[Vlog] How to get to Nam Sang Wai (南生围) from Yuen Long (元朗) MTR Station (2017)

These footage are recorded back in April 2017.

From Yuen Long MTR station and choose Exit A the cross the road, you will be going to Yuen Long Kau Hui Road (元朗旧墟路). Walk straight to the end of Yuen Long Kau Hui Road then turn to right at to Shan Pui Road (山贝路). After passing a public toilet, you will see a Nam Sang Wai Jetty signboard. Follow the sign and walk for a few more minutes you will see the jetty. The fee is 6 HKD per ride, add 1 HKD for those with bicycle along. The journey is about 15 - 20 minutes, 1.3 km.
We took minibus 611 back to MTR Station, because we were lazy to walk another 1.3 km.

Tai Mo Shan | Hong Kong's Ten Best Walks

Drone and Phone seeks to define Hong Kong’s 10 best hikes. We are counting them down. Today it’s number seven, Tai Mo Shan. At 20 kilometers, it’s one of our longest day hikes but includes water, wildlife and the region’s tallest peak.

Yuen Long: A Country Within A Country

Went there on Sep 28.

RIP I totally forgot the intro animation.

Edit (Oct 17): wow I've missed a lot of things.
13:26 The building to the right of the temple was 晉源押 (Chun Yuen Ngat), a pawn shop built in the 1910s, the lime bricks create an insulation effect so that it could keep the building warm in winters while cool in summers. The granite base is built expensively. It has a wulou shaped metal pointing out of the building, some said its meant to be shaped as a bat with a coin inside, to attract customers
17:16 While walking towards the second temple, I passed by a right-turn which leads to Lei Yik Street, it is full of Grade II and Grade III heritage sites. Tung Yik Inn 同益棧 is the only surviving inn in Hong Kong that dates back to Qing dynasty. To the opposite, there is a wall mural painting drawn on the outside of the 2nd story of the building. In 1898, some members of the British army lived in this inn.
17:50 The fish scale style road serves as a plaza where villagers meet up and have annual feasts. Yi Tai temple is built in 1714, it has a vertical board on top of the entrance, which was incredible because a vertical board is only allowed under royal approval. There is a small stone cauldron in the middle of the temple for offering wine.

香港旅遊 / 街拍 (006) 元朗 南生圍 (2011年) Yuen Long Nam Sang Wai

Nam Sang Wai (Chinese: 南生圍) is a wetland area to the north of Yuen Long, in Hong Kong.
Geography[edit]
Nam Sang Wai covers a roughly triangular area. It is bordered by the Shan Pui River in the west, separating it from Yuen Long Industrial Estate, the Kam Tin River in the east and a branch of the Kam Tin River in the south.

Flora and fauna[edit]
It is home to many birds, including seagulls, northern pintails (Anas acuta), yellow-nib ducks (Anas poecilorhyncha) and black-faced spoonbills (Platalea minor).[1] Flora includes reeds and mangroves.[2]

Conservation[edit]
In what is considered to be a landmark case in the history of Hong Kong’s planning law regime, the Privy Council upheld the decision of the Town Planning Appeal Board approving development of a large scale residential, golf course, and nature reserve at Nam Sang Wai with conditions.[3] The validity of planning permission was extended three times. In late 2010 a further extension was denied by the Town Planning Board.[4]

Development[edit]
KHI Holdings Group, which retains 50 percent of the Nam Sang Wai Development Company Limited (NSWD), resumed the role of project manager in 2011 for development at Nam Sang Wai and Lut Chau. The group has initiated the planning process under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance by submitting a project profile to the Environmental Protection Department and applying for a study brief.[5]

The NSWD recently launched a website detailing their plans for development.[6]

Access[edit]
A small boat in the southern part of Nam Sang Wai serves as a ferry across the Kam Tin River towards the village of Shan Pui Tsuen, north of Yuen Long Kau Hui.[7]

A road, the Nam Sang Wai Road, runs along the eastern edge and most of the western edge of Nam Sang Wai.

My name is Dennis. In 2009, I opened this channel to record or document this city. I know something is being changed in next decade(s), or I felt the change have began since 2003, no later in 2046. I want to, at least, save some kind of city life in video form instead of taken photo or written in words. I strongly believe that motion picture and sound recording are much better way to preserve and present in the future when young generation want to get know of Hong Kong.

In May of 2018, I wrote the following statement in below:
.....................................................................................
Hi everyone, thank you for supporting me in fulfilling my childhood dream of making videos.
My parents had always taken a tolerant attitude toward my “capricious”: whether my work is feasible and sustainable... and they never complained about it.
As my father just passed away in May, I am left with no choice but to give up my video making venture.
In Hong Kong where the cost of living is sky high, youtube video making is simply not sustainable by google adsense alone. The revenue produced is way too insufficient for affording a domestic helper, and I must look after my mom all by myself - this is why I must stay very close to her at all times.
Unless my revenue is closed to market rate, or my income can cover a domestic helper, otherwise I can hardly justify any video-related works.
Therefore, from now on everything video will be postponed in terms of year(s).
Thank you, and hope to see you all again in the future.

Because I am the only son of my mother in Hong Kong, and I have to take care of her at home. I almost give up this channel because of high consumption of time and living cost. But I found some extra time.

I live in Fanling, north part of New Territories, so it will include my showtime of traveling back and forth. Because of home care to my old mother, there will be no time other than 9:00 to 16:00 because my mother is staying at the senior daycare center, so before and after that, I will NOT able to do filming.

I understand most of you are looking for high quality of video, e.g. 4K or 8K. But hardware is so important at this post-production, that is, the higher quality video, the higher powerful computer to render video. In recently, I solved matter by paid for PowerDirector apps to make 4K on my Pocophone F1, 1 hour of 4K video = 2 hour to make, besides, the convert 4K file time is around 24 hours......

I will continue to run this channel as long as the time is fit-on-me or I don't see any kind of video job could fit me.

I hope this is clear to everyone.
