NEW JERSEY'S MOST CHARMING TOWN - LAMBERTVILLE, NJ | THINGS TO DO IN NEW JERSEY | RV LIFE

Looking for the perfect New Jersey day trip? Lambertville, NJ might be just the spot for you! This charming town is tucked along the Delaware River, just across the bridge from its sister town New Hope, PA (equally as charming).

Lambertville is regarded as NJ’s antique store capital. Its streets are lined with colonial style homes, local shops and eateries. Take a stroll across the bridge to New Hope, PA which has even more shopping and restaurants. We were lucky enough to visit during Lambertville’s Holiday Festival which had live music & local vendors.

🇺🇸 Don’t miss all the incredible history the area has to offer. We also visited Washington Crossing State Park, the site of George Washington’s famous Christmas night crossing of the Delaware River with his troops. A decision that would have a major impact on the result of Revolutionary War.

CR 571- From NJ 133 (Princeton/Hightstown Rd.) to US 1

From NJ 133 we merge onto CR 571 and make our way towards US 1 in Penns Peak.

Other than for a brief time in Manchester, this is the only other four lane section of 571 for its entire length from Princeton to Toms River.

Princeton/Hightstown Rd. (CR 571) is a vital link between Hightstown and Princeton.

A freeway was intended run from the Hightstown area and link up with US 206 in the Montgomery/Princeton area. Only a small portion of the road was ever constructed- the bridge over the railway in Princeton Junction at around the 7:38 mark. This portion of the roadway is technically signed as NJ 64 until it merges back onto CR 571 on the other side.

This freeway should have been built as it is very difficult to access the New Jersey/Pennsylvania border area due to insufficient highways like the two-lane NJ 31 to the west and the equally archaic two-lane US 206. I dread taping that portion of US 206.

Yosemite All Weather Highway - Predating Hwy 140 - We explore the bypassed 1916 Legislative Route 18

The Yosemite All Weather Highway actually predates California's Highway 140 designation. Not so far west of Yosemite National Park, between Mariposa and the California Gold Country, and the city of Merced in California's agricultural Central Valley, lies a 30 mile section of the original Legislative Route 18. LR 18 was constructed in 3 phases beginning in 1909. The section we explore in this video was constructed in 1916, beginning at the Mariposa County line and ending in the town of Mariposa. LR 18 would not be completed until 1926 due to being delayed by WWI. Once completed, it would create an uninterrupted, unpaved driving route extending from Merced to the western entrance of Yosemite National Park, a distance of about 70 miles. Less than 7 years after the All Weather Highway was completed, approximately 30 miles of the original LR 18 would be bypassed in 1932. After being bypassed this original section of LR 18 would come to be known simply as Old Highway. In 1934 the entire length of LR 18, including the new alignment, would be rebadged as California State Highway 140. These days, this old alignment is used primarily by locals and sight-seeing history seeking geeks such as myself. During the right time of year it's a beautiful drive however, be forewarned, road conditions vary and some are in extremely poor condition. But it's a very cool piece of highway history, with connections to some even older roads predating LR 18. And it's just a very nice drive between the community of Mariposa, in California's Gold Country, and the Central Valley city of Merced, known as The Gateway to Yosemite. So there it is, a low-key and not very detailed video, but a very fun drive through the foothills with a glimpse back into history.

POV Driving From Langhorne, Pennsylvania to Trenton, NJ On July 24th

After having rotten luck yet again with fire buffing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Wednesday July 24th I decided to call it a day & drive back to Trenton, NJ across the Delaware River. The POV video starts as I'm driving on Route 1 North near the exit for Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne before passing by the Morrisville toll plaza & crossing the Delaware River bridge on the highway. The letters on the Trenton Makes Bridge were apparently not on which really surprised me since it always happens at night. After getting off Route 1 at the exit for Trenton Transit Center I then turned onto South Clinton Avenue in the city since I was heading to a station nearby. It was just after 9 PM when this POV video was shot. Thankfully I didn't encounter heavy traffic tonight since it was a weekday. Hopefully next time I'll have luck.
