SafetyWing (best for younger travelers + digital nomads):

*I use both of these companies depending on the destination and requirements of entry. If you are going to be abroad for a long time and/or don't need as much coverage, I would recommend SafetyWing. BUT you cannot purchase SafetyWing WHILE in Canada or USA. You can only purchase once already abroad. Hey Mondo is more expensive but offers a higher level of coverage including plans that have trip cancellation/interruption insurance. Hey Mondo would be the better insurance to use if you need travel medical insurance when applying for a visa. Both companies cover covid. I am an affiliate for both companies, but I pay for my own policies.*

► WHO AM I?

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself. Also to help people planning similar trips and to inspire more people to venture out and enjoy life!

P.S.: The funny guy who appears in the vlogs is my husband, Gordon. He is Canadian-American and he's actually camera-shy, that's why he's behind the camera most of the time 😉

Teotihuacán Pyramids 2022: Best Mexico City Day Trip

Teotihuacán is the best day trip from Mexico City. We share tips and tricks to make the most of your time exploring the pyramids. Don't want to mess with the public bus? Book a private van here:

In this video, we visit the Pyramid of the Sun, Pyramid of the Moon, Temple of Quetzalcóatl, and everything in between along the Avenue of the Dead.

First and foremost, can you still climb the pyramids of Teotihuacán? No. They closed the pyramids during Covid and decided to keep them closed to preserve them. We visited in the end of May 2022 and we asked a few different people and they all gave us the same answer: they have no intention of opening the pyramids back up. It's disappointing, but understandable.

The pyramids of Teotihuacán are about an hour outside Mexico City and easily accessible via the metro and a bus. You don't have to speak Spanish to use public transit in Mexico City - everything is pretty easy to figure out. And it's SO cheap. If you have questions about making the trip after watching the video, ask us in the comments. We'll help you through it.

There are guides available once you enter Teotihuacán, and they may be worthwhile. However, just know that nobody, including historians, really knows much about Teotihuacán. They're all just guessing. You can learn everything anybody knows in about 30 minutes at Museo Antropología's Teotihuacán exhibit.

Here are the tips we have to make sure you have a good experience while exploring the Pyramids of Teotihuacán.

1. Bring water - you can't buy it in the park
2. Bring snacks - also not available anywhere
3. Bring sunscreen - you're completely exposed the entire time
4. Bring cash - you'll need at least 200 pesos per person ($10 USD) for the metro, bus, and admission, plus small bills if you want to buy any souvenirs
5. Wear comfortable shoes - you walk A LOT
6. Beware of open-toed shoes - there are LOTS of fire ants along the Avenue of the Dead
7. There are three bathrooms, located at the Pyramids of the Moon and Sun, and at the Temple of Quetzalcóatl
8. Be nice to the vendors. They're nice and chill. Just smile and say no thank you.
9. Be there when it opens to avoid the crowds and the heat

Time stamps:

0:00 How to Get to Teotihuacán
1:19 Pyramid of the Sun (Pirámide del Sol)
2:21 Avenue of the Dead (Calzada de los Muertos)
3:16 Pyramid of the Moon (Pirámide de la Luna)
4:15 Palacio Quetzalpapálotl
5:43 Walking the Avenue of the Dead
7:23 Ciudadela and Temple of Quetzalcóatl
9:41 Explore the Avenue of the Dead complexes
11:41 Tips and recommendations
13:15 Catch the bus back to Mexico City
14:14 Final thoughts

We definitely recommend you visit the Pyramids of Teotihuacan. They're still worth it even if you can't climb the pyramids. The site is massive, the ruins are impressive, and it's so cool to be in a place with such history (even if we don't really know what that history is - it's amazing).

Thanks for watching and commenting. Feel free to ask us anything in the comments. We love chatting and answer questions.

In this Mexico travel vlog, I take a ferry from Cancun to the tropical Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres. This lovely little island is considered a Pueblo Mágico (aka Magic Town), a designation given to certain places in Mexico that offer visitors a unique and special experience.

In the case of Isla Mujeres, these are some of the special things you can enjoy on the island:
- Crystal clear Caribbean sea waters in every shade of blue, turquoise, and aqua you can imagine
- White sand beaches
- Mouthwatering seafood like the meal I had at Marbella
- Friendly iguanas and other wildlife
- Charming accommodations, like the seafront hotel I stayed at called La Joya ( reservaciones@hotellajoya.mx)
- Pedestrian-only streets for shopping, eating, and grabbing a drink
- Lots of water-based activities like kayaking, snorkeling, and boat tours

In this video, I include where to eat, stay, and what to do on Isla Mujeres so you can come and have a fun time like I did! What do you think of this Mexican island...would you travel here?
