Aerial China:Zhenyuan Ancient City, Qiandongnan, Guizhou貴州黔東南鎮遠古城
Zhenyuan Ancient Town is a town under the jurisdiction of Zhenyuan County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province. It is located on the Wuyang River and surrounded by mountains. The river winds through the city in the shape of an S, with the old palace city on the north bank and the old acropolis on the south bank, which resembles a Tai Chi picture from a distance. The two cities were both built in the Ming Dynasty, and some of the city walls and gates still exist. There are a lot of ancient buildings, traditional houses, and historical wharfs inside and outside the city. The ancient town of Zhenyuan enjoys an advantageous location with convenient transportation. The Xiangqian Railway, Zhuzhou-Liuzhou Railway, National Highway 320, and Shanghai-Kunming Expressway pass through the border. It is 90 kilometers, 170 kilometers and 270 kilometers away from Tongren Airport, Hunan Zhijiang Airport and Guiyang Airport, respectively. The county borders Xinhuang in Hunan in the east, Sansui and Jianhe in the south, Shibing in the west, and Shiqian in Cengong and Tongren in the north. Zhenyuan has a long history. It has a history of nearly 2,300 years since the establishment of a county in the 30th year of King Qin Zhao (277 BC). It has been the seat of Taoism and mansion for more than 700 years in the Yuan and Qing dynasties.
On January 7, 2020, it was designated as a national 5A tourist attraction by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Zhenyuan Water Town, Guizhou #shorts AKA Breakup town where many couples broke up during the visit.
Located on eastern part of Guizhou Province, Zhenyuan has long been an ancient town of the Miao people. Time-honored history endows Zhenyuan Ancient Town with many rich and generous cultural relics, making it much like a historic garden. The town covers only an area of 3.1 square kilometers (about 1.2 square miles) but greets you with more than 160 scenic spots including caves, palaces, pavilions, temples and rivers with their unique architecture, exquisite engravings and marvelous natural landscape. Among them are the famous Wuyang River Scenic Area and elegant ancient complex in the the Black Dragon Cave (Qinglong Cave) - beckoning sights not to be missed by any visitor to eastern Guizhou.
Zhenyuan Ancient Town is a famous “Mountain Cliff Architectures Museum” in China. Ancient lanes and paths wind in the city, stone bridges and city walls strewn at random, plus emerald river and multifarious mist surrounding the city, making visitors can’t help but think of the scenery in the poem.
Besides the accomplishment in architecture, Zhenyuan Ancient Town is a diversified fusion of the Han, the Dong and more than 20 ethnic minorities. The integration of Central Plain Culture, Jing-Chu Culture, Ba-Shu Culture, Wu-Yue Culture, Min-Yue Culture, Indigenous Culture and more other cultures has made Zhenyuan a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-social museum, praised by experts as the World Cultural Protection Circle.
The ornamental value and the scientific value in Zhenyuan Ancient Town are both high. There is not only a famous and magnificent Qinglong Cave Architecture complex, but also more than 160 ancient folk houses, lanes, wharfs from the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty with their old looks unchanged.
Zhenyuan Ancient Town is a traditional culture maze which is completely integrated by places of interest and historical sites. Architectural style there are blue bricks tiles with high fire walls, angled cornices with carved beams and painted rafters. Every piece of blue slate and brick records the historical relics and tells the vicissitudes of the ancient town for thousands of years. There are military fortresses such as temple of war, city wall, beacon tower, fort totten, etc. in the ancient city wall.
