Gettysburg National Military Park

June 10, 2023 -- Gettysburg was one of the historical sites our family visited soon after moving to Washington, DC. It definitely left an impression, yet none of us had returned to the park since they built the new Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center in 2008. The new museum houses one of the nation's largest collections of Civil War memorabilia, including the Gettysburg Cyclorama, America's largest painting. I opted for the expensive Film, Cyclorama & Museum Experience + Battlefield Bus Tour Value Package. If I were to do it again, I'd skip the bus tour and concentrate my time on only a few places on the battlefield--most likely Oak Ridge Observation Tower, Little Round Top, Seminary Ridge and Cemetery Ridge, the last two of which were the site of the final battle. The film is definitely worth seeing, as is the cyclorama and museum.
