Loveliest CASTLE you've NEVER heard of? Château de Vizille in Spring
My second VLOG
From the gardens of the Château de Vizille on a beautiful day in April.
Again, on my Sony a7 with the Røde mic for the birdsong (makes a big difference). No stabilising (obviously) - ski pole, camera strap, plank of wood with pillow case. Trying to consider movement in shots a little more. Decided not to put myself in the shots this time, for time purposes and to concentrate on framing. Slightly better music sourced (though still not perfect). Concerns: individual clips just too short whilst overall video too long?
(Probably 2 hours to film and the same to edit)
The next stage is learning about frame rate...
Thanks for watching
Camping L'Imprevu & Vizille (south of Grenoble)
One of our last nights on the road before revisiting Pepe, our bus. Camping L'Imprevu is a perfectly serviceable (all-year) campsite. Not much in the way of green lawn, but high hedges for privacy and wind protection, and hills all around.
The Grenoble region is just fantastic to drive through. Dramatic snow-covered mountains form perfect backdrops for the forested valley. We opted for the route via Gap, going south. First time for us, and it opens into even more amazing vistas. Also the Route Napoleon btw.
So, we went through Vizille as well, which is a rather picturesque village that happens to have the Museum of the French Revolution. Perhaps worth a visit in future.
Thanks for watching!

Chateau and Parc Vizille is a historic estate located in the commune of Vizille, in the department of Isere, France. The estate consists of a chateau, which was built in the 17th century, and a large park, which was designed in the 18th century.
The chateau was originally built by Francois de Bonne, Duke of Lesdiguieres, who was one of the most powerful nobles in France during the reign of King Henry IV. The chateau was later purchased by Claude Perier, a wealthy banker and politician, in the late 18th century. Perier added a number of embellishments to the chateau, including a grand salon and a magnificent staircase.
The Parc Vizille, which surrounds the chateau, was designed in the 18th century by the landscape architect Antoine de Reiset. The park covers over 100 hectares and features a number of formal gardens, fountains, and ponds. One of the most impressive features of the park is the Grand Canal, which is over 600 meters long and was used for boating and skating during the winter months.
In the 19th century, the chateau and park became a popular destination for artists and writers, including Stendhal and Victor Hugo. The estate was also the site of several important historical events, including the signing of the Treaty of Grenoble in 1802, which ended the War of the Second Coalition between France and Austria.
Today, the Chateau and Parc Vizille is open to the public and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region. Visitors can explore the chateau and its many rooms, including the grand salon, the chapel, and the former bedrooms of Claude Perier and his family. The park is also open to visitors, who can wander through the formal gardens, enjoy a picnic by the Grand Canal, or take a leisurely stroll through the woods.

Grenoble | Walking tour around the Isere River
Beginning in Nimes and start my day by walking through another old Roman archway, the Porte de France. Then, a short walk down to the bus park, where I take the Flixbus to Grenoble, which is in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France, just north of the Provence region for a walking tour or city tour of Grenoble.
On arriving, I cross the bridge over the Isere river, a busy one used by the Grenoble Trams, and to Grenoble's war memorial called the porte de france. This is an impressive archway, built in 1620, as well as being a war memorial. Next to the porte de france is the Jardine des dauphine, where I discovered a statue to Philis de La Charce, who in 1692, led a peasant army to help protect an attack on Grenoble, defeating the invading army. I walk through the Jardine des dauphine and up to the viewing area and the views over the city of Grenoble.
I walk a little further down the isere river, where I find a statue to Xavier Jouvin, a master glove maker, one of Grenoble's famous residents. I cross the river and walk up the other side, and past the Grenoble-Bastille cable car, which will feature in a later video. I end the video near the bridge where I began my walk earlier.
Flixbus: There is a link at the end of this video to my coach trip on Flixbus, from Marseille to Nimes and the shocking footage of the coach driver using his mobile phone whilst driving. This action goes against French law and also endangers the passengers also. As a professional coach driver/trainer/instructor myself I was appalled by this.
