Op zaterdag (16 april 2022) was er een lezing + wandeling met architectuurhistoricus Marinke Steenhuis.
Opnamen zijn gemaakt tijdens de wandeling door Vreewijk.
Vreewijk: een groene wijk van honderd jaar oud. Het tuindorp Vreewijk is een beschermd stadsgezicht. Geschiedenis. In 1913 werd de NV Eerste Rotterdamse Tuindorp opgericht door K.P. van der Mandele, J. Mees en L.J.C.J. van Ravesteyn. Het stratenplan van de wijk is gebaseerd op het oorspronkelijke sloten- en greppelpatroon van de voormalige polder. In 1919 werden de eerste woningen opgeleverd. Het laatste deel, ten oosten van de Dordtsestraatweg, (De Vaan) werd tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog opgeleverd.

ROTTERDAM 2022 🇳🇱 4K Drone | City of the Biggest Song Contest in the World
The Netherlands won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 from 41 participating European Countries (and Australia) with the song Arcade by Duncan Laurence. After winning the biggest song contest of the world the Netherlands could organize the event for 2020. The city of Rotterdam, in particular the spectacular site of Ahoy was chosen to host the Eurovision 2020. However, due to the outbreak of the Corona virus in 2020 the event was cancelled.
In 2021 there was a new attempt to organize the song contest for thousands of fans. As the Covid-19 pandemic was ongoing and Ahoy was still in a lockdown - and used as a XL Corona Test Site by the Public Health Department of Rotterdam - the event will be broadcasted online. It was not possible to host thousands of guests in Ahoy.

Rotterdam (/ˈrɒtərdæm/ or /ˌrɒtərˈdæm/;[8][9] Dutch: [ˌrɔtərˈdɑm] ( listen)) is a city in the Netherlands, located in South Holland, within the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt river delta at the North Sea. Its history goes back to 1270 when a dam was constructed in the Rotte river by people settled around it for safety. In 1340 Rotterdam was granted city rights by the Count of Holland[10] and slowly grew into a major logistic and economic centre. Nowadays it is home to Europe's largest port and has a population of 633,471 (2014, city proper), ranking second in the Netherlands. The Greater Rijnmond area is home to approximately 1.4 million people[11] and the Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Area makes for the 168th most populous urban area in the world. Rotterdam is part of the yet larger Randstad conurbation with a total population of 7,100,000.
The city of Rotterdam is known for the Erasmus University, riverside setting, lively cultural life and its maritime heritage. The near-complete destruction of Rotterdam's city centre during World War II (known as the Rotterdam Blitz) has resulted in a varied architectural landscape including sky-scrapers, which are an uncommon sight in other Dutch cities. Rotterdam is home to some world-famous architecture from renowned architects like Rem Koolhaas, Piet Blom, Ben van Berkel and others. Recently Rotterdam was listed eighth in The Rough Guide Top 10 Cities to Visit[12] and fifth in Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2016 and was voted 2015 European City of the Year by the Academy of Urbanism.[13]
The port of Rotterdam is the largest cargo port in Europe and the 10th largest in the world. Rotterdam's logistic success is based on its strategic location on the North Sea, directly at the mouth of the Nieuwe Maas (New Meuse) channel leading into the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta. The rivers Rhine, Meuse, and Scheldt give waterway access into the heart of Western Europe, including the highly industrialized Ruhr region. The extensive distribution system including rail, roads and waterways have earned Rotterdam the nickname Gateway to Europe, and, conversely; Gateway to the World in Europe.
WALKING in a DUTCH CITY: Rhenen (4K Ultra HD)
Let's take a walk in the dutch city of Rhenen, located in the province of Utrecht and situated on the southern part of the chain of hills known as the Utrecht Hill Ridge (Utrechtse Heuvelrug) and the river Nederrijn. Rhenen city center dates back from medieval times (Rhenen received city rights in the 13th century) The most famous medieval building is the Cunera church with its 81 metres high 15th century church tower.

Aerial footage of the Rotterdam industrial area the Botlek near the village of Zwartewaal recorded by DJI Phantom 4. I used ND filters in some of the shots. Most of the this video has not been color graded, enhanced or digitally stabilized. The light really was this orange and the Phantom 4 really does fly this stable.

Lake Oostvoorne (2024 or Oostvoornse Meer) is a wetland in the province of South Holland, The Netherlands. It is located on the island of Voorne close to Oostvoorne. Oostvoorne is a touristic coastal village to the south of Rotterdam, Brielle and Hellevoetsluis. Next to the lake there is also a sandy beach, Oostvoorne Strand. Oostvoorne has a population of 8,100 permanent residents. However, during the summer months thousands more are staying in the campings, hotels and airbnb's of the village.
