Adventures: A Weekend in Northeast Ohio

We had time for one last weekend away before my friend headed back to China. This time, we decided to explore parts of our home state of Ohio.

A drive through Coshocton County prompted a quick stop at Roscoe Village, a restored canal town on the Ohio & Erie Canal. We then headed to Holmes County, the heart of Ohio's Amish country. Picturesque views and delicious local foods coupled with quaint small towns make for an ideal place to visit. We took a short drive through Cuyahoga Valley National Park for some breathtaking waterfalls on our way to the corner of the state; Ashtabula County. With its lakeshore and lighthouses, the Grand River wine region, and the most covered bridges of any county in Ohio, Ashtabula County had no shortage of things to see.

Kentucky - Ohio River Day Trip - George Clooney’s hometown to Cincinnati - Mary Ingles Highway KY-8

It’s Super Bowl week and I thought it would be fitting to release this video in honor of Cincinnati! I took my brother and nephew along for a ride up the Kentucky side of the Ohio River. We start by crossing the river on the old August Ferry, which was very cool. We start the trip in Augusta, Kentucky, home of George Clooney and his family (he's not the only famous Clooney), then we work our way west all the way to Cincinnati. We even get a glimpe of the Cincinnati Bengals stadium and eat some famous Cincinnati food! Look out for my brother for moments of comedy as well haha. Fun day!

A video I shot with the app Hyperlapse (from Instagram) of The Veterans Memorial Bridge in Steubenville, OH. I shot this by putting my iPhone on top of the fence so that it would be steady during the recording. However, notice the motion of the video that occurs around the 0:23 mark. Not sure what would cause this.

Maysville, Kentucky….along the Ohio River this wonderful town sits…

Welcome to Maysville, Ky….Situated in Mason County, Maysville is two historically significant communities that joined to one. Washington incorporated in 1786, grew to become a prosperous town by 1810, second only to Lexington. Maysville, originally called Limestone, was also established in the 1780s but didn’t flourish until the Indian threat was eliminated from the riverbank in the early 1800s. Maysville, Kentucky, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of a small town with a rich history and a promising future. From its historical significance and cultural attractions to its scenic landscapes and warm community, Maysville offers a delightful experience to all who venture within its boundaries. Whether you're captivated by its fascinating past, immersed in its cultural offerings, or enchanted by its natural beauty, Maysville is a destination that leaves a lasting impression and beckons visitors to return time and time again. #maysvilleky
