Los Caballeros is another beautiful course located just outside of town with a beautiful desert backdrop and plenty of lovely greens. The restaurants downtown and sure to please the palate of most foodies. Cafe’s line the streets boasting delicious greasy spoon offerings like biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak. Charley's steakhouse tempts you with a bright neon sign beckoning you to try their tasty offerings. There are several Mexican restaurants persening their take on southwest tex mex style food. Arizona Drive through the neighborhoods in the town of Wickenburg
My wonderful wife Thao wanted to see what the surrounding neighborhoods look like in Wickenburg, so we drove around a bit. Wickenburg is a small historic town with a rich culture. Beautiful town with a great community around it. It’s right off the highway, but still has a very remote feel to it. Yet there are fast food restaurants, a nice grocery store, and within 30 minutes of a Costco. What a great place to live…

Arizona Drive to Wickenburg A small Historic town just north of Phoenix
Wickenburg Arizona. If you are an outdoorsman, this is a great place to be. Deserts, Canyons, Arroyos, trails for miles and miles for camping, exploring, hunting, fishing and off-roading. The numbers of campers and trailers with toy haulers were incredible throughout Wickenburg. The temperature in Wickenburg is usually at least 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix, so it is a fantastic place to go during the summer heat. It’s a great “Last Stop” for picking up supplies before going off road for the weekend.

US 93 North - Future I-11, Joshua Tree Forest Pkwy - Wickenburg to Mile Post 165

US 93 in Arizona has quite a varied history. Originally adopted in 1927, the road was extended thru Arizona to Kingman at US 66 in 1938. This is the current route today along Beale St on the west side of Kingman. In 1946, Arizona extended the Route 93 number from Kingman to the border crossing at Nogales. This made the 93 a Canada to Mexico route, as US 93 was also extended to the crossing in Roosville, MT. The catch, however, was the portion from the end at Beale St in Kingman to Nogales was a State Route, not a US Highway. This is something that Arizona was well known for at the time: extending the number of a US Highway further south then it was certified for by making it a state route. In 1965, the portion from Kingman to Cordes Junction, where SR 93 met then-US 89 (now SR 89), was certified as a US Highway and the US 93 designation was extended. SR 93 continued from there along with US 89 to Wickenburg, where it met US 60 and 70 and continued to Phoenix. In the late 1960's the portion of I-40 from Andy Devine Ave in Kingman to US 93 east of Kingman opened and replaced the old 2 lane US 93. This was most likely signed as US 93 only at the time, and US 66 was Temp I-40, due to the segment ending 'in space' at US 93 with no connection to the remainder of the Interstate in Seligman. US 93's alignment was changed a little (moved west) to accommodate for a connection to the Interstate.
In 1992, with most of the Interstate system complete, and US 89 being redundant from Cordes Jct to Nogales, it was truncated to Flagstaff, with the portion from Flagstaff to Cordes Jct becoming SE 89, and the portion from Cordes Jct to Wickenburg was transferred to US 93. Because most of SR 93 at the point was replaced by I-10 and I-19, it was completely decommissioned.
Now-a-days, US 93 is the only connection for the ever-growing Phoenix population to connect to Las Vegas. Because of this, as well as other trade reasons, a new Interstate is being considered: I-11. This would replace all of US 93 from Las Vegas to Wickenburg, and most likely US 60 to Phoenix. This is why a lot of US 93 has been upgraded over the last 20 years to a four-lane expressway: to accommodate an Interstate.
Thanks for watching!
