[WI State Parks] Hartman Creek State Park
A gem of the state of Wisconsin is the State Park system. There are lands all around the state set aside for everyone to enjoy and keep a little wild. These parks show off the natural wonder of the local area, and help educate people of the history surrounding the area as well.
This episode features the quiet and contemplative, Hartman Creek State Park just south of Waupaca, Wisconsin. While other parks in Northeast Wisconsin feature the Niagara Escarpment, this park features the land flattened by glaciers, and the lakes left behind after they retreated.
The park features a little history with the Hellestad House - the home of Norwegian immigrants that was originally built in 1864 about 12 miles north of its current location.
With numerous trails to hike, bike, or horseride - a lovely beach - seven lakes to canoe or kayak - and a well maintained Singletrack trail system, Hartman Creek State Park has a little something for everyone.
