Another loss to Stepps greenbelt near Glasgow as this abandoned and bricked up farmhouse, dating back to 1755, awaits to be demolished for new housing schemes to be put in place...

Glasgow's East End... ParkHead Town Centre. 🏴
Parkhead (Scots: Pairkheid) is a district in the East End of Glasgow. Its name comes from a small weaving hamlet at the meeting place of the Great Eastern Road (now the Gallowgate and Tollcross Road) and Westmuir Street. Glasgow's Eastern Necropolis cemetery was laid out in the area in 1847 beside the Gallowgate.
There are local challenges; people living in Parkhead, Dalmarnock and Camlachie have poorer life outcomes than the city average. The average number of years that local men are likely to spend in good health is 47, the lowest in Glasgow, compared to the Glasgow. average of 56.
There's no getting away from the fact the eara is rough and poor, but the majority of the folks are the salt of the earth.

Visiting the new Robroyston station (15/12/2019)
This Sunday saw the new UK railway timetable begin and, with it, some important changes to the rail network but one of the most exciting was a brand new railway station opening within Glasgow; Robroyston, making this station number 60 in the city.
The station is situated on the Glasgow to Edinburgh via Cumbernauld line, between Springburn and Stepps, just off the M80 motorway. The original Robroyston station was first opened in 1898 and, save for a couple of years in the First World War, it remained open until 1956. Today, 63 years later, this new Robroyston station is built to serve a new housing development project within the area that is still, currently, under construction. It is also a 'park-and-ride' station, useful for those who use the M80 to get into the centre of Glasgow.
The visit involved catching the very first revenue service to the station, the 0826 Glasgow Queen Street to Cumbernauld. Though we only get the train there and then waited for the one back as the line only has an hourly service on Sundays.
It is fair to say that it is a very nice little station. Definitely one that I hope will serve the people of Robroyston and Millerston very well, especially once all the housing work has been completed.

While Robroyston was under construction, we took a trip to check out progress from a different angle.
A visit to Robroyston (15/12/19)
Scotland's 60th station on the network. Originally opened in 1898 by the Garnkirk & Glasgow Railway, then subsequently closed during the latter of the war between 1917 & 1919. Robroyston was re-opened and once more closed in 1956. Now due to local housing developments and enough support to warrant its return, after 63 years Robroyston station has returned and now serves the community of the namesake as well as Millerston just a click south. An official opening is to be held on Monday 16th December with local MSP Michael Matheson of the SNP doing the task.
