays of the month, from end March to end October (12:00 to 16:00, it is possible to visit the organ loft, the bell loft and the cross-ribbed vaults above the church via the tower stairs. Visitors are accompanied by a museum volunteer who also provides relevant information. (Not suitable for people with a fear of heights; the tower stairs/ladders are very steep and high.)
Entrance fee is 7,50 euro (2024).
