Banan District belongs to the main urban area of Chongqing and the Chongqing metropolitan area. It is located in the southwest of Chongqing. It was formerly known as Mingyiba County, where the Ba people established their capital during the Shang Dynasty. In December 1994, the county was withdrawn and the district was established.
As of July 2020, Banan District has jurisdiction over 14 towns and 9 streets. 198 administrative villages, 1860 villager groups; 102 urban communities, 1726 resident groups.
As of the end of 2017, it covers an area of 1834.23 square kilometers; according to the seventh census data, as of 0:00 on November 1, 2020, Banan District has a permanent population of 11.788.5 million.
In 2020, Banan District will achieve a GDP of 86.55 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5% at comparable prices.
Banan District is rich in tourism resources, mainly including Yudong Wupi cherry, Wubu pomelo and other geographical indication products, as well as scenic spots such as South Hot Spring, East Hot Spring, and Shengdeng Mountain National Forest. On February 2, 2019, it was rated as a county-level national advanced unit of traditional Chinese medicine work by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. 杨虎城（1893－1949），陕西蒲城人，1912年投身于孙中山先生领导的辛亥革命运动，1917年参加反对北洋军阀的靖国军，后又参加了国民军。他于1924年加入国民党，拥护孙中山的联俄、联共、扶助农工的三大政策，先后任国民军师长、国民革命军军长，十七路军总指挥等职。
Yang Hucheng (1893-1949), a native of Pucheng, Shaanxi, joined the Revolutionary Movement of 1911 led by Mr. Sun Yat-sen in 1912, joined the Yasukuni Army against the Beiyang warlords in 1917, and later joined the National Army. He joined the Kuomintang in 1924 and supported Sun Yat-sen's three major policies of uniting Russia, uniting the Communist Party, and helping agricultural workers.

Yang Hucheng Mansion, also known as Zhiyuan, was built in 1935, formerly known as Purple Garden, is a villa with ethnic architectural style. When the garden was built, General Yang Hucheng returned to his division from Jiaodong and Yudong victoriously and named it Purple Garden with the initials of Ziqi Donglai. In 1936, he accepted the suggestion of Mr. Li Yuanding, who was involved in the Kuomintang government, to take the first word Zhi Ge is Wu. The calligrapher Kou Xia's official script inscribed the plaque Zhi Yuan and changed Purple Garden to Zhi Yuan.

龙洞水库，又名筲箕窝水库(Shāojīwō Shuǐkù)，在广州市东北郊天河区龙洞附近，建于1958年。地处天河区龙洞原筲箕窝村得名。集雨面积9.5平方公里，总库容516万立方米。
附近有很多高校学院，广州金融学院，广州医科大学（龙洞校区），广州卫生职业技术学院等多间高校，高校外面生活区，简单是美食一条街。水库附近还有各种农庄山庄，豪源山庄，珍姐聚友饭店，二叔公餐厅，广州市水生野生动物保护基地，凤凰生态园。
水库东边道路为渔东路，周边单位有：颐和山水别墅，凤凰山庄，会友山庄，肥仔鱼庄。水库里面深林里面还可以玩山地摩托, 露营，野战，钓鱼，钓鱼虾等户外的项目
Longdong reservoir, also known as Shau Kei Wo reservoir (SH) ā oj ī w ō Shu ǐ K ù), near Longdong, Tianhe District, northeast suburb of Guangzhou, was built in 1958. It is located in the original Shau Kei Wo village of Longdong, Tianhe District. The rainwater collection area is 9.5 square kilometers and the total storage capacity is 5.16 million cubic meters.
There are many colleges and universities nearby, such as Guangzhou Institute of finance, Guangzhou Medical University (Longdong campus), Guangzhou health vocational and technical college and so on. The living area outside the colleges and universities is simply a food street. Near the reservoir, there are all kinds of farms and villas, Haoyuan villa, Zhenjie Juyou Hotel, er Shugong restaurant, Guangzhou aquatic wildlife protection base and Phoenix ecological park.

Aerial China:Chongqing Light Rail Line 2重慶輕軌2號線
Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 is the first urban rail transit line in western China and the first straddle monorail line in China. It is identified as forest green; it is famous all over the country for its trains passing through buildings at Liziba Station. The section from Daping to the zoo started sightseeing operation on November 6, 2004; the section from Jiaochangkou to the zoo started sightseeing operation on December 11, 2004, and opened for trial operation on June 18, 2005; the section from the zoo to Xinshan Village started in 2006 Trial operation opened on July 1, 2014; Xinshancun to Yudong section opened trial operation on December 30, 2014.
Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 is roughly in an inverted L-shape, starting from Jiaochangkou Station in the east, passing through Yuzhong District, Jiulongpo District, Dadukou District, Banan District, and ending at Yudong Station in the south.
As of December 2020, Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 has an operating mileage of 31.36 kilometers and a total of 25 stations, including 22 elevated stations and 3 underground stations; it uses 4/6-segment straddle monorails.
Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 uses straddle monorail trains. The first batch of trains was designed and produced by Japan's Hitachi Company Kasado Vehicle Factory. Each section can carry 150 passengers, each can be grouped into 4 to 8 sections, and can carry up to 1,200 people each time, and the departure time can be as short as every 2.5 minutes One time, and the noise is only about 50 decibels. Due to the passenger flow, the train was later changed to the production of China CNR Group, with a six-car marshalling one draw, and it was officially launched on November 19, 2012.

Liziba Station is the first straddle monorail elevated station co-existing with commercial and residential buildings in China. It was completed in March 2004 and covers an area of 3,100 square meters and a building area of 6,000 square meters.
