🇬🇧 A quick but not comprehensive look at Calheta in Santiago Island of Cape Verde. More precisely, Calheta de São Miguel is a city located in the northern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. In 2010 its population was 3,175. It lies on the east coast, 31 km (19 miles) north of the capital Praia. It is the seat of the municipality of São Miguel.
Calheta de São Miguel forms an urban agglomeration with the adjacent settlements Venice and Ponta Verde, total population 5,615 in 2010.

Brava (Portuguese for wild or brave) is an island in Cape Verde, in the Sotavento group. At 62.5 km2 (24.1 sq mi), it is the smallest inhabited island of the Cape Verde archipelago, but at the same time the greenest. First settled in the early 16th century, its population grew after Mount Fogo on neighbouring Fogo erupted in 1680. For more than a century, its main industry was whaling, but the island economy is now primarily agricultural.
Brava was discovered in 1462 by the Portuguese explorer Diogo Afonso. There is no evidence of human presence on the Cape Verde islands before the arrival of the Portuguese. Around 1620 the population of Brava started with the arrival of settlers from Madeira and the Azores.

Brava is the smallest inhabited island in Cape Verde. It's also the greenest. It's mountainous and there are lots of walking opportunities. This video is of walking to the highest point and also of the most popular walk to the fishing village of Faja d'Agua.

In our structure are proposed Cape Verdean dishes revisited and enriched: we do not use frozen, canned or preservatives but with only fresh ingredients from organic and locally produced (depending on availability ').Our fish is delivered fresh every day (when you and 'the need') directly from our fishermen of trust as an intermediary to avoid the street vendors selling fish on the streets of Brava in unsuitable containers with a real health risk of those who buy it due to the rapid deterioration of the product due to the warm climate of the island.Our flesh, however, comes from a cooperative that controls Fogo, slaughter and certifies their breeding with criteria similar to those used abroad.Our wine cellar and 'provided to 90% of wines, brandies and derivatives of sugar cane produced and packed by the WINE GROWERS ASSOCIATION of Achada LARGE (FOGO) and that' was supported by the Italian NGO Cospe in Florence.We also have a wide assortment of jams made with the use of fruit typical Cape Verdean.Also briefly coeliacs and vegetarians will be satisfied with dishes specifically designed for their needs.NBI criteria used for preserving foods are those given dall'HCCP Italian strangers and completely ignored the territory.
