Tuscania, Italy 🇮🇹 Walking tour 4K | Discover a Charming Italian Gem

📍Tuscania, Italy 🇮🇹
Tuscania is a picturesque village, an area that today coincides with the province of Viterbo (Lazio, central Italy).
Tuscania, like many other towns in the Viterbo area, stands on top of a promontory of tuff rock.
The buildings in the historic center of Tuscania have that brownish-reddish color typical of the tuff rock that is everywhere in the area.
The town is best appreciated walking around its alleys, with picturesque views opening up on its squares, churches and fountains, and the landscape that surrounds it.
Hope you enjoy the 4K quality of this video, don't forget to Like and Subscribe! THANKS

TUSCANIA - a magical moment on a stroll through this medieval town

Please Subscribe to our YouTube Travel Channel and help us create more Italy travel videos for you. Grazie! - Mesmerizing Medieval village view as the bells toll from a nearby church bell tower - the mystical simplicity of Tuscania ❤

Imagine you are strolling through the characterful narrow streets of Tuscania - the resplendent Medieval town in the Italian countryside near Rome - when you arrive HERE.

The archway of the Medieval building perfectly frames the evocative ruins of the Rivelino Castle and the 10th century Romanesque Basilica of Saint Peter atop the ancient acropolis where views of the majestic surrounding valleys were also seen by the ancients who settled on that hill for nearly 3,000 years. And then, MAGIC HAPPENS.

Listen.....

Church bells from a nearby centuries' old church begin to chime, reminiscent of bygone eras, bringing you to the times these walls, castles, and churches were built a millennium ago. If you let your imagination wonder a bit, you can almost feel as though you've been transported back in time.
Look up... (as we did at the end of this short video), and see the tall towers that still dot the town.

Such unexpected and pleasant surprises happen on our tours.

NEW Day Tours from Rome for the upcoming 2022 season are being crafted that will take you to magical places such as these in the magnificent Italian countryside where you will discover the soul of Italy.

**Some History**
𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝, 𝐓𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐬' 𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐀𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐬 (𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐓𝐮𝐬-𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚, 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐠). Another legend attributes the foundation to one Tusco, son of Hercules and Araxes.
Evidence of human presence in the area dates from the Neolithic age, but probably the city proper was founded in the 7th century BC when the acropolis on St. Peter's Hill was surrounded by a line of walls. In the 5th century AD (or earlier, depending on the source), Tuscania became one of the first bishopric sees in Italy.

There is no record of Tuscania being involved in the battles that led to the Roman conquest of the Etruscan northern Lazio (280 BC), as the city probably entered into the Roman orbit peacefully. The agricultural development and construction of the Via Clodia further boosted the economic situation of the city. It became a municipium in 88 BCE.

In the 5th century AD (or earlier, depending on the source), Tuscania became one of the first bishopric sees in Italy.

After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, it fell to the Lombards in 569 or 574. In 781 it became part of the Papal States. In 967–1066 it was a fief of the Anguillara family and then of the marquises of Tuscany. In 1081 it was besieged by Emperor Henry IV.

[Tuscania 2023] Italy 4K Walking Tour

Tuscania: This 4K walking tour video is filmed in Jan 2023. The temperature of that day is 8°C. Below you may find the story of this place. Hope you will enjoy the video!
The village of Tuscania (VT), one of the most evocative of Lazio, rises between the course of the Marta river and that of the Capecchio stream. The first settlement in the area is located on the hill of San Pietro and dates from the Villanovan age. In Etruscan and then Roman age Tuscania was a rather rich and flourishing center, maintaining its strategic importance on the territory unchanged, at least until the 5th century AD. when, with the barbarian invasions, it was almost completely abandoned.
Between the sixth and seventh centuries the village was subject to Lombard domination, which ended in 774 A.D. with the entry into the patrimony of the Church. From the sixth century and up to the 12th Tuscania was also a bishopric. During the
Middle Ages, however, the center was a fief of various families and was often devastated by bloody internal struggles until its full recovery in the possessions of the Church, which took place in 1443.
The splendid churches of San Pietro and Santa Maria Maggiore, among the highest examples of Italian Romanesque, and the Tor Lavello Park are absolutely worth a visit.

Vacation Travel Guide,Italy.Lake Bolsena,Montefiascone,Viterbo Medieval castle Between Tuscany &Rome

A walking tour and vacation travel guide of Lake Bolsena from Montefiascone, Viterbo, Italy and the Medieval castle on the lake Between Tuscany and Rome. This lake is the biggest volcanic lake in Europe and is found in Lazio region, central Italy specifically in viterbo province. This video shows you one of the beautiful place, where you should go when you visit central Italy.

The city of Montefiascone is located on the southern shore of Lake Bolsena, formed over 300,000 years ago following the calderic collapse of some volcanoes belonging to the Volsini mountain chain. It's territory is all included between the shores of the lake, and the hills that made up the edge of the ancient volcanic cone. Its a very beautiful place and i would definitely recommend that you visit if you get a chance. Enjoy!!!!;)
