Agas-Agas Bridge in Southern Leyte // The TALLEST Bridge in the Philippines
The Agas-Agas Bridge is a prestressed concrete beam bridge on the Pan-Philippine Highway. The ₱1.024-billion bridge was funded partially by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. With a length of about 350 meters (1,150 feet) and a height of 292 feet (89 meters) above ground,[2] the center span of the structure measures 177 meters (581 feet) in length supported by two piers measuring 241 foot (73 meters) and 246 foot (75 meters) from the ground.[3]
The mountainous Agas-Agas section of the Pan-Philippine Highway in Southern Leyte is prone to landslides during heavy rains, much more when a typhoon strikes the province. The bridge was constructed in 2006 to avoid the troublesome section and cut down the driving time for motorists.[4]
Seeing its high tourism potential the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) submitted to President Gloria Arroyo the plan to turn the bridge into a haven for enthusiasts of bungee jumping, paramotor, downhill skateboarding, zip-line, rappelling and other extreme sports. On August 9, 2009, the president signed the construction of the bungee jumping platform along the bridge as well as other tourism amenities.

Explore Ph: Labo, Camarines Norte
I have been visited different cities, hike different mountains but haven’t tried to do it on my own origin province. I stayed in Labo, Camarines norte for almost 2 weeks and saw a lot of adventure trail. I was surprised by how it was being open to the public as a tourist spot. Never imagine that within our own province, we can do a lot of things already.
One of the hiking spots that we access is the Mt. Bagacay, located in Brgy. Fundado Labo, Camarines Norte. In this mountain, you can actually experience the hiking, cave trail, rock climbing and swim into the mini falls at the lower level of the mountain. Though, Tan-awang bato is not yet the highest peak of the mountain, it will definitely offer a breathtaking view of the entire barangay at the top of the giant rock.
But before you can reach the top of the stone, you will need to go through mini obstacles like passing through the bottom of the cave using a large vine that serves as your handlebar by which will be loved by all the adventure seekers.
No worries for those who were not really into extreme adventure, let me give you a good news🤣. If I would grade it, it has an average difficulty level, the humidity level is fair, mud is present if you would hike its raining, rock climbing is average,
Obviously, the best time to hike this mountain is during summer also between January to may except for rainy season
How to go to this location?
Three options:
Via private vehicle:
Drive from your location to Labo, Camarines norte for roughly 6-8hrs. Right after the Labo Grand terminal there is a diversion road between Kalamunding and National Highway. Take the Brgy. Kalamunding road and just straight ahead until you pass by the large rice fields right before the Fundado Brgy. Hall
Via bus (recommended for commuters)
From Manila take a bus heading to Daet or Labo in Cubao bus terminal. Bus companies like Superlines, DLTBCO and Philtranco are the major bus companies that offer a trip for almost 8-10hrs. Drop off at Labo Grand terminal and take a tricycle ride to ask them to bring you to Fundado Brgy. Hall.
Via Plane:
From Naia or Clark, take plane heading to Naga or Legaspi, drop off at the Naga/ Legaspi airport, travel time is roughly 30-45mins. Then take a 4-6hrs. UV Express or jeepney ride heading to Daet. Drop off at the Daet-Labo terminal and ride a Jeep or Van heading to Labo Grand terminal which has a travel time of roughly 45mins. to an hour and take another tricycle ride heading to Fundado Brgy. Hall.

LABO BRIDGE 2 TULAY NA IPANGAKO
LABO BRIDGE 2 SEMI ABANDONED MULTI-MILLION PROJECT..
Project Started 2012
Date of Completion -2018 onwards..
Maybe 2055
2017 PROBE:
Based on records from the DPWH District Engineer’s Office here, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released a total of P228,272,989.00, for the three phases of the said bridge.
Phase 1 was allocated P43,560,000.00; Phase 2, P46,543,295.45.00; and Phase 3, P138,260,693.25.
The first phase was awarded to RC Tagala Construction. The notice to proceed was given to them on February 17, 2012. The project was expected to be finished on February 10, 2013.
As of this date, the scope of work covered under the contract for phase 1 has not yet been completed, and worse, the project has already been abandoned, Magpantay pointed out.
It was also learned by the BICOL STANDARD that RC Tagala construction is already delayed by four years, reckoned from the original completion target of February 10, 2013.
RC Tagala has already collected P28,250,250.881 on November 5, 2012.
This is out of the total budgetary allocation of P43,560,000.00, with an accomplishment of only 67%, according to Assistant District Engr. Victorio Corporal.
For phase 2, the contract was awarded to the joint venture of RC Tagala and Bemkar Construction.
It was able to collect P32,717,669.45 on November 25, 2013 with work accomplishment of only 70.5%. It is already delayed by three years, based on the original target date of completion.
Meanwhile, the third phase of the project is 72.22% complete and Saint Gerrard Construction has already collected P70,412,971.07.
CCW volunteers, however, believe that the physical accomplishment is much less than 72.22%, as practically they have just started to mobilize their equipment.
Field investigation by said volunteers says that as of now, they have not even laid down the piles, which are crucial for the bridge construction.
