Xiangyang(Xiangfan), Hubei, China
Xiangyang, formerly known as Xiangfan, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province and a provincial sub-center city, a new industrial base in Hubei Province and a central city in northwest Hubei Province, as determined by the State Council. Xiangyang has 3 municipal districts and 3 counties, and 3 county-level cities under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 19,700 square kilometers. According to the seventh census, Xiangyang has a resident population of 5260,951 as of November 1, 2020.
Xiangyang is located in central China, northwestern Hubei, and in the middle reaches of the Han River, and is a central city in the Han River Basin and an important member of the Middle Yangtze River City Group. In 2021, Xiangyang achieved a regional GDP of 530.943 billion yuan.
Xiangyang is a national historical and cultural city, which was founded by King Xuan of Zhou, who appointed Zhong Shanfu (Fan Muzhong) to the city. It has been known as the first city in China, the iron city of Xiangyang, and the place where soldiers must fight.

Xiangyang (襄阳), located in northwestern Hubei (湖北) province, China, is the second-largest prefecture-level city by population in the region. The city, historically known as Xiangfan (襄樊) until 2010, plays a pivotal role due to its strategic location on the Han River, which bisects it into northern and southern halves. Xiangyang is an amalgamation of two once separate cities: Fancheng and Xiangyang (or Xiangcheng), with Fancheng lying north of the Han River and Xiangyang to the south. This area is notable for containing one of China's oldest still-intact city walls.
Xiangyang's history is rich and varied, having been a crucial site for several significant battles throughout Chinese history. It served as the capital of Jing Province (ancient Jingzhou) during the final years of the Eastern Han dynasty, under the governance of the warlord Liu Biao. The city was a refuge for the northern elite fleeing warfare in the Central Plain and witnessed the pivotal Battle of Fancheng during the late Han-Three Kingdoms period.
In modern times, Xiangyang has become a target for government and private investment aimed at urbanizing and developing China's interior provinces. The city's economy is diverse, with textile production, machinery manufacture, chemical processing, and electronics being key industries. Xiangyang is also a significant agricultural center, producing grain, cotton, vegetable oil crops, tobacco, tea, and fruit. Additionally, it is known as an automobile hub, home to Dongfeng Motors, and has partnerships with foreign manufacturers to produce vehicles for domestic sales.
The city's administrative structure includes nine county-level divisions, comprising three districts, three county-level cities, and three counties, further divided into 159 township-level divisions. Xiangyang's strategic importance is underscored by its role as a transportation hub, with several major railways intersecting here and the Han River facilitating commercial transport. The city also boasts the Hubei Free Trade Zone, part of a national effort to open up and develop the region's economy further.
Xiangyang's rich history, strategic location, and economic significance make it a key city in China's ongoing development and a fascinating subject of study for those interested in the country's past and future.

Yicheng City, a county-level city in Hubei Province, is under the administration of Xiangyang City. It is located in the northwestern part of Hubei Province, in the middle reaches of the Han River, with Suizhou County and Zaoyang City in the east, Nanzhang County in the west, Zhongxiang City in Jingmen City in the south, and Xiangzhou District and Xiangcheng District in the north. Yicheng covers an area of 2,115 square kilometers and has a pattern of three mountains, one water and six fields. It has 11 towns (offices), one provincial-level economic development zone and one Xiangyang municipal-level fine chemical park, and 224 villages (communities). According to the seventh census, as of November 1, 2020, Yicheng City had a resident population of 469,417.
Yicheng, or Yicheng for short, is a national grain-producing county (city), an advanced city in basic education, an advanced city in culture, a model city in science and technology, an advanced city in civil affairs, and a sanitary city, a civilized city, a model city in double support and a safe county (city) in Hubei Province. In 2006, 2007 and 2008, it hosted the International Triathlon for three consecutive years.

Xiangyang in Hubei Province has a strong presence in history. It is a beautiful scenery in Tang poetry and a battleground for ancient chivalry. There are endless elements of the Three Kingdoms here and endless delicacies to taste. In the morning, there is a bowl of Xiangyang beef noodles poured with red oil, paired with a bowl of rich rice wine. In the evening, there is a pot of fragrant beef offal on the street, and there are also authentic local dishes on the street that are not to be missed. The stir-fried chicken in the old factory area of Nanzhang must be stir-fried until crispy, and the lard cake must be freshly baked. It is delicious here.
