Vermilion, Ohio Waterfront - A Small City on a Great Lake [4K]
A whimsical view of the Vermilion, Ohio Waterfront area.
Vermilion, Ohio is the crowning jewel of the south shore of Lake Erie. This enchanting little town has always been a sea side community with New England style atmosphere. Vermilion is situated along the Southern shore of Lake Erie and embraces the Vermilion River. Vermilion was once known as the “Village of Lake Captains,” and no other place in Ohio has so many beautifully maintained captains’ homes in its historic district.
The Vermilion River, which flows into Lake Erie, endows marina facilities with more than 1,000 boat slips and ramps for easy access to the Lake, earning Vermilion the title of the “Largest Small Boat Harbour on the Great Lakes.”
The prior days to recording this footage it had been raining. The waters that flow into the Vermilion River had become muddied with the red clay of the land. This discolored the water and explains the look you see here.
Vermilion was named by Native Americans for the red clay along the river banks.

Situated in the center of the resort on the north shoreline, Hummingbird is a spacious 3-story, 4 bedroom log cabin. Set back from the lakeside walking path, this is our most private 4 bedroom cabin. It features a spacious floor plan, its own sauna and a fire pit area. With the space for multigenerational families and proximity to the resort's fishing amenities like bait, gas, the fish cleaning house and docks, this is a much loved Lake Vermilion cabin.

6/25-6/26/20. Site 409
This was our first trip to Lake Vermillion-Soudan and we spent one night here. You can get wood as you enter, it’s in a little shed to pick your own and $6 a bundle. Our site was spacious and grassy, though we could see our neighbors, so it wasn’t the most private. We drove around all campground loops and decided we liked our section best. It had a lot of trees (and hammock spots), but also a lot of RVs. Some of the other loops were more open and had less trees. The campground was very quiet and the cell service was top rate. If you are looking for a state park campground to work remotely, this would be a great choice.
The mine was closed when we visited but it was still fun to explore from the outside. We hiked the hiking club trail loop - which was actually confusing to follow - but it was fun to see some remnants of the old mines and the trail was wooded and pretty. There was also still snow in one of the deep pits. The picnic area was gorgeous with a lot of trees and there was a large fishing dock. There is also a nice boat launch to a quiet bay that brings you right into Lake Vermillion. It was windy so we did not kayak. The state park is kept up and maintained very nicely. We enjoyed our visit.

In this 5K ULTRA HD drive tour video, I will be presenting my 5K Drive Lapse of Let's Drive North on US 89A along the Vermillion Cliffs to Jacob Lake Arizona in 5K ULTRA HD. This video starts in Bitter Springs Arizona as we drive towards the Vermillion Cliffs towards Marble Canyon. After crossing the Colorado River on the Navajo Bridge we will drive along the Vermillion Cliffs until we reach the Kaibab Plateau. We will drive up the plateau as night settles on our day 5 and your part of it will end in Jacob Lake Arizona.
Please note: The time is wrong until we cross the Colorado River and leave the Navajo Nation. The Nation observes daylight savings while the state of Arizona doesn't.

Vermilion Point is a remote, undeveloped shore in Chippewa County, Michigan, United States. Located 9.75 miles (15.69 km) west of Whitefish Point, Michigan, this historic spot lies on a stretch of Lake Superior’s southeast coast known as the Graveyard of the Great Lakes or the Shipwreck Coast. The servicemen of Vermilion Lifesaving Station performed daring rescues of shipwrecks from 1877 until 1944 when it was closed after modern navigational technology made this service obsolete.
