Exploring Estonia - There is more to Estonia than just Tallinn - Travel Guide
Estonia is an underrated country and well worth a visit for its medieval buildings, history and friendly people. Estonia is one of the 3 Baltic State Countries.
Estonia has more to offer than just its beautiful capital, Tallinn and we wanted to see more.
In this video after exploring the Old Town of Tallinn we take a road trip around Estonia, heading for the largest Island, Saaremaa and the medieval town of Kuressaare. It has a wonderful moated castle and picturesque streets and lanes to explore.
We also head to southern Estonia and visit the town of Viljandi with its hilltop castle ruins and cute suspension bridge.
Next, we cross to the second largest city in Estonia, Tartu taking a short walk around the old town and up to Cathedral Hill to see the ruins of the Tartu Cathedral.
Our final overnight stop was in the wonderful Lahemaa National Park, with its beautiful nature reserve and waterfall.
We came away from Estonia wanting more and with a better appreciation of its history, culture and nature. We hope this video inspires you to visit Estonia sometime soon!

Tapa - Aimless Wandering in an Estonian Town with Kentmere 100
In this vlog, we went to Tapa, Estonia. From the Baltic Station, we rode a train to Tapa and then I loaded a roll of Kentmere 100 into my Asahi Pentax Spotmatic SP. I used my Super-Revuenon 35mm lens. Mostly film today, although I did use my Fujifilm X-E2 for a few shots. There was nothing specific we wanted to see in Tapa, so we wandered and had a good time exploring the town. Of course, we took a break for beer, and then headed out towards a park. Overall, a lovely summer day. I hope you enjoy.
Video shot on iPhone 8 and Fujifilm X-E2.

3 best multi-day hikes in North-Estonia
#estonia #hikerinestonia #hikinginestonia
The 3 best multi-day hikes in North-Estonia in my opinion are:
1. The Kõrve Trail (also known as the first sections of the Oandu-Ikla trail). 78km / 48 miles one way. The first section passes thru one of the most beautiful national parks in Estonia –the Lahemaa National Park. Also there are some sections that are closed off for cars for super nice and remote trekking.
2. Aegviidu-Aravete trail (a section from the Peraküla-Ähijärve trail). 67km / 41 miles one way. The section passes thru 2 of my favourite bogs, the Kakerdaja bog and the Seli bog (on the Simisalu-Matsimäe trail). Some parts are a bit of dirt car-roads but other sections are amazing forest and wild nature experiences!
Transportation update: The buss from Aravete to Tallinn does not seem to go as often as I remembered it. It's like really rare now. A wiser way would be to take a bus to Tapa and then take a train to Tallinn from there. Use Google maps directions option with public transportation, it tells you the options pretty accurately.
3. Nõva Recreational Area. 64km /40 miles out and back. Combine two smaller trails with the first part of the Pearküla-Ähijärve trail for some picturesque pine forests and white sandy beaches. Also do not miss the „moving river delta“!
Transportation update: there are some busses going to Nõva, but you have to change buses and walk few kilometers to the trail head. Use Google Maps directions with public transportation option, it shows the possibilities very well!
BONUS TRAIL/AREA! One of the most rugged nature area in Estonia – the Northern Shore of Lake Peipus Recreation Area. The newest long-distance hiking trail that starts from Ida-Virumaa and definitely is worth checking out! Unfortunately the English materials are not available yet (as of October 2018).

Lake Rae Hiking Trail and Camping Site is a calm and peaceful resting place in the middle of forests. In addition to swimming and fishing, you can admire the varied landscapes and pass the 1.7 km hiking trail that runs along the shore of Lake Rae. You have to cross a footbridge, a suspended bridge, a boardwalk and fallen trees to get to the 5 metre viewing tower. There is a fish ladder built in 2003 near the rest area, which allows the fish to swim from the Ura River to Lake Rae. There are three bonfire places, firewood in a shed, a village .
