Romania: Leaving Sacel station behind a CFR Class 64 diesel loco on a service to Cluj Napoca

Romania: Leaving Sacel station behind CFR Class 64 diesel loco (no. 64-1019) on train R4113, the 1600 Sighetu Marmatiei to Cluj Napoca.
Clip recorded 29th September 2021.

Săcel is a commune in Maramureș County, Maramureș, Romania. Composed of a single village, Săcel, it is the last locality up the Iza Valley. From here one can get to the Vișeu Valley through Dealul Moiseiului Pass (towards the northeast) and to Transylvania (specifically Năsăud, towards the south) through Dealul Ștefāniței Pass, which separates the Țibleș and Rodna Mountains.

Săcel is famous for its red, unglazed pottery obtained through ancient, Dacian techniques that date back more than 2000 years ago. Nowadays, an ancient Roman type oven is used for burning the clay. Săcel pots are manufactured in Dacian style and they are ornamented using mineral elements.

Căile Ferate Române (abbreviated as CFR) is the official designation of the state railway carrier of Romania. The railway network of Romania consists of 11,380 km (7,070 mi), of which 3,971 km (2,467 mi) (34.9%) are electrified, and the total track length is 22,247 km (13,824 mi), of which 8,585 km (5,334 mi) (38.5%) are electrified. The network is significantly interconnected with other European railway networks, providing pan-European passenger and freight services. CFR as an entity has been operating since 1880, even though the first railway on current Romanian territory was opened in 1854.

CFR is divided into four autonomous companies:

CFR Călători, responsible for passenger services;
CFR Marfă, responsible for freight transport;
CFR Infrastructură, manages the infrastructure on the Romanian railway network; and
Societatea Feroviară de Turism, or SFT, which manages scenic and tourist railways.

CFR Călători, the passenger service division of CFR, operates seven types of passenger train, both on Romania's territory, with rolling stock and locomotives, or internationally, with rolling stock. Also, CFR operates international trains on Romanian territory with its own locomotives. The train types vary in terms of speed and type of rolling stock. In 2010, approximately 58 million passengers have traveled with the company. 10 million travelers have preferred private equity firms in particular on the side lines.

CFR train types are:
Regio (R) -- the trains have assigned numbers from 2000 to 9999
InterRegio (IR) -- the trains have assigned numbers from 200 to 499, 600 to 999, 1000 to 1999 and 10000 to 14999
InterCity (IC) -- numbered from 500 to 599
EuroCity (EC) -- numbered as IC trains from 500 to 599
EuroNight (EN) -- numbered as IC trains from 500 to 599
Special (S) -- tourist trains operated on scenic routes with vintage rolling stock, numbered from S1 to S9

Aside from the seven main train types, CFR also operates night trains, which can be of any status (usually Rapid, InterCity or EuroNight). Freight trains, operated by CFR Marfă, have a different numbering system.

Maramureș County is a county (județ) in Romania, in the Maramureș region. The county seat is Baia Mare.

In Hungarian it is known as Máramaros megye, in Ukrainian as Мараморо́щина, and in German as Kreis Marmarosch.

Maramureș County is situated in the northern part of Romania, and has a border with Ukraine. This county has a total area of 6,304 square kilometres (2,434 sq mi), of which 43% is covered by the Rodna Mountains, with its tallest peak, Pietrosul, at 2,303 metres (7,556 ft) altitude. Together with Gutâi and Țibleș mountain ranges, the Rodna mountains are part of the Eastern Carpathians. The rest of the county are hills, plateaus, and valleys. The county is crossed by Tisa River and its main tributaries: Iza, Vișeu, and Mara rivers.

Maramureș is known for its pastoral and agricultural traditions, largely unscathed by the industrialisation campaign that had been carried on during Romania's communist period. Ploughing, planting, harvesting, and hay making and handling are mostly done through manual labour.

Romania: View from a Sighetu Marmatiei - Viseu de Jos train between Valea Viseului and Viseu Bistra

Romania: A clip recorded between Valea Viseului and Viseu Bistra hc on board train R4654 , the 1425 from Sighetu Marmatiei to Viseu de Jos. The clip shows views from the back of the train and also that the doors are left wide open whilst the train is in motion, a common practice on Romanian railways. The train was hauled by Sulzer diesel loco number 62-0630.
Recorded 29 September 2021.

Sulzer Ltd. is a Swiss industrial engineering and manufacturing firm, founded by Salomon Sulzer-Bernet in 1775 and established as Sulzer Brothers Ltd. in 1834 in Winterthur, Switzerland.

Sulzer developed a series of rail traction engines in the 1930s and 1940s which were used extensively in diesel locomotives in the UK, Europe and South America. A small number were used in locomotives in Africa and Australia. The Sulzer LDA (prefixed by the number of cylinders, and with a suffix related to the cylinder bore) engine was widely used by British Rail. Many were built under licence by Vickers-Armstrong at Barrow as six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder form. The twelve-cylinder engine was used in the British Rail Class 47 and several others. The 12LDA28 engine was a double bank engine having, in effect, two six-cylinder engines side by side, rather than a V-type as favoured by many other manufacturers. Sulzer V-type engines for rail use bore the type number LVA (with a 50-degree angle between the banks).

Ožujsko pivo on Rodnei Mountains ROMANIA

Concerns for the designation of protected areas Rodna there since 1932, when the Official Council of Ministers no. 1949/1932, reconfirmed by Law no. 137/1995 Pietrosu Scientific Reserve was established Rodnei (182 ha), and in 1979 it was declared a Biosphere Reserve in the Man and Biosphere Program, Paris - sponsored by the United Nations Education Science and Culture. Rodnei Mountains National Park is the largest protected area in northern Eastern Carpathians, with an area of 46,339 ha. The importance of this protected area is due to the geology and geomorphology of mountains and the presence of numerous species of fauna and flora, endemic and relict glacial.
Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, responsible for the proper management of protected areas in Romania, has committed under contract for 10 years Rodnei Mountains National Park administration, the National Forest Company Bistrita-ROMSILVA by the Forestry Department.
