The World's Most Famous Picnic Spot
Welcome to the Macedon Ranges, home to one of the world's most famous picnic spots - Hanging Rock.
Rumoured to have been the haunt of bushranger 'Mad Dog' Morgan, this small extinct volcano (or mamelon) was formed by an upheaval of lava millions of years ago. It was made famous by the classic Australian novel and later movie Picnic at Hanging Rock, the mythic tale of the Valentine's Day disappearance of a group of schoolgirls and their teacher while visiting Hanging Rock in 1901. The legend endures, and an air of mystery and intrigue still lingers.
The mound of massive granite tors is riddled with caves, tunnels and overhanging boulders, its shapes and acoustic echoes enhancing its already spooky reputation making it an ideal hiking destination with the views from the top well worth the walk.
Surrounded by breath-taking natural scenery, expansive forests and heritage gardens, the Macedon Ranges regions has the sights, sounds, smells and tastes to satisfy every sense - and best of fall, it's only an hour from Melbourne.
Nestled among the rolling hills of the surrounding region is a treasure trove of some of regional Victoria's best food and wine.

Here's your outdoor-lovers guide to Daylesford & Macedon Ranges:
Three Days in Sydney | City Guides | Tourism Australia
Sydney is the effortlessly glamourous Aussie city that you’ve always had on your bucket list.
Start your visit on top of the world with an early morning Sydney Harbour Bridge climb for uninterrupted panoramic views of the city. Keep the love affair with the world-famous harbour going with an Aboriginal heritage tour around the Royal Botanical Gardens or hop on a ferry at Circular Quay and cruise across to visit some of Sydney’s most exotic animal residents at Taronga Zoo. Close the day out with some signature Sydney-style glamour: sunset drinks under the wings of the iconic Sydney Opera House’s Opera Bar. Catch a glimpse of one the most famed beaches on the planet with a morning surf lesson at Bondi Beach or dust off the sand and dine on the balcony at Bondi’s wildly popular Icebergs restaurant overlooking the entire beach and cliffside.
Now you’ve done Sydney’s glamourous inner-east, make a move to get your urban creativity and culture fix in Sydney’s inner-west. Be sure to take in the wildly unique and eclectic art experience that is White Rabbit Gallery in Chippendale, home to the world’s largest collection of Chinese contemporary art. Grab a bite to eat on Kensington Street before strolling to Sydney’s most eccentric and visually interesting suburbs, Newtown, Enmore and Marrickville. Join Culture Scouts Street Art Tour to check out the boundary-pushing work of local street artists, before finishing the day bar-hopping for local brews like Young Henry’s in Newtown or craft gin at Poor Toms in Marrickville.

🇦🇺Australia's MOST BEAUTIFUL Walk? (ACCELERATED SPEED) #travel #tourismaustralia
Clipped from this full-length walk:
Backing Track: Beethoven's 9th Symphony - Finale
Join me for this beautiful & relaxing walk along the Oceanview Track through Burleigh Head National Park. This walk begins on the southern side of the bridge at Tallebudgera Creek, crossing over the creek and then making our way to Burleigh Hill at Burleigh Heads.
While walking around the face of Burleigh Head - Jellurgal - the filtered morning light is so very beautiful as it makes it's way through the tree canopy and reflects on the water and the breaking waves. There are just so many special things to see along the way, surprises around each corner.
After enjoying the amazing Gold Coast view and watching the waves roll in from Burleigh Hill, we make our way back around the face of Burleigh Head and finish at beautiful Tallebudgera Creek on the south side of the headland. We also wander down to the creek and enjoy the beautiful little beaches down there.
This was filmed in Winter between 8 am and 9 am - the temperature was 18C. A perfect Gold Coast Winter's Day.
This amazing place draws hundreds to thousands of people per day all year round but always manages to maintain its absolute beauty.
This is the Country of the Yugambeh People who are the traditional custodians of Jellurgal (Burleigh Head) and the Gold Coast region (South-east Queensland from the Narang River south to the Tweed River). As always, I acknowledge and pay my respects to the traditional People, the Elders past, present and emerging of all lands I walk upon.
