THEY told me NOT to COME HERE! | TORREÓN, Coahuila | Travel MEXICO 2021 | MEXICAN Food! | 4K ????????

TORREÓN, COAHUILA, Mexico - Hola! In this Travel Mexico video, we travel from Durango to the neighbouring state of Coahuila, more specifically, to the city of Torreón! They told me not to come here (ie everyone) due to the fact that it's supposedly not the safest city in Mexico and there's nothing to do. Unsurprisingly, 'they' were WRONG!

This video (in 4k) covers some first impressions of Torreón, we eat some amazing street food at a local market (lonches!), and head up the Teleférico to Cerro de las Noas, known for a particular type of cactus common across northern Mexican states and wait for it, the tallest CHRIST statue in NORTH AMERICA!!

If you're thinking about moving to Mexico or becoming one of the increasing number of expats in Mexico, your choices aren't limited to popular areas like Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. Durango/Coahuila are states that, granted, you'll need to be able to speak Spanish in, but the city and state has so much to offer, just as much as those other places!

???????? TORREÓN, COAHUILA | Mexico's Most INCREDIBLE CITY! | Museo del FERROCARRIL | MEXICO TRAVEL 2022

???????? TORREÓN, MEXICO - Welcome back to Torreón, Coahuila, one of my favourite cities in Mexico! This is Part 24 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in Northern Mexico, previously filming 2 videos in Torreón in 2021, in addition to Durango, Nombre de Dios, Puente de Ojuela, Matamoros, Gómez Palacio and Lerdo. An INCREDIBLE area of Mexico!

Torreón can often be seen as just another regular, industrial city without the history of central and southern Mexico. Yes, it’s a younger city, but that doesn't mean it doesn’t have interesting history or decent food. In fact, the comida Mexicana (Mexican food) I’ve had here is the BEST I’ve had in Mexico (I’m not even joking!).

We visit Bosque Venustiano Carranza, Casa Ricardo Montalbán, Casa del Cerro, Museo del Ferrocarril (insane), and old classics Mercado Alianza, Paseo de Morelos, the Teleferico and Cristo de la Noas! Dios Mío! As you can see, there are so many things to do in Torreón!

You’re treated like a local in Torreón; there are very few tourists so you’re treated like a local… trust me - Something you cannot experience in a tourist area. People from Torreón are, as I say, ICONIC!

If you’re thinking of becoming expats in Mexico or moving to Mexico, you don’t have to move to San Miguel de Allende or Guanajuato. Somewhere like Torreón may not be traditionally ‘pretty’, but it still has a tremendous amount to offer!

Is this the most incredible city in Mexico?

TORREÓN, Coahuila | The City That Guide Books Don't Mention | MEXICO

Many, including Mexicans, view Torreón as a place to avoid. Apparently it’s an industrial town with not a lot happening. My Lonely Planet guide book doesn’t have a single mention (other than the dot on the map) about Torreón. Another book I have (published 20 years ago) also fails to mention Torreón - all of this combined made me curious; WHY / HOW could a place be so bad that it’s swept under the rug for all to avoid? This video puts into question the reliability of guide books as a tool for travel.

You can see the Nomad Capitalist video here:

In this video, I'm going to give you my thoughts on the safety in various popular expat destinations around Mexico such as Mexico City, Merida, Guadalajara, Cabo San Lucas, Lake Chapala, and others.

???????? TORREÓN, COAHUILA | SHOCKINGLY Good GORDITAS in The Industrial BACKBONE of MEXICO | Travel Mexico

???????? TORREÓN, MEXICO - Welcome back to Torreón, Coahuila, one of my favourite cities in Mexico! This is Part 25 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! This video is all about the industrial and ‘normal’ side of Mexico no one else shows you. Torreón Is the backbone of Mexican industry - many products you consume in Mexico originate here, such as Lala milk, as well as big brands like the supermarket, Soriana.

Torreón can often be seen as just another regular, industrial city without the history of central and southern Mexico. Yes, it’s a younger city, but that doesn't mean it doesn’t have interesting history or decent food. In fact, the comida Mexicana (Mexican food) I’ve had here is the BEST I’ve had in Mexico (I’m not even joking!), including the shockingly good GORDITAS featured in this video (amazing street food and possibly the best!)! We also go to Bosque Urbano!

I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in Northern Mexico, previously filming 2 videos in Torreón in 2021, in addition to Durango, Nombre de Dios, Puente de Ojuela, Matamoros, Gómez Palacio and Lerdo. An INCREDIBLE area of Mexico with just as much to offer as the colonial south. And very different!

If you’re thinking of becoming expats in Mexico or moving to Mexico, you don’t have to move to San Miguel de Allende or Guanajuato or listen to the outdated ‘is Mexico safe’ rhetoric. Somewhere like Torreón may not be traditionally ‘pretty’, but it still has a tremendous amount to offer!

MATAMOROS, COAHUILA | The MEXICO You Don't See on YouTube! | TASTY Lonches ADOBADA | TORREÓN, Mexico

MATAMOROS, COAHUILA - Welcome back to my 2021 Mexico Travel series for another Mexico travel video!! This is part 15 and we are in the state of Coahuila in Northern Mexico in the smaller city of Matamoros - it certainly isn't Cancun and is definitely the Mexico you DON'T see on YouTube!

Matamoros is located about 30 minutes on the bus from Torreón, Mexico and a real example of off the beaten track Mexico. It's a small city which very much personifies real-life in Mexico without the bells and whistles of tourist destinations. We have some awesome comida mexicana (Mexican food) in tasty lonches adobada, which is a common dish in the area thanks to the AMAZING Pan Francés (french bread - only available in Coahuila!) which may be an example of some of the BEST food in Mexico, and to some random destinations such as a (possible) water tower, a baseball stadium, a cake shop AND discover the bizarre story of Benito Juarez hiding the National Archives here in the 1800s. WHAT!!?

This is Part 2 of a 4 part series. Next up, we are back in Torreón!

If you're thinking about moving to Mexico or becoming one of the increasing number of expats in Mexico, your choices aren't limited to popular areas like Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende, Cancun or Puerto Vallarta. You might even be looking for off the beaten track Mexico. You might ask the questions, Is Mexico Safe? or, Is Mexico dangerous. Sinaloa is a state that, granted, you'll need to be able to speak Spanish in, but the city and state has so much to offer, just as much as those other places!

???????? TORREÓN, Coahuila IN 4K | HOT Midday CITY WALKAROUND! | MEXICO Travel 2022

???????? TORREÓN, COAHUILA, MEXICO - Welcome back to Torreón! This video is Part 23 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! It's time to have a very hot midday city walkaround IN 4K! I've been in Torreón for a few weeks and will be here until mid-July, filming videos in old favourites like Torreón itself, and Gomez Palacio, Durango, as well as some new, lesser-known locations!

This is my third visit to Torreón. I was here twice in 2021 and it was a city which captured my heart as a 'different' city in Mexico, one which I consider to be a 'normal' city I would happily live in without the level of tourism which other Mexican cities. Despite this overall view of Torreón, the city does have interesting history, architecture, amazing comida Mexicana (Mexican food) such as insane gorditas, lonches, nieves and much more!

Stay tuned for future videos from Torreón which will all be my regular style of video. You can check out my previous Torreón videos in this playlist -

If you're thinking of moving to Mexico or being expats in Mexico, there are more options than Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende! Northern Mexico has a lot to offer, so don't be afraid of considering it! Is Mexico Safe? Dangerous? I've never had a single issue in Torreón, in fact, quite the opposite! Torreón is one of Mexico's iconic places to visit and should absolutely be on your list if your are looking for Mexico ideas (especially if you don't want to follow the crowd!)

The BEST GORDITAS EVER at Mexico's EIFFEL TOWER? | GÓMEZ PALACIO, Durango | TORREÓN'S Sister City

GÓMEZ PALACIO, DURANGO, MEXICO - Welcome to Part 1 of a 4 part series based out of the city of Torreón, Coahuila! In this 2021 Mexico Travel video, we’re exploring the city of Gómez Palacio, Durango. In subsequent videos we are visiting Matamoros, Lerdo and also a second video from Torreón itself!

Gómez Palacio is Torreón’s sister city, across the river Nazas on the state line between Coahuila and Durango. Both cities have an industrial past and are often forgotten about and not on everyone’s lists when it comes to travelling in Mexico. Not anymore!

Gómez Palacio has some of the best food on offer in Mexico (comida Mexicana - Mexican food!), including (possibly the best gorditas ever!) gorditas de discada and asada rojo. Discada is traditionally prepared on a farming harrow (like a disc) and is made of various pork-related meats such as bacon, ham and sausage. Asada rojo is pork in a spicy red sauce - unbelievably good!

As well as heading to a local mercado, we explore the central square, the railway, an abandoned building and even Mexico's Eiffel Tower! (yes, Gómez has one too!)

This series of videos is about exploring real-life in Mexico and how actually getting to know people in a city can make all the difference to your experience!

SHOCKED by MEXICO'S Most DIVERSE City | Inside TORREON's TEATRO Isauro Martinez! | Torreón, Coahuila

TORREON, COAHUILA, MEXICO - Welcome to Part 16 of my 2021 Mexico Travel series in which we head back to Torreón in the state of Coahuila in northern Mexico. This is the third part of a four part mini-series where we also visit Gómez Palacio, Matamoros, and Lerdo.

I was in Torreón a couple of months ago for one day only, so I thought I'd come back to explore some more! Today we go on an all access private tour inside quite possibly Mexico's most impressive theatre - Torreón's Teatro Isauro Martinez, which is approaching its 100th birthday. Many it's more impressive than Bellas Artes in CDMX and Teatro Juarez in Guanajuato! Ok, I wasn't really shocked (LOL) but the Teatro is a perfect example of why Torreón may actually be Mexico's most diverse city. Built in gothic and byzantine styles, with influences from various cultures both inside and out, the theatre is indicative of Torreón's history in relation to Arab, Chinese, French, German people and many more.

We also have some some classic Mexican food (comida mexicana) in gorditas, explore TWO local markets, head down Canal de la Perla, have raspados at Neveria Capri, and visit Parque Alameda. Note that there are other points in Torreón in the previous Torreón video, such as Cristo de la Noas and the Teleferico.

Lerdo is up next!

Torreón, Mexico (City Tour & History)

A tour and history of Torreon (Mexico) where you can also get ideas of the best things to do or things to see when traveling here. Mostly focusing on the downtown center and old town district of the city.

Here's the playlist of the videos I made bicycling through Mexico:

???????? TORREÓN, Coahuila | BEST BURRITOS in MEXICO for 25 PESOS? | INCREDIBLE Mexican STREET Food!

???????? TORREÓN, MEXICO - Welcome back to Torreón, Coahuila, one of my favourite cities in Mexico! This is Part 26 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series! In this video we head to Zona Industrial to check out the ginormous Cerro Negro (an obvious sign of Torreón’s industrial side, but most of all we head to my favourite burrito place in town for some awesome asado rojo de puerco montado style burritos! The Comida Mexicana (mexican food), particularly street food, can be incredible in Torreón, eaten by Laguneros in Comarca Lagunera on a daily basis, and it's extremely affordable - 25 pesos for the best burrito in Mexico?

BURRITOS Y QUESADAILLAS VILLA DE AHUMADA -
Avenida Mariano López Ortiz 69, Torreón, Coahuila de Zaragoza 27000

We also have a chat about my final impressions of Torreón after FIVE WEEKS staying in this city in Northern Mexico!

Torreón can often be seen as just another regular, industrial city without the history of central and southern Mexico. Yes, it’s a younger city, but that doesn't mean it doesn’t have interesting history or decent food.
