Jiulongpo District is located in the central urban area of Chongqing’s main city metropolitan area. Jiangjin District, a part of Chongqing Municipality, is located in the southwest of Chongqing City, named after its location on the Yangtze River, which was founded in the fifth year of Yongming in Southern Qi (487 AD) and is a shipping hub and material distribution center in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
Jiangjin District is adjacent to Banan District and Qijiang District in the east, Xishui County in Guizhou Province in the south, Yongchuan District and Hegiang County in Sichuan Province in the west, and Bishan District, Jiulongpo District and Dadukou District in the north, with an area of 3,200.44 square kilometers and 5 streets and 25 towns under its jurisdiction. According to the data of the seventh census, as of November 1, 2020, Jiangjin District had a resident population of 1,359,600 people.
