Life in the Coldest place on earth, the region of Yakutia (Republic of Sakha), Siberia, Russia, & the Worlds coldest city, Yakutsk. We traveled to Yakutsk in the middle of winter to find out how people here survive in the toughest climate in the world. Little did we know, we would manage to time it so perfect that we would actually arrive during the coldest day in the last 20 years (-63'C / '81.5'F).
The lowest air temperature ever recorded in this region is -96°F (-71°C). The coldest town is Oymyakon, which is also in Yakutia, Siberia.
Life up here in the coldest city and region on planet earth is tough, and winter is long, however, people have lived here for centuries. The Yakut (Sakha) people have called this region home for generations and their unique culture & attitude to life has helped them thrive here in cold tundra of Yakutia, Siberia.

In this video we'll show you a Unique Place in Budapest tourist guides often overlook: Tte Pozsonyi út, which is a hidden gem filled with restaurants, brunch places, cafes and shops!
When in Hungary, Budapest, The Margaret Boulevard is full of interesting sights you can enjoy as you make your way from one nice place to another while exploring the capitol. You may have been to Margaret Island or looked at the gorgeous looking Vígszínház theater, but you may have missed a little street right next to Margaret Bridge: The Pozsonyi út!
This street has many restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. If you want traditional Hungarian cuisine, want to explore how the local asian restaurants are, get hungry for spanish tapas, or want to try some italian, you'll surely find something that wont dissapoint.
The are also has many small artisan shops for baked goods, pizza slices, or sweet desserts.
There are also many cafes which focus on delivering a cozy experience along with some specialty coffee, so if you also enjoy coffee for its flavor, make sure to visit them! You can also buy some excellent coffee beans!
What's also really cool about the Pozsonyi street is that most places are pet friendly, there are even dedicated spaces on the street in case your little one needs to go!
It's impossible to call out all the places, even we didn't have the ability to visit every single establishment. We wish that this video inspires you to visit the area and explore it for yourself!

With my time in Kyiv, Ukraine coming to a close, I decided to explore more of the city, including its street food scene! Join me as I show you the Ukrainian street food you must try in Kyiv, Ukraine!
My guide Margarita from Tours by Locals and I started our final adventure together at the Motherland Monument, one of the most epic landmarks in all of Kyiv.
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH:
It was built back during the Soviet era. To get there you have to pass under the Bridge of Fame. Underneath in a representation of Soviet pride and courage, with lots of statues and carvings of soldiers and civilians.
On the other side of the tunnel beneath the bridge is the monument itself, which is made of stainless steel and downright massive! It’s one of the most stable statues in the world and has an observation deck at the very top, but it was closed when I visited due to the lockdown.
In front of it are three tanks and a small park featuring the Ukrainian flag. There’s a mini-museum with tanks, planes, amphibious “ducks”, cannons, and other vehicles used in World War II and other wars.
Then, we came across a group of women in traditional dress who sang us a song in the middle of the street! They’re a band of singers, and the oldest is 86 years old!
Next, we hopped in the car and drove back through the city on our way to find a Kyiv Hot Dog at Kyivska Perepichka. It’s like a hot dog inside some golden fried bread. It looks like a corn dog. It cost 25 hryvnia, or just under $1 and is super oily!
I decided to eat it on the street. It looks like a pastel or an empanada! The fried dough is really nice and the hot dog is super tasty.
We asked for some mustard because I always need mustard with my hot dogs. The mustard was spicy and super tasty! It was really filling, too.
Next, we headed to the biggest brewery in Ukraine, Varvar. Along the way, I got a Ukraine soccer jersey. It’s located along the left bank of the Dnieper River. It took a long time to get there because there was lots of traffic.
We drove past lots of Soviet-style buildings containing typical project-style housing from that era. Then, we arrived at the brewery!
There, Sasha, one of the brewers, took us inside. We put on some protective gear to see their two-barrel system. They produce 7-8 tons of beer per day and make dozens of beers!
They get their own water from underground. Further on are the fermentation tanks. Then, we saw the distribution, canning, bottling system, storage area, and refrigerator!
Next, it was time to try some beef from a fermentation tank! Their Blanche Witbier was light and creamy, while their dry stout was dark and chocolatey but not too heavy. Their Imperial Stout was very strong and 11% alcohol. I loved it!
Next door is their bar, Lisopylka House Craft Beer. It’s an amazing, outdoor bar with a fire pit and a covered section. There, I had an Oriental Ale, a Double IPA, and a Strong Ale, along with some pork ribs and fries.
The Oriental Ale was very unique and floral, while the Double IPA was thick and not very hoppy. The Strong Ale was very strong.
We also had some chicken wings. The ribs were so tender, fatty, and smoky with sweet caramelized onions on top. They’re some of my favorite pork ribs ever!
The chicken wings had a sweet and spicy sauce on them. This was basically elevated bar food and was delicious!

Auschwitz, Polish Oświęcim, also called Auschwitz-Birkenau, Nazi Germany’s largest concentration camp and extermination camp. Located near the industrial town of Oświęcim in southern Poland (in a portion of the country that was annexed by Germany at the beginning of World War II), Auschwitz was actually three camps in one: a prison camp, an extermination camp, and a slave-labour camp. As the most lethal of the Nazi extermination camps, Auschwitz has become the emblematic site of the “final solution,” a virtual synonym for the Holocaust. Between 1.1 and 1.5 million people died at Auschwitz; 90 percent of them were Jews. Also among the dead were some 19,000 Roma who were held at the camp until the Nazis gassed them on July 31, 1944—the only other victim group gassed in family units alongside the Jews. The Poles constituted the second largest victim group at Auschwitz, where some 83,000 were killed or died.
Auschwitz I
Auschwitz was probably chosen to play a central role in the “final solution” because it was located at a railway junction with 44 parallel tracks—rail lines that were used to transport Jews from throughout Europe to their death. Heinrich Himmler, chief of the SS, the Nazi paramilitary corps, ordered the establishment of the first camp, the prison camp, on April 27, 1940, and the first transport of Polish political prisoners arrived on June 14. This small camp, Auschwitz I, was reserved throughout its history for political prisoners, mainly Poles and Germans.

In October 1941, work began on Auschwitz II, or Birkenau, located outside the nearby village of Brzezinka. There the SS later developed a huge concentration camp and extermination complex that included some 300 prison barracks; four large so-called Badeanstalten (German: “bathhouses”), in which prisoners were gassed to death; Leichenkeller (“corpse cellars”), in which their bodies were stored; and Einäscherungsöfen (“cremating ovens”). Another camp (Buna-Monowitz), near the village of Dwory, later called Auschwitz III, became in May 1942 a slave-labour camp supplying workers for the nearby chemical and synthetic-rubber works of IG Farben. In addition, Auschwitz became the nexus of a complex of 45 smaller subcamps in the region, most of which housed slave labourers. During most of the period from 1940 to 1945, the commandant of the central Auschwitz camps was SS-Hauptsturmführer (Capt.) and ultimately SS-Obersturmbannführer (Lieut. Col.) Rudolf Franz Höss (Hoess).
The death camp and slave-labour camp were interrelated. Newly arrived prisoners at the death camp were divided in a process known as Selektion. The young and the able-bodied were sent to work. Young children and their mothers and the old and infirm were sent directly to the gas chambers. Thousands of prisoners were also selected by the camp doctor, Josef Mengele, for medical experiments. Auschwitz doctors tested methods of sterilization on the prisoners, using massive doses of radiation, uterine injections, and other barbaric procedures. Experiments involving the killing of twins, upon whom autopsies were performed, were meant to provide information that would supposedly lead to the rapid expansion of the “Aryan race.”

【美術館散歩】ルーブル美術館 戦火を逃れたウクライナの美術品がルーブルへ！

ロシアによる攻撃が続くウクライナ。戦争時には、美術作品は破壊され、不当に押収され、違法取引されてしまう。そうでなくても、発電所が破壊されれば、適切な温度と湿度で作品を管理すること自体が不可能になってしまう。
破壊から逃れるため、ウクライナの首都キエフにあるボフダン・バーバラ・ハネンコ記念美術館の16点の美術作品が、秘密裏にルーブル美術館に移された。現在、そのうちの5点が『聖なるイメージの源泉へ』という特別展にてルーブル美術館で公開されている。その中には、6世紀から7世紀に描かれた宗教画「イコン」が含まれており、ビザンティン美術の源泉となった作品群を鑑賞することができる。
特別展は、ドノン翼 173展示室にて、11月6日まで開催されている。
