FANTASTIC RAILWAY.BULGARIA ENGLISH VERSION. #Bulgaria#Velingrad#Avramovo#Railway
Rhodope narrow-gauge railway impresses with its beauty and originality of the landscape.
Her route runs through exceptionally picturesque places - the Gornothracian lowland, the Rila, Rhodopes and Pirin mountains.
Apparently, this is what impressed the British, who voted and included the only narrow-gauge railway left in Bulgaria in the TOP-10 in the questionnaire of The Guardian newspaper.
The narrow gauge railway Septemvri - Dobrinishte or Line No. 16 is the last operating line of the narrow gauge railway, 760 mm gauge, of the Bulgarian State Railways BDZ. It leads from the city of Septemvri through Velingrad and Bansko to Dobrinishte. The route passes between the Rila and Rhodope mountain ranges and ends to the east of the Pirin Mountains. The total length of the line is 125 km, the average travel time is about 5 hours. Avraamovo is the highest mountain railway station in Bulgaria 1267 meters above sea level and the Balkans. Avramovo is a village in the Blagoevgrad region of Bulgaria. It is part of the Yakoruda community. It is located about 2 km north of the center of the city of Yakoruda and about 47 km east of the center of the city of Blagoevgrad. According to the 2011 census, 723 people lived in the village. Mostly populated by Muslim Bulgarians.

[4K] Теснолинейката; Всички гари от Септември до Добринище / Stations from Septemvri to Dobrinishte
In this video you can see all the stations of the only remaining narrow gauge railway in Bulgaria - from Septemvri to Dobrinishte. You can enjoy the beauty of three of the mountains in Bulgaria - Rila, Rodopi and Pirin. You can also see some of the most popular resort towns in Bulgaria - Velingrad, Yakoruda, Razlog, Bansko and Dobrinishte. The composition of the fast train 1661 was 6-car, hauled by narrow-gauge diesel locomotive 75 005 of BDZ PP. The purpose of this trip was to photograph the entire distance between Septemvri and Dobrinishte, but due to a problem with the records, I was only able to save those with stations. The recording issue is also the culprit behind the delay in publishing this video. I have also purposely left somewhere where there are no stations due to the many beautiful sights on this route. The entries for shot with Gopro Hero 9 on 30.06.2022. Have a nice viewing!

100 National Tourist Objects in Bulgaria (WP app)
100NTO (100 National Tourist Objects) is a Windows phone app. It provides a list of all historical, geographical and cultural sights included in Bulgarian Tourist Society's catalog.
Exploring the capabilities of the interface, the app displays all the information in an intuitive , user-friendly manner. The objects are presented in a filtere list or on a map, where you can also see your position. All objects feature detailed description with contact information, GPS coordinates, opening hours, images, distance from current location, and more. With 100NTO it is pretty easy to plan your trip -- just browse the list and add the sights you want to visit, or tap the nearby objects for more info. A background agent sends you push notifications when you're close to an object included in the list. There is an option to mark the sights already visited keeping track of your exploration progress. With no need of an internet connection, you can leave the maps and guides behind, grab your phone and enjoy Bulgaria!

We show you the best things to do at the black sea coast of Bulgaria in this episode and give tips for excursions and tours you should do when you visit.
Bulgaria has so much more sights than just the beaches like golden sands and sunny beach - it also has more things to do than just drinking cheap alcohol and joining the parties:
The ancient towns of Sozopol and Nesebar are amongst the oldest cities of Bulgaria and are very nice located - totally worth a visit!
Varna is one of the biggest cities of the country and therefore a bit more hustling and bustling, but if you head out of town e.g. to Raponggi Beach you also find some quiet spots to relax.
Especially the coast north of Varna with it's cliffs is very stunning, the following spots have been our favorite places at the black sea coast:
- Cape Kaliakra
- Thracian Cliffs Golf & Beach Resort
- Botanical Garden of Balchik
In the next episode of our Balkan Road Trip we'll visit Skopje in Macedonia!

Narrow-gauge Train Ride in Bulgaria #shorts #travel
#shorts #travel
Join us on a ride in a time machine!
The narrow-gauge train ride between Velingrad and Avramovo in beautiful Bulgaria feels like a step back in time.
Narrow-gauge trains are a rarity nowadays.
In mountainous places such as the Bulgarian highlands, the trails take numerous turns and go through countless tunnels. The narrow-gauge trains are the only means of transportation for hundreds of people.
The 760-mm-wide railway Septemvri – Velingrad – Dobrinishte is the last remaining of its kind in Bulgaria. Due to the terrain, the average speed of the trains is 40 km/h (25 mph). Hence, a distance of 125 km (78 mi) is traveled in about 5 hours.
The most spectacular part of the railway is between the train stations Velingrad and the small village Avramovo.
The tracks follow the curves of the Rhodope Mountains between mesmerizing hills, by green meadows, through pine tree forests, and numerous tunnels. The ride takes exactly one hour.
The last 9 km before Avramovo, the train passes through 16 tunnels and travels an 8-shaped serpentine. It then arrives at the highest train station on the Balkans, located at an altitude of 1,267 m (4,157 ft.) above sea level.
The line was constructed between the 1920s and the 1940s and it seems like time has stopped in the villages whose train stations you’ll pass. Some of the station buildings haven’t been renovated since their construction.
Passengers on the narrow-gauge train travel the distance between Velingrad and their home villages several times a week. There’s no other way for them to get the supplies for their everyday needs. Some of them also visit Velingrad to sell their own produce: milk, honey, jams, cheese, and souvenirs.
While we were simply riding the train as entertainment and to admire the mesmerizing views from the window, for these people the narrow-gauge train is part of their sustenance.

Vacation in Bulgaria - The Marvelous Bridges, Rhodope mountains (The Wonder Bridges)
This is one of the many amazing sites we visited during our vacation in eastern Europe - the rock formation Marvelous (wonder) bridges. These 160 ft (50 meters) high marvels of nature are situated almost 5000 ft (1500m) above sea level and had us fall in love with the Rhodope mountains.
