A #LongIsland #vacation sends you eastward from the New York boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens to the bluffs of Montauk Point. A short train ride from Manhattan is Long Beach, which for many is where Long Island begins. Visit Fire Island Lighthouse, which for generations of immigrants was their first glimpse of America. It was on Long Island’s northern shores where the mansions were built that would inspire F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, The Great Gatsby.
#Visit the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Hempstead and continue your flight into the past at the American Airpower Museum. #Explore the pioneer settlement of Southampton Village and nearby Sag Harbor, a historic whaling port immortalized in Moby Dick. America’s first president, George Washington, commissioned Montauk Lighthouse on Long Island’s easternmost point. Climb to the top to take in the sweeping views of this place that has played center stage in some of America’s greatest stories.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking Stony Point Battlefield National Historic Landmark in Stony Point, New York

From Wikipedia:
Stony Point Battlefield is a historic site in Rockland County, New York; the location of the 1779 Battle of Stony Point during the American Revolutionary War.
The Battle of Stony Point took place on July 16, 1779, during the American Revolutionary War. In a well planned and executed nighttime attack, a highly trained select group of George Washington's Continental Army troops under the command of Brigadier General Mad Anthony Wayne defeated British troops in a quick and daring assault on their outpost in Stony Point, New York, approximately 30 mi (48 km) north of New York City.
The British suffered heavy losses in a battle that served as an important victory in terms of morale for the Continental Army. While the fort was ordered evacuated quickly after the battle by General Washington, this key crossing site was used later in the war by units of the Continental Army to cross the Hudson River on their way to victory over the British.

BUTTERMILK FALLS 😯in Ithaca, New York | BEST of the Finger Lakes
Buttermilk Falls is one of my hikes and the FIRST waterfall I visited upon relocating! This local favorite in Ithaca, New York. Many tourists miss this waterfall during their visit for more popular spots like Taughanock, or Lucifer/Enfield Falls, so save this beauty! There's Swimming in the summer too.

Gorge Trail Waterfalls at Stony Brook State Park, NY
No need to chase waterfalls in Upstate New York. They are all over the Finger Lake Region. I saw quite a few of them at my stop at Stony Brook State Park in Dansville. The Gorge Trail is about 1.5 miles, but there are numerous beautiful falls along the way. Getting down to the trail is the hardest part down a lot of steep stairs.
But it's worth it. I started around 4:30 and pretty much had the entire trail to myself. That was quite different than the campground which was very crowded and not much room between sites.
