OZAMIS CITY, Misamis Occidental (Tourist Spots and Guide) 2020 VLOG
#Vlogging my comprehensive travel guide and things you need to know about Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental; history, how to get here, where to stay and budget.
I traveled to this city because I want to see and touch Fort sa Cotta and the Ozamis Cathedral. On the way, I noticed the wide farmlands but when I arrived in the center, this city is the same with the other cities, business establishments are in every corner, transportation is continuous and the streets are undeniably busy. From the Ozamis Integrated Terminal, I rode in a tricycle to the different tourist spots, attractions and destinations.
VISIT FORT SA COTTA: This is one of the Spanish built fortresses in the Philippines. The main purpose of this edifice is the same as the function of Fort Santiago in Manila and Fort sa Pedro in Cebu which is to protect the city/town against the attacks of the moro pirates. This sturdy structure is made up of coral stones, thus, during World War 2, Fort sa Cotta served as a garrison, barracks and a storage area for the military. Today, it is one of the most popular historical site and a landmark in Misamis Occidental and in the entire Northern Mindanao region. During my visit, it was closed due to renovation.
VISIT OZAMIS CATHEDRAL: This cathedral houses the most significant relic and the patroness of Ozamis City - the Our Lady of Misamis, also known as the Virgin sa Cotta, The Blessed Virgin of Cotta, and Birhen sa Cotta. Originally, the statue of the patroness was set up outside the walls of Fort sa Cotta, but fray Jorge Carcabilla moved it to this church. In 1975, the statue was stolen and was only returned on December 8, 2017. Also, Ozamiz Cathedral is the home of the second largest bamboo organ in the Philippines, after Las Pinas Bamboo Organ.
HOW TO GET HERE:
Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines has their regular trips to the airports in Dipolog City and Pagadian City. These two cities have their own Integrated Bus Terminal where you can ride on a Rural Transit bus or UV Express van to Ozamis City. Dipolog to Ozamis is 5.5 hours and Pagadian to Ozamis is 3 hours.

☁ Dubbed as the Tagaytay of the South due to its undeniably cold weather.
🚘Travel period usually takes 20-30 minutes since the approximate distance is 15km from the heart of Tangub City.
📍Important Information:
1. Entrance Fee per person: Php30
2. Parking fee - Php50 (Car/Vans) and Php10 (Motorcycles)
3. Opens Daily from 8am to 6pm
4. Foods/Drinks are allowed, no corkage for the meantime but be responsible on your own trash
📍What to expect
1. Feel the cold breeze and see nature's overlooking view.
2. You are 2,788ft above sea level.
3. Mobile signal to all networks is good.
📍How to get there?
1. Private Transpo.
- I suggest you use a locator app such as Waze and/or google maps.
2. Public Transportation.
- From Ozamis City. At the Ozamis terminal, ride a bus or Van going to Molave or Pagadian. Tell the driver to drop you in Tangub City (around 20-30 minutes travel period). Fare is around Php20-30 per person. Then from Tangub terminal, find a single motorcycle (habal2x), make an arrangement to the habal2x driver if how much is his rate to Hoyohoy ( Php500 good for 2 persons and for 2 destinations back and forth). Travel period is around 20-30mins.
- From Molave/Pagadian City. From terminal, ride a bus going to Ozamis. Fare is Php45 if from Molave and I don’t have any idea if how much is from Pagadian City. Then from Tangub terminal, find a single motorcycle (habal2x), make an arrangement to the habal2x driver if how much is his rate to Hoyohoy (ours was Php500 good for 2 persons and for 2 destinations back and forth). Travel period is around 20-30mins.

It is one of the scenic tourist spot located in Tangub City Misamis Occidental. You can experience a glass walk and a gorgeous sea of clouds.

GARDENS OF THE WORLD | TANGUB CITY MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL | EXPLORING OZAMIS CITY AND TANGUB CITY
Last May 2022 when we went to visit my brother in law's place in ozamis City, they treated us for a tour in the beautiful places of Tangub City. One of the places we visited was the Gardens of the World situated on a hilltop. It's a haven-like facility owned and managed by the city government of Tangub.
It was designed to be a premier hotel and convention facility showcasing different gardens inspired by the famous gardens around the globe. However during our visit it seemed like it was not well maintained.
Mt Malindang is very visible there. It is an extinct volcano with elevation of 2404 meters above sea level and believed to be the highest point in the province. It is extinct because it recorded its last series of eruption last 2 million years ago.
The place (Gardens of the World) is very perfect for muni-muni or meditation. Up there you can see the beautiful scenery overlooking Panguil Bay, where you can see the construction of the bridge connecting Tangub City and Tubod Lanao del Norte. The bridge is expected to be completed by year 2023.
