Sweet & Sugary ARGENTINE BREAKFAST at a Cafe in Argentina | Esquel, Chubut
Come join us in Esquel, Argentina for a sweet and sugary Argentine breakfast at a cafe called María Castaña. Breakfast in Argentina tends is always more tilted towards sugary and sweet than it is savoury. However, instead of opting for a typical toast and medialuna combination we went even more decadent opting for cakes and pancakes! We ended up ordering for breakfast two coffees with milk (cafe con leche), a piece of chocolate cake with dulce de leche and whipped cream, a waffle with dulce de leche, cream and chocolate bits, an alfajor and our only savory item a tostada with ham and cheese. Overall, it was a delicious and very decadent Argentinian breakfast in Esquel. This is the type of breakfast you'd only have on a special occasion.

Sweet & Sugary ARGENTINE BREAKFAST at a Cafe in Argentina | Esquel, Chubut:
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world.
We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country.
We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey's parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine.
From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut.
While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina.
Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival.
We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey's dad again.
To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country.
Overall our Argentina travel series explores cities, small towns that are off-the-beaten-path, and scenic attractions with a strong emphasis on Argentina cuisine and local culture.

BARILOCHE DAY TRIP: Nahuel Huapi BOAT CRUISE 🛥️ + FONDUE FOR TWO at Llao Llao Hotel in Argentina! 🫕
It's time for a Bariloche day trip! In today's video, we'll be enjoying a boat cruise through Nahuel Huapi National Park, we'll visit the famous Arrayanes Forest, and then at the end of the day, we'll treat ourselves to a fancy fondue for two at the Llao Llao Hotel. So, this boat cruise took us to Nahuel Huapi National Park, which is the oldest national park in all of Argentina. We decided to go with a tour operator called Cau Cau and we booked everything online.
The tour departed from Puerto Pañuelo, which is the port directly across the Llao Llao Hotel. Our first stop of the day was at Isla Victoria, where we had some time to explore the island. The beach is a lovely place to linger if you happen to visit on a warm, sunny day, plus there are also hiking trails with cool lookout points along the way.
We learned this a bit too late, but even though this destination is advertised as a day trip, there’s a lodge on the island where you can spend the night. The place is called Hosteria Isla Victoria and it’s a pretty luxurious place offering kayaking, mountain biking, guided hikes, gourmet meals and unbeatable views. If we get the chance to go back, we definitely want to stay here!
We then got back on the boat and continued the journey to the famous Arrayanes Forest. Los Arrayanes National Park was created in 1971 with the sole purpose of protecting the rare arrayán trees. The trees in this forest are believed to be around 300 years old, though there are some specimens upwards of 400 years. The arrayán is known for its cinnamon coloured bark and they are surprisingly cool to the touch. This is because their bark is so thin, that you can feel the sap inside the tree. Once we arrived, we had some time to do the boardwalk loop around the forest and visit the beach.
Then it was time to sail back to Puerto Pañuelo. Once we finished our excursion of Nahuel Huapi National Park and arrived back at the port, we saw the beautiful Llao Llao Hotel at the top of the hill; it was just a little too irresistible, so we decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner!
We managed to get a table at their Cafe Patagonia, where we ordered the fondue for two, which was divine and a super fun meal. We also got to go down to their cellar to select a bottle of wine. All in all a great day!
If you find yourself travelling in San Carlos de Bariloche, this is a classic day trip to add to your itinerary!

GERMAN FOOD IN ARGENTINA! + Town Tour of VILLA GENERAL BELGRANO, Córdoba
Greetings from Villa General Belgrano! In today's video, we take you on a tour of this German town in the province of Córdoba, plus we also try German food at Blumen.
Villa General Belgrano is a mountainside town in the Calamuchita Valley in the Province of Córdoba that was founded by Germans in 1930 and soon attracted immigrants from Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Austria. Today, the town has a distinct Alpine architectural style with wood-frame homes, and it's also managed to maintain its German culture, which is really visible through its food! Restaurants serve up German dishes and there are also lots of micro-breweries for those looking to sample the beer. This town also hosts the biggest Oktoberfest outside of Germany!
We ate at Blumen where we tried pork cutlet with mushrooms and gravy, chucrut (sauerkraut with bacon), boiled potatoes with parsley, caramelized apples and peas. We paired this with a blond beer and a red beer from the local Berlin brewery. For dessert, we went with a classic and tried the Apfelstrudel, which is a delicious a pastry stuffed with apples, nuts, raisins.
Guten appetit and we hope you enjoy our little walking tour through town!

Classic Argentine Breakfast in Buenos Aires, Argentina: Eating Medialuna and Drinking Café Con Leche
Join us for a classic Argentine breakfast in Buenos Aires, Argentina where we try eating a plethora of medialuna (Argentine croissants) and drinking giant cups of café con leche (Argentine coffee with milk) at local restaurant Residente. Whenever we visit Buenos Aires, we tend to find a few local spots serving up great food and drinks at affordable prices. Resident cafe was exactly that and more. We also tried their lunch menu which was decent.
I ended up ordering the completo tostado which we called the greedy guts breakfast which came with toast, soda water, fresh squeezed orange juice, jam and cookies. Audrey grabbed the medialunas and cafe con leche. The cups of coffee are so big we felt like we were getting a 2-1 special and the quality of the coffee in Buenos Aires is second to none. Medialunas come in salty or sweet variety but we prefer the sweet one usually.
Price point for the breakfast came 350 Pesos which was $5.80 USD. What a bargain for such a feast! That actually included a second cup of coffee. We'd highly recommend this place for the intersection of great food and the right price.

Merienda: Afternoon Tea for two in Buenos Aires, Argentina Travel Video Transcript:
So it is five PM here in Buenos Aires which means it is tea time or as we call it here it is Merienda time. So, we're at a little place called La Biela. This is a really famous cafe across from the Recoleta Cemetery. We've got a table, we've ordered our food.
And a special surprise should be coming. I'm not going to tell you what Merienda consists of until it gets here.
So apparently this place used to be a really popular hangout with race car drivers and celebrities who are into racing back in the 30's. So you can kind of get a feel for that in the decor. They have a lot of dated cars and tools on the walls. And you can even see that on the napkin. They've got like a little race car. Look at that fancy napkin. Some tools. La Biela. Fancy. And apparently La Biela is the name of a tool that you use to work on cars.
So have a look over here. Um, this meal that we ordered it comes with two croissants. So we'll be sharing those. These are called medialunas. And they are sweet buttery media lunas. I love these. And it also comes with a tostado jamon y queso. Which is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Yeah, those are really good. We've been having a lot of those in Buenos Aires. Yeah, so super thin, lightly toasted. They are kind of your staple snack sandwich in Argentina, aren't they?
Oh yeah. That's good. Just a very thin layer of ham and cheese. Super light. Like I could probably eat ten of these I mean they are so thin and light.
So I guess technically we should be calling this coffee time not tea time. Because neither of us is having tea. Well, in Argentina - especially in Buenos Aires - coffee seems to be a bit more popular than tea.
And now we actually come to appreciate good quality coffee. It is funny.
And next up we have this sweet medialuna. Let me just break it in half so you can have a look in there. Look at how fluffy that is. Mmmm.
And our order came with three different slices of pastries, cakes, pies, whatever you want to call it. Sweet treats.
So why don't we explain what there is. So this one here has chocolate and I think kind of a cracker filling with dulce de leche.
And over here we've got it appears to be like kind of a slice of apple pie. But what is cool about this pie is that it has like a white glaze. A glaze over top of it. Some extra sugar in there. No complaints about that.
And last but not least we have this. So that is called Pionono. It is a mini pionono. And it is kind of like a little roll with dulce de leche in the middle. Yeah, and anything with dulce de leche is a hit with us.
You know what, I don't know what we're going to do when we leave Argentina. Like when we can't get dulce de leche desserts anymore.
Okay, and now last but not least where is that pionono? Let's get a bite. Wow, you're really making me go on a roll here. No, help? I've had the croissants and I had the sandwich. Show us how it is done.
It is time to go now. Say bye Sam. Bye buddy. It has been a good experience. You do need to clean your teeth though. Yeah, he does. But anyways, let's talk about the price of that meal. Yeah, so it was just over 200 Pesos. So you're looking at roughly 13-14 US dollars. Fantastic value. All of the things we had were really high quality including the sandwich, the croissants, the cakes and all of the pastries. And good quality coffee on top that too. Everything was good. Everything was good. Come here.
This is part of our Travel in Argentina series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Argentine culture, Argentine cuisine, Argentine food, Argentinian food & Argentinian cuisine.
