The only wild animals are pigeons 🇨🇿 Blatná Castle, Czech Republic

This video, created during a long-forgotten summer, resurfaces now to infuse your hearts with warmth. Sometimes, life has a way of surprising us when we least expect it.

Blatná Castle history
The castle and grounds at Blatna are undoubtedly one of the most important monuments of their type in this country today from an architectural and historical standpoint. The castle's long history, distinct architectural style in a rare surviving environment of parks and water, and current condition make it a jewel among castle complexes. Along with Švihov and Červena Lhota, Blatna is one of the best-preserved water castles in the Czech Republic. Its architectural and historical development made this chateau a striking example of the changing artistic styles over the centuries. Since it was held mainly by members of the high nobility over the years, Blatna was one of the places where Central Europe's history was made and shaped.
Archeological findings indicate that the knoll in the middle of the marshes (blata – from where Blatna's name derives) was settled in prehistoric times. Slavs began to appear in the Blatna area in the late 7th and early 8th centuries. Permanent Slavic settlement, however, only occurred in the late 10th century.
The settlement at Blatna was well positioned because of an essential old trade route connecting Sušice and Horažďovice, which crossed the river Lomnice at this spot. Blatna's first historical record was in 1235 when the fortress was first mentioned as the seat of Vyšemír, a member of the lesser nobility (coat of arms: arrow), perhaps a poor relation of the Bavor of Strakonice family. Blatna was mentioned again in 1241 with a certain Předosta of Blatna, this time clearly indicating a small castle protected by water, made up of the castle itself and a private Romanesque chapel, quite complex from a structural point of view, which must have been built somewhere between the late 12th century and 1225. Despite this, however, the oldest period of the castle's history is sometimes linked – as is the case for other castles in this region – with the Knights Templar and the obligatory accompanying legends.
Wenzel Karl and his heirs held on to Blatna until today, except for the forced interruption during the Communist period. Franz (František) Hildprandt oversaw an extensive adaptation of the chateau to create a representative seat providing comfortable living quarters. Later, Robert Hildprandt oversaw Romantic-style Neo-Gothic renovations in 1850 through 1856, designed by architect Bernard Grüber of Munich, giving the building more or less its current look.
In the late 1940s, the National Heritage Commission took over the chateau and later confiscated from the Hildprandts after the Communist takeover. Friedrich (Bedřich) Hildprandt, his wife Cornelia, and their daughters were allowed to legally emigrate to Ethiopia after 1958, thanks to the family's ties to Emperor Haile Selassie I. The relics of the family's time in Ethiopia are a compelling addition to the chateau exhibition. After 1989, the estate returned to the hands of the Hildprandts after its restitution to Cornelia, the wife of Friedrich Hildprandt (who died in 1981 in Germany), and their daughters Josefina and Jana. The current owners are working intensively restoring the chateau and opening it to visitors.

History of the park
The 42-hectare castle park is one of the most beautiful locations in the region. It is open to the public year-round – in fact, people have been visiting it since the times of Ferdinand Hildprandt.
Franz (František) Hildprandt had the front part of the original game park transformed into an English park. The rear part was kept in its original form with the sejpy (remains of gold panning in times past) surrounded by large trees.
The park has streams, bridges, paths, and beautiful alleyways. When a new road was built in 1810, Baron Franz also had a man-made hill built in the southwest corner of the park with rocks and caves connected by stone tunnels. During the Napoleonic Wars, this project gave work and wages to the residents of Blatna. The park also once held an orangery, theater, Swiss house, lodge, and shooting range, but these no longer exist.
Today, the only building standing in the park is the Empire-style house where the Hildprandt family now resides.
Another popular attraction in the castle park is the large herd of fallow deer, which graze freely, and a muster of peacocks. Numerous ancient oak trees also grow on the grounds.

CHVALIS s.r.o. – CZECH 100 BEST 2018

Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and especially Prague Castle, is a unique cultural monument reminding us of a thousand years of the Kingdom of Bohemia and the hundred years of the history of Czechoslovakia.
It was here, in the representative Spanish Hall, that the pan-European company Comenius announced the results of the prestigious Czech 100 Best, Lady Pro and Gentleman Pro competitions on 30th November 2018 and it was here that the award-winners received their diplomas.
The company Chvalis was ranked in the top 100 of the best Czech companies, occupying 86th place in the list of the best companies that can be found in the Czech Republic.
The company Milan Chvalina – Chvalis was established almost 30 years ago back in 1990. It has focused on providing expert services since its founding in the field of servicing hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication systems.
It’s a family firm, with the founder’s wife joining in 1992, elder son Martin in 1997 and daughter Jana in 2010. The youngest son Milan is preparing for the company in the future and is currently studying at the Czech Technical University in Prague.
Over the years, the company has become an important supplier of hydraulic systems and components for various areas of industry, including the demanding field of rail vehicles. This includes diesel locomotives and railcars.

Interview: Milan Chvalina - owner and chief executive of Chvalis s.r.o.
I founded the company Milan Chvalina–Chvalis in 1990, at a time when it was possible to start your own business in the Czechoslovak Republic. I first did business in the Štětí paper mill, where I built on my experience in the field of maintaining paper mill machinery, lubrication and pneumatic systems.
The company later began to develop and worked with 20 employees doing a kind of outsourcing in the Štětí paper mill. In 1997 we bought premises in the nearby town of Hoštka and started to build the company’s new head office. We then started to work with large customers in the Czech Republic in the field of the maintenance and servicing orders of hydraulic systems. It was a so-called automotive group that supplied semi-finished products and products for the automotive industry not only in the Czech Republic, but in other European countries.
Another area of our business was launched in 2001, so another stage has started for the company.
We were approached by a company that (in the Czech Republic after the revolution) took over the activity in the field of rail vehicles and diesel locomotives. We have started to develop and supply complete hydraulic systems and packets for diesel locomotives and motor cars for this company, which was a real challenge at the time.
Our company has continued to develop in the field of mobile hydraulic systems for rail vehicles.
In order to manage these complex issues, we have gradually converted from an originally servicing company to a manufacturing one. The company offers customers comprehensive services - design of systems, production of hydraulic valve manifolds, design and manufacturing, complete 3D modelling of aggregates and systems in order to come to an agreement with the customer in advance and to know exactly what they want. These are key services and technologies for our company.
We built our own training center in 2006 using European Union supporting founds. The center is focused to teach the basics of hydraulics, pneumatics and lubrication systems. We train not only our employees in the training center, but also our customers’ staff, who are responsible for maintaining the company’s manufacturing equipment. An integral part of our business is also the field of tribo-diagnostics, where we provide the customer with a comprehensive servicing and maintenance of operating fluids for the hydraulic and lubrication systems. We analyze oils, maintain the filtration and such like, including preparing reports which we then store in the customers’ databases.
The company currently has approximately 110 employees.
So, we can say that we’ve grown quite a bit over the last 28 years. In response to our customers’ needs in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, we have established sales and maintenance centers across the Czech Republic. This network of branches creates local support to our activities and manufacturing in the spirit of “being as close to our customers as possible“.

České dráhy (ČD) or Czech Railways is the main railway operator in the Czech Republic. In 2010 its consolidated revenues reached CZK 41.0 billion (€1.6bn, $2.1bn). Revenues from passenger transport amounted to CZK 18.7 billion (65% transfer payments from the government, 25% intra-state transport, 10% international transport), revenues from freight transport operated by subsidiary ČD Cargo amounted to CZK 11.8 billion, revenues from traffic control invoiced to state-owned railway infrastructure operator SŽDC amounted to CZK 5.2 billion. With thirty-eight thousand employees ČD Group is the largest Czech company by the number of employees.

The company was established in 1993, after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia as a successor of the Czechoslovak State Railways. Until 1 July 2008, České dráhy was the biggest employer in the Czech Republic. After experiencing regular losses and requiring government subsidies, the railway reported its first ever profit in 2007 although it receives government subsidies. Attempts to make it more efficient are currently ongoing and a recent plan to move passenger transport to an independent subsidiary was approved by the Czech government in January 2008.

ČD operates trains; fixed infrastructure (such as tracks) is managed by SŽDC. In December 2010, the Czech government proposed bringing SŽDC and ČD together in a single holding company. The government has also changed the subsidies available to ČD and SŽDC.

ČD Cargo, the cargo subsidiary, mainly transports raw materials, intermediate goods and containers. As of 2009, it is ranked in the top five largest railway cargo operators in Europe.
