Pour moi Bali, c’était synonyme de paradis. Pourtant, en arrivant sur Bali depuis l’ile de Java, j’ai vite déchanté ! Comme toujours, je n’avais rien organisé de mon voyage et je suis arrivée à Denpasar (la capitale de Bali) en fin d’après-midi. Une furieuse envie de plonger dans la mer me fit me diriger directement vers le sud de l’ile, à quelques kilomètres à peine, Kuta !
Mais à Kuta, la mer n’est pas si terrible que ça. En effet, pour ceux qui aiment faire du surf c’est parfait, mais pour ceux qui souhaitent se baigner tranquillement, ce n’est vraiment pas l’idéal… Les vagues sont plutôt grosses, l’eau plutôt froide et les surfeurs en herbes nombreux ! De plus, il n’est pas possible de faire 10 pas le long de la plage sant être accosté par des vendeurs en tous genres. Ceux-ci sont extrêmement insistants, voire agressifs, et c’est extrêmement désagréable.
Il en va de même dans les rues et ruelles de Kuta. Si vous aimez les drogues, les prostitués et les massages, alors vous serez servis ! Pour ceux qui s’attendent à passer des vacances agréables, n’y comptez pas… Kuta, c’est entièrement goudronné, c’est McDonalds, KFC et restaurants de luxe face à la plage. C’est également des milliers de boutiques souvenirs qui vendent des milliers de tee-shirts aux goûts douteux. En bref, si vous voulez détester Bali, il vous suffit de vous rendre directement à Kuta !
Il faut dire qu’à Bali, des petits villages de pêcheurs ont été transformés en stations balnéaires avec le tourisme de masse. Si vous avez un peu de temps, vous pouvez essayer de vous diriger vers Legian ou Seminyak (deux stations balnéaires situées juste à côté de Kuta). Il paraît que c’est un peu plus calme…
Kuta is a tourist area, administratively an urban village (kelurahan), and the capital of Kuta District, Badung Regency, southern Bali, Indonesia. Kuta is a part of the Denpasar metropolitan area, 12 km (7.5 mi) south of downtown Denpasar. Originally known as a fishing village, it was one of the first towns on Bali to see substantial tourism, and as a beach resort remains one of Indonesia's major tourist destinations. It is known internationally for its long sandy beach, varied accommodations, restaurants and bars, and many renowned surfers who visit from Australia. It is near Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport.
The Balinese Provincial Government has taken the view that the preservation of the Balinese culture, natural resources, and wildlife are of primary importance in the island's development. To this end, it has limited tourist development to the peninsula on the island's extreme southern aspect; Kuta beach is on this peninsula's western side and Sanur is on the east. To the north of the peninsula no new tourist development is supposedly permitted.
To the south, Kuta Beach extends beyond the airport into Jimbaran. Other nearby towns and villages include Seseh (6.4 nm), Denpasar (4.5 nm), Ujung (1.8 nm), Pesanggaran (2.0 nm), Kedonganan (2.9 nm), and Tuban (1.0 nm).
