HOLLAND: The Hague - canal tour 'De Ooievaart'
Few people know that The Hague also has lovely canals and that a boat tour of these canals, De Ooievaart, is available (since 2003).
The canals of The Hague are almost 400 years old. They were created for the city's defence around 1612.
The regular tour takes you through old and new parts of The Hague, including under bridges and through tunnels. You will see a variety of beautiful buildings and special places, among them the Royal Stables and the Royal Gardens.
The Ooievaart canal tour takes about 1,5 hours.

🇳🇱 The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands - virtual tour 🇳🇱
The Hague is the seat of government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the seat of government of its constituent country Netherlands and the capital city of the province of South Holland. However it is not the capital of the country, which by its constitution is Amsterdam. It is the third largest city of the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The Rotterdam The Hague Metropolitan Area is the 12th-largest in the European Union and the most populous in the country. Located in the west of the Netherlands, The Hague is in the centre of the Haaglanden conurbation and lies at the southwest corner of the larger Randstad conurbation.
The Hague is the seat of the Dutch government and parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Council of State, but the city is not the capital of the Netherlands, which constitutionally is Amsterdam. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands plans to live at Huis ten Bosch and works at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague, together with Queen Máxima. Most foreign embassies in the Netherlands and 150 international organisations are located in the city, including the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, which makes The Hague one of the major cities hosting the United Nations along with New York, Geneva, Vienna, Rome, and Nairobi.

The Hague Travel Guide - Netherlands Moments of Joy
The Hague Travel Guide - Netherlands Moments of Joy
The Hague (Den Haag or 's-Gravenhage) is a city in the province of South Holland in the Netherlands. It is the seat of the Dutch parliament and government, and the residence of King Willem-Alexander, but it is not the capital city, which is Amsterdam. The Hague lies on the North Sea and is home to Scheveningen, the most popular seaside resort of the Netherlands, as well as the smaller resort of Kijkduin.
Internationally, The Hague is often known as the judicial capital of the world due to the many international courts that are located in the city. Among these are the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and, since 2004, the International Criminal Court. Beside these institutions, The Hague is home to more than 150 international organizations, as well as many EU institutions, multinational companies and embassies. This gave the city a distinct international character — one that is noticeably different from Amsterdam. Rather than having the many foreign tourists and fortune-seekers attracted by Amsterdam's reputation for excitement and liberalism, The Hague generally has more expatriates working and living in the city because of the number of international institutions and companies. Because of this, The Hague has a reputation as a wealthy, conservative and somewhat sedate city.
The Hague is divided into eight official districts which are, in turn, divided into neighbourhoods. Some of the most prosperous and some of the poorest neighbourhoods of the Netherlands can be found in The Hague. The wealthier areas like Statenkwartier, Belgisch Park, Marlot, Benoordenhout and Archipelbuurt are generally located in the northwestern part of the city, closer to the sea, whereas the southeastern neighbourhoods like Transvaal, Moerwijk, and the Schilderswijk are significantly poorer, with the exception of the Vinex-locations of Leidschenveen-Ypenburg and Wateringse Veld.
The Statenkwartier area, located between the dunes and the centre, has leafy avenues and 19th century housing and is very popular with The Hague's large expatriate community. All kinds of neo- and modern-styles are represented here, especially Art Nouveau architecture. Good shops, delicatessens and restaurants are to be found on Statenkwartier's main street, Frederik Hendriklaan, or 'Fred'. The area also has a number of tourist attractions, which make it worth a visit, most of them being clustered around the Gemeentemuseum on Stadhouderslaan.
The Hague originated around the 13th-century Binnenhof, and this is still considered the cultural centre of the city. Night life centres around the three main squares in the city centre. The Plein (literally Square) is taken by several large sidewalk cafés where often politicians may be spotted. The Grote Markt (literally Great Market) is completely strewn with chairs and tables, summer or winter. The Buitenhof (literally Outer Court, located just outside the Binnenhof) contains a six screen Pathé cinema and a handful of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Adjacent to the Buitenhof is De Passage, the country's first covered shopping mall. Dating from the late 19th century, it contains many expensive and speciality shops. One of the country's largest music venues, Paard van Troje, can be found in the centre of The Hague. Another popular music venue in The Hague is Muziekcafé de Paap.
The Spuiplein is a modern fourth square in the city centre, opposite the Nieuwe Kerk. Besides the City Hall, this was also the location of the Dr. Anton Philipszaal, home to the Residentie Orchestra, and the Lucent Danstheater, home to the internationally celebrated modern dance company Nederlands Dans Theater. These buildings, designed by Rem Koolhaas in 1988, have been demolished to make space for a new theatre, the Spuiforum, which would house both institutes as well as the Royal Conservatory. Despite efforts of the municipality, public support for the proposed theatre remains low. At the heart of the city centre across the palace gardens is the home of Summerschool Den Haag, international school for dance with guest teachers such as Valentina Scaglia, Igone de Jongh, and Maia Makhateli. The Koninklijke Schouwburg, home to the Nationaal Toneel, can also be found in the city centre – on the Korte Voorhout.

HOLLAND: Peace Palace / Vredespaleis - The Hague
The Peace Palace in The Hague houses the International Court of Justice (since 1946), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (since 1913), the Hague Academy of International Law, and the extensive Peace Palace Library.
The International Court of Justice is the principal judicial body of the United Nations.
In November 1903 the Carnegie Foundation was founded by Andrew Carnegie in order to manage his donation of US$1.5 million for the construction of the Palace, ownership, and maintenance. This foundation is still responsible for these issues at present date.
The Peace Palace opened its gates in 1913, after six years of construction. The design, set in the Neo-Renaissance style, was submitted by French architect Louis M. Cordonnier.
The Palace is filled with gifts from different nations. Among the gifts are a 3.2-tonne vase from Russia, entrance doors from Belgium, marble from Italy, a fountain from Denmark, wall carpets from Japan, tower clock from Switzerland, persian rugs from Iran, wood from Indonesia and USA, and entrance gates from Germany.
More gifts:
There is no free access to the Peace Palace. Visitors are required to join a guided tour by advanced booking. The gardens are not accessible. Filming inside is not allowed (...so I was told after I filmed the entrance hall).

(4:02) State berlin carriages from the Royal Stables
The Royal Stables has a fleet of six state berlins. The name comes from the German city, where the carriages were first built in 1662. A berlin is a covered carriage which can seat four people. The carriages are painted black and burgundy and can be drawn by two or four horses. The state berlins are used regularly.

A charming area close to the centre. Built between 1870 and 1890. The straight street patterns with a high density of upscale townhouses, shopping streets, courtyards and large beautiful squares characterize this neighbourhood. This was shot in the late afternoon and I wasn't aware that it might cause lens flares in some scenes, sorry for that.
